    Light Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Batteries Using V2O5 Cathodes

    Solar energy is one of the most actively pursued renewable energy sources, but like many other sustainable energy sources, its intermittent character means solar cells have to be connected to an energy storage system to balance production and demand. To improve the efficiency of this energy conversion and storage process, photobatteries have recently been proposed where one of the battery electrodes is made from a photoactive material that can directly be charged by light without using solar cells. Here, we present photorechargeable lithium-ion batteries (Photo-LIBs) using photocathodes based on vanadium pentoxide nanofibers mixed with P3HT and rGO additives. These photocathodes support the photocharge separation and transportation process needed to recharge. The proposed Photo-LIBs show capacity enhancements of more than 57% under illumination and can be charged to ∼2.82 V using light and achieve conversion efficiencies of ∼2.6% for 455 nm illumination and ∼0.22% for 1 sun illumination

    Machinery monitoring is the process of monitoring a parameter of condition in machinery, such that a significant change is indicative of a failure in development. Temperature, vibration, noise, current, voltage, acoustic emission, etc. – all these measurements are used for machine condition monitoring. Measuring vibration signals of the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) method is widely used to detect machine faults. There are many studies for the prediction of mechanical wear, fault and failure in this area for several decades. Signal processing techniques are used to obtain vital characteristic information from the vibration signals.     Evaluation of physical properties of Errandi-acrylic union fabrics

    Errandi silk has a potential of emerging as “A silk of the new millennium”. The experimental finding provides information on physical properties as well as subjective evaluations of Errandi silk -Acrylic union fabrics with twill and herringbone weave. The count and diameter of errandi silk fibre were higher than acrylic fibre and in case of woven fabrics, herringbone weave were found to have maximum value in cloth covers, weight and thickness.  A comparative subjective evaluation was done based on fabric quality by the panel of 100 respondents. 100 per cent respondent opined that all the woven samples have good appearance, soft in hand and smooth in texture. It was observed that cent percent of respondents found errandi-acrylic blended union fabrics with twill and herringbone weaves were high in lustre. The costs of blended yarns and the cost of union fabrics of different proportion were got reduced in comparison to that of 100 per cent errandi-silk yarn (Rs.3000.00/kg) and controlled errandi silk fabrics (Rs.985.00/mt.). Based on the aesthetic properties such as handle, appearance, texture and lustre and considering the cost of twill and herringbone errandi-acrylic fabrics were suitable for production of fashionable wear.     Effect of Parisheka, Rakta Mokshana and Shamanoushadhi in management of Vicharchika (Eczema) : A Case Report

    Introduction: Vicharchika is one among the eleven Kshudra Kushta. Cardinal features of Vicharchika are Kandu, Pidika, Shyava Varna, Bahusravi. Vicharchika is a Kapha Dosha predominant condition as mentioned by Acharya Charaka. Methods: The patient was treated with Siravedha, Sheeta Parisheka with Panchavalkala Qwatha, Gandhaka Rasayana, Triphala Guggulu, Patolakaturohiniyadi Kashaya as Shamana Aushadhi for seven days. Assessment was done on 1st day and 8th day on bases of lakshana, EASI score. Result: After seven days of treatment there was significant reduction in the signs and symptoms, along with EASI score. Discussion: Siravedha was done on the first day in order to eliminate the Dooshita Rakta, later on Sheeta Parisheka was done to pacify the Daha over the lesion for next 6 days. Panchavalkala Qwatha was used for Sheeta Parisheka. Shamanoushadhi prescribed were Gandhaka Rasayana which is Kapha Hara due to its Katu, Tikta Rasa and Ushna Veerya. Triphala Guggulu which acts as Kaphahara due to its Kashaya, Katu, and Tikta Rasa, Rooksha Guna. Patolakaturonhinyadi Kashaya which is Kaphapitta Hara due to its Tikta Rasa and Rooksha Guna. After seven days of treatment patients got significant relief in many cardinal symptoms like Kandu, Srava & Daha. Combined effect of Rakta Mokshana, Parisheka and Shamanoushadhi were considerable improvement seen in this case

    Interrogating the Light-Induced Charging Mechanism in Li-Ion Batteries Using Operando Optical Microscopy

    Photobatteries, batteries with a light-sensitive electrode, have recently been proposed as a way of simultaneously capturing and storing solar energy in a single device. Despite reports of photocharging with multiple different electrode materials, the overall mechanism of operation remains poorly understood. Here, we use operando optical reflection microscopy to investigate light-induced charging in LixV2O5 electrodes. We image the electrode, at the single-particle level, under three conditions: (a) with a closed circuit and light but no electronic power source (photocharging), (b) during galvanostatic cycling with light (photoenhanced), and (c) with heat but no light (thermal). We demonstrate that light can indeed drive lithiation changes in LixV2O5 while maintaining charge neutrality, possibly via a combination of faradaic and nonfaradaic effects taking place in individual particles. Our results provide an addition to the photobattery mechanistic model highlighting that both intercalation-based charging and lithium concentration polarization effects contribute to the increased photocharging capacity
