    Early Delirium Assessment for Hospitalized Older People in Indonesia: a Systematic Review

    Background: Due to the increasing risk of getting co-morbidity and frailty, older people tend to be prone to hospitalization. Hospitalization in older people brings many adverse effects. Moreover, when these elderly get delirium, the mortality and morbidity will increase. The risk of getting deterioration and worsening condition because of delirium would also increase. In fact, delirium assessment is not a high priority in taking care older people during hospitalization because the focus of care is treating the disease.Delirium screening as an early recognition of delirium in the hospitalized elderly inIndonesia remains unreported and even do not well evaluated. Therefore, delirium as a preventable problem or causing problems remains unrecognized.Purpose: This paper aims to review the current evidence of early assessment of delirium in hospitalized older people.Methods: A systematic review was conducted from four databases yielding to 4 articles which met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Results: There are four focuses on the result, namely delirium screening tools, patient characteristics, identified early delirium assessment, and outcomes affected by early delirium assessment. Confusion Assessment Method (CAM) was used as the delirium screening tool in the hospital. Establishing the care team involving many disciplines will give a better way to improve the integrated care and collaborative care.Conclusion: Performing CAM integrated into comprehensive geriatric assessment can be the most important thing to be undertaken when looking after the hospitalized elderly

    Proposal for an experiment to search for Randall-Sundrum type corrections to Newton's law of gravitation

    String theory, as well as the string inspired brane-world models such as the Randall-Sundrum (RS) one, suggest a modification of Newton's law of gravitation at small distance scales. Search for modifications of standard gravity is an active field of research in this context. It is well known that short range corrections to gravity would violate the Newton-Birkhoff theorem. Based on calculations of RS type non-Newtonian forces for finite size spherical bodies, we propose a torsion balance based experiment to search for the effects of violation of this celebrated theorem valid in Newtonian gravity as well as the general theory of relativity. We explain the main principle behind the experiment and provide detailed calculations suggesting optimum values of the parameters of the experiment.     WHETHER SHORT-TERM EXPERIENCE CAN ENHANCE PERCEPTUAL-MOTOR LEARNING IN A MOVING (VEHICULAR) GAP INTERCEPTION TASK

    Background: Accurate perceptual judgment and skilful movement coordination are required to perform sports specific or everyday perceptual-motor tasks. In ball catching, for example, a catcher must judge the spatial and temporal aspects of the flying ball and adjust his locomotion according to the changing situation. Likewise, an everyday perceptual-motor task that requires perceptual accuracy and skilful movement coordination is to intercept a gap between moving vehicles as a pedestrian (i.e., road-crossing). Purpose: Experience (both short-term and long-term) is important in learning to perform such everyday perceptual-motor skills. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of short-term experience on pedestrians’ perceptual decisions and movement coordination in an experimental road-crossing task. Methods: Twenty-two young adults of Kunsan National University participated voluntarily in the experiment and performed a moving gap interception task (road-crossing) in the virtual environment. Results: Participants’ perceptual decisions improved and movement coordination during gap interception enhanced with short-term experience. Conclusion: this study concluded that perception and movement coordination can be calibrated with experience even in short-time scale. Also, perceptual accuracy and enhanced motor-ability is important to increase pedestrians’ safety in road-crossing and in other similar everyday perceptual-motor tasks

    Complexity of XOR/XNOR boolean functions: a model using binary decision diagrams and back propagation neural networks

    This paper proposes a model that predicts the complexity of Boolean functions with only XOR/XNOR min-terms using back propagation neural networks (BPNNs) applied to Binary Decision Diagrams (BDDs). The BPNN model (BPNNM) is developed through the training process of experimental data already obtained for XOR/XNOR-based Boolean functions. The outcome of this model is a unique matrix for the complexity estimation over a set of BDDs derived from Boolean expressions with a given number of variables and XOR/XNOR min-terms. The comparison results of the experimental and BPNNM underline the efficiency of this approach, which is capable of providing some useful clues about the complexity of the circuit to be implemented. It also proves the computational capabilities of NNs in providing reliable classification of the complexity of Boolean functions.Facultad de Informátic

    Synthesis, Analgesic, Anti-inflammatory and Antimicrobial Activities of Some Novel Pyrazoline Derivatives

