Developing Students’ Ability to Read, Understand and Analyze Scientific Data Through the Use of Worksheets that Focus on Studying Historical Documents

AbstractWorksheets that focus on the analysis of historical data are made up of forms that enable students to read and analyze primary or secondary historical documents in terms of their physical attributes and content. While the physical attributes part of the worksheet contain questions about the type of the text, its name, date, place, author and its readers, the analysis of the main text includes questions that center on the content, on text's reliability and on questioning the credibility of the historical sources. Studying the documents with such questions, students get the opportunity to combine their own interpretation of the document with the scientific connections they’ve made and put it down in writing. That way it is possible to see what students have grasped from the text and follow the mental processes they go through during the whole task of analyzing it

Pengaruh Current Ratio (CR), Net Profit Margin (NPM), Total Asset Turn Over (TATO) Terhadap Profitabilitas Perusahaan PT. Telkom Indonesia Tahun 2011-2020

Dalam sebuah perusahaan sangatlah penting adanya profit karena profit merupakan tingkat efisiensi perusahaan, yaitu sejauh mana kemampuan perusahaan untuk mengurangi biaya operasi selama periode waktu tertentu. Dengan adanya profit investor akan mengetahui seberapa perusahaan tersebut mampu menghasilkan laba, sehingga investor dapat mengambil keputusan dengan bijak. Dan investor tidak akan merasa rugi berinvestasi di perusahaan tersebut. Seorang investor hanya perlu melakukan sebuah analisa yang mempengaruhi adanya profit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Current Ratio (CR), Net Profit Margin (NPM), Total Asset Turn Over (TATO) Terhadap Profitabilitas (Return On Asset) pada perusahaan PT. Telkom Indonesia pada tahun 2011-2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan  metode kuantitatif dengan data sekunder yang diperoleh dari dokumen data laporan keuangan perusahaan dengan teknik dokumentasi melalui media internet dan aplikasi Indopremier sekuritas. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji asumsi klasik, regresi linier berganda, uji hipotesis, serta koefisien determinan. Pengolahan data menggunakan program software SPSS (Statistic Package for the Social Sciens) 25.0 for windows. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa variabel Current Ratio (CR) tidak berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Return On Asset (ROA) pada tahun 2011-2020. Sedangkan variabel Net Profit Margin (NPM) dan Total Asset Turn Over (TATO) berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Return On Asset (ROA) pada tahun 2011-2020

TÜRK KÜLTÜRÜ VE HALK EDEBİYATINDA AHİLİK

ÖzetTürk halk edebiyatının ve kültürünün birçok dalında ahilik ve ahilikle ilgili şiirlere, destanlara, menkıbelere, inanmalara, motiflere, vb. örneklere rastlanmaktadır. Bazen bir meslek destanı, bazen bir halk türküsü şeklinde karşımıza çıkan halk edebiyatı metinlerinin yanında ahi şeyhlerinin etrafında teşekkül etmiş olan menkıbe ve inanmalar da oldukça fazladır. Bu örnekler ahilik teşkilatının sözlü gelenekteki yansımalarını göstermesi bakımından son derece önemlidir. Çalışmamızda halk edebiyatı ürünlerinde ve sözlü gelenekte ahilik teşkilatının izleri ele alınacak; bir Türk teşkilatı olarak ahiliğin toplum ve millet hayatındaki yeri gösterilecektir. AbstractPoems, epics, legends, belief, and motives about ahi-order, are prevails among in most genres of Turkish folk literature and Turkish culture. Besides folk literature texts which appears sometimes as a legend on a craft, sometimes as a folk song, there are redundant examples of legends or belief based on ahi-sheikhs. These samples are very important in terms of showing reflections of ahi-order in oral tradition. This research will discuss traces of ahi-order in Turkish folk literature and oral tradition, and will indicate importance of ahi-order, as a Turkish organization, in the society and in the nation. Acoustic and structural design of a highway noise barrier

Highway noise barriers are designed to mitigate the effects of traffic noise along the highway. Noise barriers primarily block the direct path of the sound between the source on the highway and the receiver exposed to the sound. Noise mitigation capability, aesthetics, cost and constructability and structural capacity against wind and earthquake loads are critical parameters to be considered in noise barrier design. The height and length of a noise barrier are determined by acoustical considerations, aesthetics and cost. In addition, the structural design of the noise barrier should meet the established standards. The aim of this study is to evaluate the noise mitigation capabilities, aesthetic features and costs of acoustic designs for the residential buildings located near the urban highway and evaluate the structural performances against wind and earthquake. Through the interviews, the designs higher than 10m are not found acceptable by the residents and also due to the aesthetic concerns the upper part of the noise barrier is set to be constructed as glass. Therefore, the noise reduction capabilities and construction cost and the alternatives that complies with the constraints are determined and the corresponding costs are calculated accordingly. Noise simulation software is used to identify the effectiveness of selected noise barriers and structural analysis and design software is used to evaluate the structural performance. The results show that designed precast lightweight concrete and glass composite noise barrier meet the required noise reduction goal along with a resilient structural performance and affordable cost.Publisher's Versio

