Coulomb drag in quantum circuits
We study drag effect in a system of two electrically isolated quantum point
contacts (QPC), coupled by Coulomb interactions. Drag current exhibits maxima
as a function of QPC gate voltages when the latter are tuned to the transitions
between quantized conductance plateaus. In the linear regime this behavior is
due to enhanced electron-hole asymmetry near an opening of a new conductance
channel. In the non-linear regime the drag current is proportional to the shot
noise of the driving circuit, suggesting that the Coulomb drag experiments may
be a convenient way to measure the quantum shot noise. Remarkably, the
transition to the non-linear regime may occur at driving voltages substantially
smaller than the temperature.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figure
Magnetoconductivity of low-dimensional disordered conductors at the onset of the superconducting transition
Magnetoconductivity of the disordered two- and three-dimensional
superconductors is addressed at the onset of superconducting transition. In
this regime transport is dominated by the fluctuation effects and we account
for the interaction corrections coming from the Cooper channel. In contrast to
many previous studies we consider strong magnetic fields and various
temperature regimes, which allow to resolve the existing discrepancies with the
experiments. Specifically, we find saturation of the fluctuations induced
magneto-conductivity for both two- and three-dimensional superconductors at
already moderate magnetic fields and discuss possible dimensional crossover at
the immediate vicinity of the critical temperature. The surprising observation
is that closer to the transition temperature weaker magnetic field provides the
saturation. It is remarkable also that interaction correction to
magnetoconductivity coming from the Cooper channel, and specifically the so
called Maki-Thompson contribution, remains to be important even away from the
critical region.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

Charged-Surface Instability Development in Liquid Helium; Exact Solutions
The nonlinear dynamics of charged-surface instability development was
investigated for liquid helium far above the critical point. It is found that,
if the surface charge completely screens the field above the surface, the
equations of three-dimensional (3D) potential motion of a fluid are reduced to
the well-known equations describing the 3D Laplacian growth process. The
integrability of these equations in 2D geometry allows the analytic description
of the free-surface evolution up to the formation of cuspidal singularities at
the surface.Comment: latex, 5 pages, no figure
Relaxation and edge reconstruction in integer quantum Hall systems
The interplay between the confinement potential and electron-electron
interactions causes reconstructions of Quantum Hall edges. We study the
consequences of this edge reconstruction for the relaxation of hot electrons
injected into integer quantum Hall edge states. In translationally invariant
edges, the relaxation of hot electrons is governed by three-body collisions
which are sensitive to the electron dispersion and thus to reconstruction
effects. We show that the relaxation rates are significantly altered in
different reconstruction scenarios.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figure
Crystallographic Orientation Dependence of Surface Segregation and Alloying on PdCu Catalysts for CO2 Hydrogenation
The influence of the crystallographic orientation on surface segregation and alloy formation in model PdCu methanol synthesis catalysts was investigated in situ using near-ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy under CO2 hydrogenation conditions. Combined with scanning tunneling microscopy and density functional theory calculations, the study showed that submonolayers of Pd undergo spontaneous alloy formation on Cu(110) and Cu(100) surfaces in vacuum, whereas they do not form an alloy on Cu(111). Upon heating in H2, inward diffusion of Pd into the Cu lattice is favored, facilitating alloying on all Cu surfaces. Under CO2 hydrogenation reaction conditions, the alloying trend becomes stronger, promoted by the reaction intermediate HCOO*, especially on Pd/Cu(110). This work demonstrates that surface alloying may be a key factor in the enhancement of the catalytic activity of PdCu catalysts as compared to their monometallic counterparts. Furthermore, it sheds light on the hydrogen activation mechanism during catalytic hydrogenation on copper-based catalysts
ENTOMOLOGIZES FACTORY IN THE PROCESS OF SPREADING COMMON PINE ROOT SPONGE UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF SHIP TIMBER FORESTRY OF STATE ENTERPRISE “ZHYTOMYR FORESTRY”
The article studies the species varieties of forest insects in the centers of attack with determination of the tree stocking degree. The major insect species are represented by such samilies as bark beetlesipidae capricon betles – Cerambycidae. The artice considers the effect of insect on common pipe decaying in the location of pine fungus. It has been substantiated that the formalion of forest insect attack centers depend on the age of trees. Concentration of larger and lasser pine – shoot beetles dominates in the forest of 40 years of age. They intensify the effect of pine fungus with further weakening the trees. Following the results of investigation it has been determined that such insects as larger pine-shoot beetle lesser pine-shoot beetle, black pine Capricorn beetle, blue pine char cool beetle, Curkulio glandium are the synergist of Heterobasidion annosum finvader.
Keldysh Ginzburg-Landau action of fluctuating superconductors
We derive Ginzburg-Landau action by systematically integrating out electronic
degrees of freedom in the framework of the Keldysh nonlinear sigma-model of
disordered superconductors. The resulting Ginzburg-Landau functional contains a
nonlocal -dependent contribution to the diffusion constant, which
leads, for example, to Maki-Thompson corrections. It also exhibits an anomalous
Gor'kov-Eliashberg coupling between and the scalar potential, as well
as a peculiar nonlocal nonlinear term. The action is gauge invariant and
satisfies the fluctuation dissipation theorem. It may be employed e.g. for
calculation of higher moments of the current fluctuations.Comment: 16 pages, 2 figure
