    The Methodological Foundations of Statistical Support of Management of Sustainable Urban Development

    The article is aimed at developing statistical support for the creation and functioning of a new modern urban development model that integrates all aspects of sustainable development, promotes the equality, well-being and shared prosperity of all urban residents. The topical issues of urbanization tendencies of the world population, growth of the total population, as well as distribution of rural and urban population in the regions of the world and in Ukraine are considered. The theoretical principles of the «Conception of sustainable development» adopted by the UN Conference on Environment and Development in 1992 and the «Sustainable Development Goals», approved by the UN General Assembly in September 2015, are set out. The problems and basic elements of sustainable urban development are also considered. The essence and purpose of management of sustainable urban development are defined. The conceptual block-scheme of statistical support of sustainable urban development management is elaborated, which characterizes the structure and sequence of operations aimed at substantiation of managerial decisions. A description of the main directions of statistical analysis, which are the basis for building the generalizing characterizations of economic growth, social integration, and status of environment, is provided

    Heterostructured composite of NiFe-LDH nanosheets with Ti4O7 for oxygen evolution reaction

    Developing oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalyst based on earth-abundant materials holds great promise for ascertaining water-splitting to surmount its deprived kinetics. In this regard, NiFe-LDH (layered double hydroxide) receives considerable attention owing to their layered structure. However, they still suffer from poor electronic conductivity and structural stability. We combined NiFe-LDH nanosheets with Magnéli phase Ti4O7 into a heterostructured composite. A series of analyses reveal that decorating Ti4O7 facilitates charge transfer to enhance the conductivity of NiFe-LDH-Ti4O7. During electrochemical measurement, Ni2+ is transformed to metastable Ni3+ (Ni (OH)→ NiOOH) before the OER onset potential. Thus, the presence of Ni3+ as the main active sites could improve the chemisorption of OH− to facilitate OER. As a result, the NiFe-LDH-Ti4O7 catalyst delivers as low as onset potential (1.43 V). Combining the holey structure (NiFe-LDH and Ti4O7) and the defect engineering generated on NiFe-LDH-Ti4O7 as a synergistic effect improves the OER performance. The inclusion of Ti4O7 in the composite leads to more vacancy sites, as evidenced by the extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) analysis. The obtained defective structure with a low coordination environment would improve the electronic conductivity and facilitate the adsorption process of H2O onto metal cations, thereby increasing the intrinsic catalytic activity of NiOOH. The strong coupling of NiFe-LDH and Ti4O7 also increases the stability, and the heterostructured composite helps maintain the structural robustness of the LDH

    Primary care is considered the foundation of any health system. In Ontario, Canada Bills 41 and 74 introduced in 2016 and 2019, respectively, aimed to move towards a primary care-focused and sustainable integrated care approach designed around the needs of local populations. These bills collectively set the stage for integrated care and population health management in Ontario, with Ontario Health Teams (OHTs) introduced as a model of integrated care delivery systems. OHTs aim to streamline patient connectivity through the healthcare system and improve outcomes aligned with the Quadruple Aim. When Ontario released a call for health system partners to apply to become an OHT, providers, administrators, and patient/caregiver partners from the Middlesex-London area were quick to respond.     Las alteraciones del complejo cóndilo-disco de la articulación temporomandibular pueden considerarse un espectro continuo de trastornos progresivos. Se realizó un estudio cuasi-experimental en 48 pacientes mayores de 15 años pertenecientes a la Clínica de Especialidades Estomatológicas de Bayamo, provincia Granma, desde enero a julio del 2014 con el propósito de evaluar los resultados de la aplicación de un protocolo para el diagnóstico y tratamiento de las alteraciones del complejo cóndilo-disco de la articulación temporomandibular. Se evaluaron algunas variables de interés; a los datos obtenidos se les realizó análisis estadístico. A los tres meses de evolución hubo un incremento estadísticamente significativo del número de pacientes sin dolor (p<0,05), y una reducción del número de pacientes con restricción de la apertura bucal. El protocolo de tratamiento resultó efectivo pues se logró reducir el dolor e incrementar el rango de apertura bucal en más del 70% de los pacientes tratados.The alterations of the complex condyle-disk of the temporomandibular joint can be considered a constant spectrum of progressive disorders. A quasi-experimental study was performed in 48 patients older than 15 years belonging to the Specialty Stomatology Clinic of Bayamo, Granma, from January to July of 2014, with the purpose of evaluating the results of the protocol implementation for the diagnosis and treatment of the complex condyle-disk disorders of the temporomandibular joint. Some variables of interest were evaluated; the statistical analysis was performed to the obtained data. After three months of evolution there was a statistically significant increase in the number of patients without pain (p <0.05), and a reduction of the amount of patients with restricted mouth opening. The treatment protocol was effective because it was able to reduce pain and to increase the range of mouth opening in more than 70% of patients treated