Dil bilim araştırma alanlarından biri de, halk ağzından söz derleme faaliyetidir. Bu derlemelerin sadece kullanılmak için yayımlanmasıgerektiği düşünülmemelidir. Elbette, bu derlemeler arasında yazıdilimizin eksiklerini karşılayan sözler bulunmaktadır. Nitekim, bu yolla halk ağzından yazıdilimize birçok kelime geçmiştir. Ama ağız derlemelerinden güdülen tek amaç bu değildir. Anadolu’nun çeşitli bölgelerinden derlenecek dil malzemeleri konunun uzmanlarınca değerlendirilip sınıflandırılacak ve böylece millî bir ağız haritasıoluşturma yönünde önemli adımlar atılmışolacaktır. Bunun için araştırıcılar, dil severler ve gönüllüler el birliği yapıp bu yurttaşlık görevine sarılmalıdırlar. Biz de, zaman zaman halk edebiyatıve halk bilimi ile ilgili saha derlemelerimiz sırasında derleme bölgelerimizin yerel söyleyişlerini uzun zamandan beri not ediyoruz. Konya’nın; Hadim, Bozkır, Taşkent, Ermenek ve Güneysınır ilçeleri genişbir coğrafyayıiçine almaktadır. Bu bölgelerde yaşayanlar da kendilerini dağlıolarak adlandırmaktadırlar. Burada yaptığımız saha derlemelerimiz sırasında, bölgenin kendine özgü bir ağız yapısının bulunduğunu gördük ve köydeki Mehmet Ali Köyü yerel söyleyişler ile fiilleri toplamaya başladık. Bu makalemizde, buradan tespit edilmiş65 adet fiilin bölgedeki söyleyişve anlamlarıüzerinde durulmuştur

The predictors of school refusal: Depression, anxiety, cognitive distortion and attachment

School refusal is one of the main problems observed in almost all levels of education in Turkey. This problem is characterized by difficulties in going to school, staying at school for an entire day or not feeling well at school. School refusal is commonly associated with cognitive evaluations and emotional   problems, and it may also be a source for various other problems. The purpose of this study is to do a research about the predictor power of depression, negative thoughts and attachment styles in school refusal through the sample of Turkish students. Furthermore, the school refusal behavior has also been analysed in terms of some demographical variables such as gender, perceived socio-economic level, and parents’ educational level. The study group consisted of 340 secondary school students studying in Istanbul. School Refusal Assessment Scale-R, The Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale-Short Version, The Experiences in Close Relationships Middle Childhood, and Three Dimensions of Cognitive Scale were used as measurements. Results have indicated that school refusal is predicted by anxiety, depression and negative thoughts but is not predicted by attachment styles such as avoidance and anxiety attachment. The results have been presented and discussed in the light of the literature

Fossa posterior fossa yerleşimli glioblastoma

A 63-year-old woman operated eight months ago for glioblastoma (GB) located in posterior fossa was admitted to emergency room for stuporous, nausea, vo-miting and headache. CT and MR showed recurrence of posterior fossa cystic-necrotic tumour without any other intracranial contrast enhancing lesion. Tumour was removed near totally. Perseverative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) fistula from the incision was occurred and contaminated by multidrug resistant Acinetobacter ba-umannii. Two months after the tumour removal she was expired because of the septicaemia. GB located in posterior fossa is uncommon in both adults and child-ren; and it appears as two different subsets: de novo (primary type) and secondary glioblastomas. Although our patient's immunohistochemical findings werenot enough to demonstrate the tumour subset, we have thought that her tumour was de novo because of no other brain involvement, staining with GFAP, vimentin, and nearly absent p53 mutation

Investigating Ecological Momentary Assessed Physical Activity and Core Executive Functions in 18- to 24-Year-Old Undergraduate Students

Although evidence for young children (<10) and older adults (>64) highlights an association between physical activity (PA) and executive functions (EFs), there is a paucity of research on adolescents aged 18–24 years. Thus, this study examined the associations between PA and EF and the difference in EF between individuals who achieve the moderate-to-vigorous (MVPA) guidelines and those who do not. Forty-seven participants engaged in a Stroop task, a reverse Corsi-block test, and a task-switching test, to measure inhibition, working memory, and cognitive flexibility, respectively. An ecological momentary assessment (EMA) was used to determine the participant’s MVPA and step count, through the “Pathverse” app. Multiple regressions were run to predict the task-switch cost, the Stroop effect, and the backward Corsi span from time spent in MVPA. A two-way ANCOVA examined the effects of achieving the MVPA guidelines on EF. MVPA and step count did not significantly predict EF. There were no significant differences in EF between participants achieving the MVPA guidelines and those that did not. Time spent in MVPA and step count were not significantly associated with working memory, cognitive flexibility, or inhibition in adolescents. Further research is warranted to understand other factors that may significantly affect EF, within and outside an individual’s control

The Relationship between Romantic Attachment and Coping Styles for Graduation Stress for College Seniors

The aim of the current study was to investigate the relationship between graduation stress and attachment domains for college seniors. Two hundred and fifteen university students expecting to graduate in one or two academic semester participated to the study. Out of the participants 123 (57.2%) were female, 78 (36.3%) were male, the mean age of participants was 22.06. Participants answered the questions of Experiences in Close Relationships Questionnaire-Revised (ECR-R; Fraley, Waller and Brennan 350) and Coping Style Scale (Şahin and Durak 56) via web-based database application. The results showed that students having high level of attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance were less likely to have problem focused/effective coping styles, and more likely to have emotion focused/ineffective coping styles when they feel stress related to graduation. This study has provided a helpful resource not only to the researchers but also to the practitioners and experts providing psychological support to university students
