MIVIS image geocoding experience on merging position attitude system data and public domain GPS stream (ASI-GeoDAF)
The use of airborne scanners involves geo-referencing problems, which are difficult because of the need to know
the exact platform position and attitude for each scan line. The errors of the onboard navigation system are normally
corrected using ground control point on the image. This post-processing correction procedure is too long
in case of multiple flight campaigns, and besides it implies the need to have available 1:10000 orthophotoimages
or maps in digital format. To optimize the above procedure a new method to correct MIVIS navigational
data in the post-processing phase has been implemented. The procedure takes into consideration the GPS stream
in Rinex format of common knowledge and findable on the web, acquired at the ground stations of the Geodetic
Data Archiving Facilities provided by ASI. The application of this correction entails the assumption that the
environmental variables affecting both onboard and geodetic GPS equally affect the position measurements. The
airborne data correction was carried out merging the two data sets (onboard and ground station GPS) to achieve
a more precise aircraft trajectory. The present study compares the geo-coded images obtained by means of the
two post-processing methods
Il servizio WCTS del Geoportale Nazionale
The 2007/2/CE INSPIRE directive requires every Member State to implement a set of services to
facilitate the interchange of spatial data; the Coordinate Transformation Service (CTS) is one of
the geometric transformation services required by the directive. The Italian National Geoportal
(GN) has recently published a new set of public access services that enable the users to transform
and convert the coordinate reference system of geographic data within the Italian territory using
the high-accuracy correction data provided by the Istituto Geografico Militare Italiano (IGM).
This article will illustrate these newly published services: a browser-based web application to
transform raster and vector files or sets of coordinates and an OGC-compliant Web Coordinate
Transformation Service (WCTS) that performs on the fly transformation of GML (Geography
Markup Language) data
The QARMAv2 Family of Tweakable Block Ciphers
We introduce the QARMAv2 family of tweakable block ciphers. It is a redesign of QARMA (from FSE 2017) to improve its security bounds and allow for longer tweaks, while keeping similar latency and area. The wider tweak input caters to both specific use cases and the design of modes of operation with higher security bounds. This is achieved through new key and tweak schedules, revised S-Box and linear layer choices, and a more comprehensive security analysis. QARMAv2 offers competitive latency and area in fully unrolled hardware implementations. Some of our results may be of independent interest. These include: new MILP models of certain classes of diffusion matrices; the comparative analysis of a full reflection cipher against an iterative half-cipher; our boomerang attack framework; and an improved approach to doubling the width of a block cipher
Moral Disengagement and Generalized Social Trust as Mediators and Moderators of Rule-Respecting Behaviors During the COVID-19 Outbreak
In this study, we tested a theoretical model with moral disengagement, a mediator, and generalized social trust (GST), a mediator and a moderator of the relationship between personality traits and rule-respecting behaviors (i.e., social distancing and stay-at-home), during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in Italy. The data were collected on 1520 participants (61% males). General results are threefold: (1) moral disengagement mediated the relationship between emotional stability, narcissism, psychopathy, and social distancing; (2) among components of GST, trust in Government mediated the relationship between psychopathy and social distancing; trust in known others mediated the relationship between emotional stability, agreeableness, and Machiavellianism with total number of exits; trust in unknown others mediated the relationship of emotional stability, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and psychopathy with average daily number of exits; (3) GST moderated the indirect effect of personality traits on rule-respecting behaviors through moral disengagement. The theoretical and practical importance of these results is discussed

Novel Ionic Liquid Synthesis of Bimetallic Fe–Ru Catalysts for the Direct Hydrogenation of CO2 to Short Chain Hydrocarbons
The selective hydrogenation of CO2 for the production of net-zero fuels and essential chemical building blocks is a promising approach to combat climate change. Key to this endeavor is the development of catalysts with high activity and selectivity for desired hydrocarbon products in the C2–C5 range. The process involves a two-step reaction, starting with the reverse water–gas shift (RWGS) reaction and proceeding to the Fischer–Tropsch reactions under high pressure. Understanding the catalyst features that control the selectivity of these pathways is crucial for product formation, as well as identifying morphological changes in the catalysts during the reaction to optimize their performance. In this study, an innovative method for synthesizing iron–ruthenium bimetallic catalysts is introduced, capitalizing on the synergistic effects of these metals as active phases. This method leverages ionic liquids as solvents, allowing for the precise and uniform distribution of active metal phases. Advanced characterizations and extensive catalytic tests have demonstrated that the use of ionic liquids outperformed traditional colloid-based techniques, resulting in superior selectivity for target hydrocarbons. The success of this inventive approach not only advances the field of CO2 hydrogenation catalysis, but also represents a significant stride towards sustainable e-fuel production
