Mass Formula for a Stationary Axisymmetric Configuration and the Physical Realization of the Kerr Metric

We analyse the expression for the mass of a stationary axisymmetric configuration in general relativity obtained in our previous work [1]. From the generality of our formula and its incompatibility with the corresponding expression in Kerr space-time we argue that a stationary equilibrium distribution of a real matter cannot be a source of the Kerr metric.Comment: RevTex, 5 pages, no figure

Studies of spin-orbit correlations at JLAB

Studies of single spin asymmetries for pion electroproduction in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering are presented using the polarized \sim6 GeV electrons from at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) and the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) with the Inner Calorimeter. The cross section versus the azimuthal angle {\phi}_h of the produced neutral pion has a substantial sin {\phi}_h amplitude. The dependence of this amplitude on Bjorken x_B and on the pion transverse momentum is extracted and compared with published data.Comment: proceedings of SPIN2010 conference (September-October 2010, Juelich-Germany

Including a lengthy, comprehensive introduction, this important collection brings together some of the most influential papers that have contributed to our understanding of management consultancy work. The two-volume set encompasses the breadth of conceptual and empirical perspectives and explores those key ideas that have helped to advance our knowledge of this intriguing area. The volumes are divided into a series of thematic sections, affording the reader easy access to a great resource of information. Professors Clark and Avakian have written an original introduction which provides a comprehensive overview of the literature

Fully Differential Monte-Carlo Generator Dedicated to TMDs and Bessel-Weighted Asymmetries

    Get PDF
We present studies of double longitudinal spin asymmetries in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering using a new dedicated Monte Carlo generator, which includes quark intrinsic transverse momentum within the generalized parton model based on the fully differential cross section for the process. Additionally, we apply Bessel-weighting to the simulated events to extract transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions and also discuss possible uncertainties due to kinematic correlation effects.Comment: 3rd Workshop on the QCD Structure of the Nucleon (QCD-N'12) October 22-26, 2012, Bilbao, Spai

Deep exclusive charged π\pi electroproduction above the resonance region

A description of exclusive charged pion electroproduction (e,eπ±)(e,e'\pi^{\pm}) off nucleons at high energies is proposed. The model combines a Regge pole approach with residual effect of nucleon resonances. The exchanges of π\pi(140), vector ρ(770)\rho(770) and axial-vector a1(1260)a_1(1260) and b1(1235)b_1(1235) Regge trajectories are considered. The contribution of nucleon resonances is described using a dual connection between the exclusive hadronic form factors and inclusive deep inelastic structure functions. The model describes the measured longitudinal, transverse and interference cross sections at JLAB and DESY. The scaling behavior of the cross sections is in agreement with JLAB and deeply virtual HERMES data. The results for a polarized beam-spin azimuthal asymmetry in (e,eπ±)(\vec{e},e'\pi^{\pm}) are presented. Model predictions for JLAB at 12 GeV are given.Comment: 29 page

Improved Crystal Method for Photon Beam Linear Polarization Measurement at High Energies

A method for photon linear polarization determination based on the measurement of the asymmetry of pairs produced by polarized photons in single crystals within the optimal intervals of pair particles energies is proposed. In difference to the well known methods the asymmetry in this case is essentially larger. The optimal orientation of crystal is found which provides the maximal values for analyzing power and figure of merit as well as minimal measurement time.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure

Constraints on spin-dependent parton distributions at large x from global QCD analysis

We investigate the behavior of spin-dependent parton distribution functions (PDFs) at large parton momentum fractions x in the context of global QCD analysis. We explore the constraints from existing deep-inelastic scattering data, and from theoretical expectations for the leading x -> 1 behavior based on hard gluon exchange in perturbative QCD. Systematic uncertainties from the dependence of the PDFs on the choice of parametrization are studied by considering functional forms motivated by orbital angular momentum arguments. Finally, we quantify the reduction in the PDF uncertainties that may be expected from future high-x data from Jefferson Lab at 12 GeV.Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures, 1 tabl

A study of the consultant-client relationship: examining aspects of legitimation

This thesis provides an in-depth study of the consultant client relationship. It focuses on the phenomenon of legitimation which has been neglected in the prior literature. Legitimation is critical because it is responsible for signifying how and why knowledge claims come to be accepted or rejected between the client-consultant parties. The consultants' perceived value by the client is an outcome that is dependent on the economic and socio-political processes by which judgements are made. How legitimation takes place helps provides a new locus of understanding about the communication of business advice between consultants and clients. Such exploration helps generate novel insights for how value is created. Through the conduct of in-depth interviews with both consultants and clients, we managed to obtain comprehensive empirical data that helps challenge already held assumptions. Drawing on 64 interviews, with clients and consultants, and through the use of prior theoretical frameworks that are mainly drawn from the work by Suchman (1995) and Habermas (1984a, 1984b), we identify four modes of legitimation. Such modes are characterised in terms of their cognitive, pragmatic, moral and discursive nuances. We argue that each of the legitimatory categories indicate a separate set of conditions that need to be justified and which are driven by a distinct ideological character. Legitimation becomes a process in which implicit and explicit ideological values are mutually managed between the involved organisational actors. Our discussion helps open up a new field of understanding for the consultant client relationship that is relevant for both academics and practitioners
