Mission to Planet Earth (MTPE) is a NASA-sponsored concept that uses space- and ground-based measurement systems to provide the scientific basis for understanding global change. The space-based components of MTPE will provide a constellation of satellites to monitor the Earth from space. Sustained observations will allow researchers to monitor climate variables overtime to determine trends; however, space-based monitoring alone is not sufficient. A comprehensive data and information system, a community of scientists performing research with the data acquired, and extensive ground campaigns are all important components. Brief descriptions of the various elements that comprise the overall mission are provided. The Earth Observing System (EOS) - a series of polar-orbiting and low-inclination satellites for long-term global observations of the land surface, biosphere, solid Earth, atmosphere, and oceans - is the centerpiece of MTPE. A comparative study between visual, near infrared and infrared images for the detection of veins for intravenous cannulation

The process of identification and locating of veins plays an important role to reduce health care cost and suffering of patients during intravenous cannulation. This paper compares between three technologies to assess their suitability and capability for the detection of veins. Three types of cameras are used in this study, a visual camera, an infrared camera and a near infrared camera. The collected data has then been subjected to analysis and comparison using different image processing techniques, namely grayscale, invert grayscale, histogram equalisation, edge detection (difference of Gaussians) and unsharp mask enhancement to improve the visualisation of veins. In this study, the near infrared images supported by suitable LED illumination has been found to be the most effective technology and the most cost effective for the visualisation of veins

This study aimed to find out how the KB village Kampung Program Implementation Strategy in The Lipukasi Village, Tanete Rilau District, Barru Regency. This study used a qualitative descriptive research method system. Data collection techniques were observation, interview and documentation. While data analysis used data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The result of this study showed that The Strategy in Implementing the KB Village Program in Lipukasi Village, Tanete Rilau District, Barru Regency had been running quite well, this could be seen with the number of KB village programs that had been implemented. However, constraints occurred in the Implementation such as community participation, budget and communication of each agency was still not optimal. In the case of Malaysia, state-managed policy of the “structuralist approach” has become a yardstick for its development. Government in Malaysia work hand in hand with private sectors to accelerate the pace of industrialisation embodied in the Malaysia’s “Vision 2020”. This objective cannot be fulfilled without any contribution from foreign direct investment (FDI) and Malaysian economic experience has proven that FDI is vital for its development. This in part, indicates how vulnerable Malaysia is to the trends at international level. However, the country’s heavy reliance on FDI is not the sole choice of the Malaysian Government, nor does the decision of the capital-exporting countries, but the real mechanism which determines this is the market power. In this sense, the ‘wave’ of FDI is not a phenomenon in Malaysia only, but also to other part of the world, especially the ASEAN countries. In fact, Malaysia was not the first to promote FDI in this region, but it was rather a follower of this policy that proved successful in its neighbouring countries.