    New Higgs Production Mechanism in Composite Higgs Models

    Composite Higgs models are only now starting to be probed at the Large Hadron Collider by Higgs searches. We point out that new resonances, abundant in these models, can mediate new production mechanisms for the composite Higgs. The new channels involve the exchange of a massive color octet and single production of new fermion resonances with subsequent decays into the Higgs and a Standard Model quark. The sizable cross section and very distinctive kinematics allow for a very clean extraction of the signal over the background with high statistical significance. Heavy gluon masses up to 2.8 TeV can be probed with data collected during 2012 and up to 5 TeV after the energy upgrade to s=14\sqrt{s}=14 TeV.Comment: 27 pages, 22 figures.     Prevalence and associated risk factors of malaria among adults in East Shewa Zone of Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia: a cross-sectional study

    BACKGROUND: Malaria is one of the most important causes of morbidity and mortality in sub-Saharan Africa. The disease is prevalent in over 75% of the country's area making it the leading public health problems in the country. Information on the prevalence of malaria and its associated factors is vital to focus and improve malaria interventions. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was carried out from October to November 2012 in East Shewa zone of Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia. Adults aged 16 or more years with suspected malaria attending five health centers were eligible for the study. Logistic regression models were used to examine the effect of each independent variable on risk of subsequent diagnosis of malaria. RESULTS: Of 810 suspected adult malaria patients who participated in the study, 204 (25%) had microscopically confirmed malaria parasites. The dominant Plasmodium species were P. vivax (54%) and P. falciparum (45%), with mixed infection of both species in one patient. A positive microscopic result was significantly associated with being in the age group of 16 to 24 years [Adjusted Odds Ratio aOR 6.7; 95% CI: 2.3 to 19.5], 25 to 34 years [aOR 4.2; 95% CI: 1.4 to 12.4], and 35 to 44 years [aOR 3.7; 95% CI: 1.2-11.4] compared to 45 years or older; being treated at Meki health center [aOR 4.1; 95% CI: 2.4 to 7.1], being in Shashemene health center [aOR = 2.3; 95% CI: 1.5 to 4.5], and living in a rural area compared to an urban area [aOR 1.7; 95% CI: 1.1 to 2.6)]. CONCLUSION: Malaria is an important public health problem among adults in the study area with a predominance of P. vivax and P. falciparum infection. Thus, appropriate health interventions should be implemented to prevent and control the disease

    A closer look to the sgoldstino interpretation of the diphoton excess

    Abstract: We revisit the sgoldstino interpretation of the diphoton excess in the context of gauge mediation. While the bound on the gluino mass might seem to make the sgoldstino contribution to the diphoton excess unobservable, we show that the interpretation is viable in a thin, near critical region of the parameter space. This regime gives rise to drastic departures from the standard gauge mediation picture. While the fermion messengers lie in the (10-100) TeV range, some scalar messengers are significantly lighter and are responsible for the sgoldstino production and decay. Their effective coupling to the sgoldstino is correspondingly enhanced, and a non-perturbative regime is triggered when light and heavy messenger masses differ by a factor 73 4\u3c0. We also comment on the possible role of an R-axion and on the possibility to decouple the sfermions in this context. \ua9 2016, The Author(s)

    Sp(4) gauge theory on the lattice: towards SU(4)/Sp(4) composite Higgs (and beyond)

    The Sp(4) gauge theory with two Dirac fundamental flavours provides a candidate for the microscopic origin of composite-Higgs models based on the SU(4)/Sp(4) coset. We employ a combination of two different, complementary strategies for the numerical lattice calculations, based on the Hybrid Monte Carlo and on the Heat Bath algorithms. We perform pure Yang-Mills, quenched computations and exploratory studies with dynamical Wilson fermions. We present the first results in the literature for the spectrum of glueballs of the pure Sp(4) Yang-Mills theory, an EFT framework for the interpretation of the masses and decay constants of the lightest pion, vector and axial-vector mesons, and a preliminary calculation of the latter in the quenched approximation. We show the first numerical evidence of a bulk phase transition in the lattice theory with dynamical Wilson fermions, and perform the technical steps necessary to set up future investigations of the mesonic spectrum of the full theory
