    The activated torsion oscillation magnetometer

The activated torsion oscillation magnetometer exploits the mechanical resonance of a cantilever beam, driven by the torque exerted on the sample by an ac field applied perpendicularly to the film plane. We describe a model for the cantilever dynamics which leads to the calculation of the cantilever dynamic profile and allows the mechanical sensitivity of the instrument to be expressed in terms of the minimum electronically detectable displacement. We have developed a capacitance detector of small oscillations which is able to detect displacements of the order of 0.1 nm. We show that sensitivities of the order of 0.5(10-11 Am2 can be in principle achieved. We will subsequently describe the main features of the ATOM prototype which we have built and tested, with particular attention to the design solutions which have been adopted in order to reduce the effects of parasitic vibrations due either to acoustic noise, originating from the ac field coil, or to eddy currents in the capacitor electrodes. The instrument is mounted in a continuous flow cryostat and can work in the 4.2-300 K temperature range. Finally, we will show that our experimental set-up has a second mode of operation, named Torsion Induction Magnetometer (TIM).Comment: Invited Talk at the Moscow International Symposium on Magnetism, 2002 to appear in the J. Dynamic hysteresis from zigzag domain walls

    Get PDF
We investigate dynamic hysteresis in ferromagnetic thin films with zigzag domain walls. We introduce a discrete model describing the motion of a wall in a disordered ferromagnet with in-plane magnetization, driven by an external magnetic field, considering the effects of dipolar interactions and anisotropy. We analyze the effects of external field frequency and temperature on the coercive field by Monte Carlo simulations, and find a good agreement with the experimental data reported in literature for Fe/GaAs films. This implies that dynamic hysteresis in this case can be explained by a single propagating domain wall model without invoking domain nucleation.Comment: 10 pages, 13 figures; minor modifications and two figures adde

The aim of the study was to find out the time allocation of women's activities in wetland rice farming in the form of nursery activities, planting, weeding, fertilizing, harvesting until processing land, and controlling pests and diseases only carried out by men. The outpouring of a woman's work time in productive activities depends a lot on socio-economic factors and the condition of her family. Socio-economic factors that influence the outpouring of working time for female farmers are age level, number of family dependents, wage level, land area, marital status, education level, and level of experience. The study lasted for 4 (four) months starting from April to July 2018 in Rasi Satu Village, Ratahan District, Southeast Minahasa Regency. The data used are primary data collected through interviews with 20 women farmers as respondents. Secondary data was obtained from the Rasi Satu Village office. The analysis used is descriptive in table form. The results showed that the outpouring of working time of women in wetland farming in Rasi Satu Village was at nursery activities of 6.86%, planting of 22.08%, weeding of 20.26%, fertilization of 10.06%, harvest of 40.74%. But land management, and control of pests and diseases is only done by men.*eprm*

Barium alginate capsules for 3D immobilisation of living cells: morphology, membrane properties and permeability

    Get PDF
Encapsulation in a barium alginate membrane is a promising strategy to obtain a three dimensional culture of living cells: membrane properties are crucial for a realistic clinical application. A one-step encapsulation technique, recently developed for controlled release of boar semen, was employed to prepare barium alginate and protamine-alginate membranes: permeability to two model molecules (haemoglobin and glucose) was evaluated. Capsules were evaluated for technological properties and scanning electron microscopy was used to examine the external morphology of the capsules and the 3D distribution of the cells within the core. The results indicate that 3D arrangement and cell shape are maintained, capsule dimensions and mechanical properties can be modulated, as well as their permeability to model molecules such as haemoglobin and glucose

As a manufacturing company before production, they should make production planning and calculate the production costs. One of the production cost planning tools are production budget. The company usually budgeting their production cost by prediction total cost, not consider the product, material, labour and mechine, its make company harder to evaluate the absorption of production budgets. Activity based budgeting method (ABB method) was a budgeting tools considering activity. The goal make this information system help company make production planning considering activity and evaluate company performance by evaluate the absosrption of budgeting (comparision between budget and realization). This information system built with the object-oriented method and development model with SDLC, use the programming language PHP and CodeIgniter framework. This system has the functionality to make production budget such as budgetary costs of raw materials, the cost of direct labor, and factory overhead costs based on the activity and also make transactions in accounting journals and ledgers and make realization budget reports and make comparison report between budget and realization and evaluating. The functionality of application has run 100% after tested with black box testing and user acceptance tests have been performed

The objectives of this study are to find out whether or not; (1) There is a significant effect of Mad Libs technique on Students’ Learning Achievement in Learning Personal Pronouns (2) There is a significant contribution of the Mad Libs technique on Students’ Learning Achievement in Learning Personal pronouns? This research used factorial experimental designs.  These designs are essentially modifications of either the posttest-only control group or pretest-posttest control group designs. The sample was the students of PGRI University of Palembang. Two classes were chosen in which first class was experimental with male students was applied and the second was the second experimental group trained by Mad Libs with female students. The results showed that the First, Mad Libs technique affected the students’ learning achievement in learning Personal Pronoun at PGRI University. The result of t independent test was the mean of the experimental group was higher than the mean of the control group. It could be concluded; the experimental group and control group were significantly different and the Mad Libs technique was effective to use in improving students’ achievement in learning personal pronouns.  Second, there was an interaction effect of the Mad Libs technique and students’ learning achievement toward achievement in learning personal pronouns

The Effect of Supportive Group Therapy on the Burden and Coping Mechanisms in Caring for Family Members Who Suffer Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a psychiatric illness that causes the burden and maladaptive coping mechanism on the family. The burden and maladaptive coping mechanisms have an impact on the quality of family life and the ability of families to care for schizophrenic patients. The purpose of this study was to prove the effect of supportive group therapy on the burden and coping mechanisms in caring for family members who suffer schizophrenia. The design of this research was a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental study with control group design. The number of samples was 14 in the treatment group and 15 in the control group with purposive sampling. Variable of burden was measured with the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) and the coping mechanism was assessed by using Brief COPE Inventory (BCI). This supportive therapy was performed in 4 sessions with a total of 6 meetings. The results showed that there were significant differences on burden values and coping mechanisms before and after supportive therapy in the treatment group (p-value= 0.000). In the control group, there was a significant difference on the value of burden before and after health counseling (p-value =0.010), but there was no difference of coping mechanism value before and after health counseling (p-value=0.225). There were significant differences on the burden value (p-value=0.002) and coping mechanisms (p-value= 0.001) between treatment and control group. dr Rehatta Hospital is expected to facilitate the formation of peer support group in the psychiatry clinic so mental health in the family can be achieved

    Get PDF
We present a geological map at 1: 25,000 scale of the Plio-Quaternary L'Aquila-Scoppito intermontane basin (central Italy), which corresponds to the epicentral area of the 6th April 2009 L'Aquila earthquake (Mw: 6.29). The map is derived from geological field surveys at 1: 5000 scale and takes into account previously published maps. It is supported by a fine-scale LiDAR digital elevation model, paleontological analyses, C-14 dating, well log analyses of deep boreholes, and geophysical data interpretation. By taking into account that the remarkable historical and present-day seismicity of the area is the result of its PlioQuaternary geological evolution, the aim of this study is to produce a fine-scale geological map of the study area through a comprehensive analysis of the occurring Plio-Quaternary synthems and the tectonic processes that are taking place within it