    Purpose: Microbial infections often produce pain and inflammation. Chemotherapeutic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed simultaneously in normal practice. The compound possessing all three activities is not common.The purpose of the present study was to examine whether molecular modification might result in detection of new potential antirheumatic drugs having antimicrobial activities. Method: A series of novel 4-(5′-substituted aryl-4′, 5′-dihydropyrazole-3′-yl-amino) phenols 2a-f have been synthesized by treating substituted aryl-N-chalconyl amino phenols 1a-f with hydrazine hydrate. The starting materials were synthesized from p-aminoacetophenone. Their structures were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR spectral data. The synthesized compounds were investigated for analgesic, ant-inflammatory and antimicrobial activities. Result: The data reported in Tables 2, 3 & 4 shows that effect of variation in chemical structure on activity was rather unpredictable. Seldom did a particular structural modification lead to uniform alteration in activity in all tests. The substitution which appeared to be most important for high order of activity in the greatest number of test was the p-choloroaryl group. The introduction of p-nitro and p-hydroxy group in aryl moiety of the pyrazole analogs 2c and 2e produce compounds with potent analgesic, anti-inflamatory and, in a few cases, antimicrobial properties. Conclusion: The observed increase in analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activities are attributed to the presence of 4-NO2, 2-OH and 4-Cl in phenyl ring at 5-position of pyrazoline ring of synthesized compounds. In some cases their activities are equal or more potent than the standard drugs.     Apoteker Cilik (ACIL) merupakan sebuah gagasan sebagai upaya dalam membangkitkan eksistensi profesi Apoteker secara lebih nyata. Eksistensi tersebut sangat berpengaruh pada masyarakat yang sampai saat ini masih dipandang sebelah mata. Apoteker adalah salah satu profesi kesehatan yang diakui keberadaaannya oleh UU Tenaga Kesehatan dan pemerintah. Brainding profesi apoteker melalui program Usaha Kesehatan Sekolah (UKS) mulai diperkenalkan pada siswa Sekolah Dasar (SD) agar diketahui eksistensinya. Investasi yang dilakukan sejak dini lambat laun akan berkembang dan menjadi besar. Seperti halnya dokter di Sekolah Dasar yang diidentikkan dengan dengan Dokter Kecil, Apoteker Cilik pun kedepannya akan lebih maju dan dapat membesarkan nama profesi apoteker. Praktik pelaksanaan interpersonal education dapat digunakan sebagai media untuk melakukan kerja sama antar profesi dalam skala kecil. Kemampuan inrepersonal tersebut meliputi kemampuan seseorang untuk mendukung orang lain, memberi dan menerima kritik yang membangun, serta kemampuan bernegosiasi. Oleh karena itu, adanya ACIL sebagai upaya membangkitkan eksistensi profesi apoteker dan International education antar profesi kesehatan sejak dini khususnya di kalangan siswa Sekolah Dasar sangat mendukung guna peningkatan derajat kesehatan masyarakat

    This article would help integration of women entrepreneurs into the mainstream economy in Pakistan.In Pakistan, women entrepreneurs do not enjoy the same opportunities as men due to a number of deep-rooted discriminatory socio-cultural values and traditions. Furthermore, these restrictions can be observed within the support mechanisms that exist to assist such fledgling businesswomen. The economic potential of female entrepreneurs is not being realised as they suffer from a lack of access to capital, land, business premises, information technology, training and agency assistance. Inherent attitudes of a patriarchal society, that men are superior to women and that women are best suited to be homemakers, create formidable challenges. Women also receive little encouragement from some male family members, resulting in limited spatial mobility and a dearth of social capital. The research suggests that in order to foster development, multi-agency cooperation is required. The media, educational policy makers and government agencies could combine to provide women with improved access to business development services and facilitate local, regional and national networks

Recent advances in technology have provided high CPU power, large storage, broad bandwidth and integrated peripheral devices such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G/4G to mobile devices, making them popular computing and communication devices. Mobile malware has been targeting mobile devices more than ever and seems to be shifted from their traditional host, the personal computers, to more vulnerable victims. In this study, we mainly focus on malware for Android-based mobile devices. We analyze and discuss related malware and recognize its trends and challenges. We also present a comprehensive security solution that addresses the security from malware threats

    Energy-Momentum Distribution: Some Examples

    In this paper, we elaborate the problem of energy-momentum in General Relativity with the help of some well-known solutions. In this connection, we use the prescriptions of Einstein, Landau-Lifshitz, Papapetrou and M\"{o}ller to compute the energy-momentum densities for four exact solutions of the Einstein field equations. We take the gravitational waves, special class of Ferrari-Ibanez degenerate solution, Senovilla-Vera dust solution and Wainwright-Marshman solution. It turns out that these prescriptions do provide consistent results for special class of Ferrari-Ibanez degenerate solution and Wainwright-Marshman solution but inconsistent results for gravitational waves and Senovilla-Vera dust solution.Comment: 20 pages, accepted for publication in Int.
