The prime goal of feminism is to raise consciousness and bring about transformation for a gender-equitable world. The movement has continuously been broadening its perspective and undergoing transitions, producing ‘cartographies of knowledge and power’ (Alexander and Mohanty 2015). As the creation of feminist epistemology and knowledge exchange is key to this process, The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM) has taken the initiative to organize the World Conference on Women Studies (WCWS) every year. The 7th WCWS was organized amidst the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic that took place online from the 20th to 22nd of May 2021. The theme of the conference—“Transnational Feminisms: Contexts, Collaborations, Contestations: Toward a Liveable Planet”—draws from postcolonial feminist theories and transnational feminist practice that is involved in activist movements across the globe that work together to comprehend the role of gender, race, class, sexuality, and the state in critiquing and resisting patriarchal structures and capitalist powers. Transnational feminists focus on the diverse experiences of women who live within, between, and at the margins of nation-states around the globe; they rise above the boundaries and speak to a wider intersecting force impacting gendered relationships and experiences. According to Margaret A. McLaren (2017), transnational feminism results in ‘decolonizing feminism’ and Sylvanna M. Falcón (2016) calls it a ‘Paradigm for Decolonizing the Practice of Research.

When an intense brightness for a small amount of time is seen in the sun, then we can say that a solar flare emerged. As solar flares are made up of high energy photons and particles, thus causing the production of high electric fields and currents and therefore results in the disruption in space-borne or ground-based technological system. It also becomes a challenging task to extract its important features for prediction. Convolutional Neural Networks have gain a significant amount of popularity in the classification and localization tasks. This paper has given stress on the classification of the solar flares emerged on different years by stacking different convolutional layers followed by max pooling layers. From the reference of Alexnet, the pooling layer employed in this paper is the overlapping pooling. Also two different activation functions that are ELU and CReLU have been used to investigate how many number of convolutional layers with a particular activation function provides with the best results on this dataset as the size of the dataset in this domain is always small. The proposed investigation can be further used in a novel solar prediction systems

Background: We aim to study the correlation of thrombocytosis and hyperfibrinogenemia with ovarian tumors and its role in the diagnosis of ovarian malignancy. And to evaluate the platelet and fibrinogen levels in early and advanced stage ovarian disease. Methods: This is a single centre prospective study. We evaluated plasma fibrinogen levels and plasma platelet levels in 250 patients in women presenting in our OPD with adnexal masses/ovarian tumors. Thrombocytosis was defined as a platelet count greater than >410,000/uL. Hyperfibrinogenemia was defined as a fibrinogen level higher than 360 mg/dL. The association between plasma fibrinogen, platelet levels and clinico-pathological, histopathological parameters were investigated in regards to: 1. Malignant or benign ovarian tumor. 2. Early or advanced disease in malignant ovarian tumors. A multivariate logistic regression model was performed to identify an independent association. Results: Thrombocytosis and hyperfibrinogenemia are seen to be associated with malignant ovarian tumors. In a multivariate model, plasma fibrinogen and plasma platelet levels were identified to be independently associated with the malignant ovarian tumours. Within the EOC cohort, patients with advanced stage disease had higher plasma fibrinogen levels than patients with early stage. Conclusions: In this study, we demonstrated that both thrombocytosis and hyperfibrinogenemia were positively associated with malignant ovarian tumors. They were also associated with advanced disease stage, elevated CA125 level and other markers. These finding are in accordance with the previous published data from patients with ovarian cancer, indicating that the platelet and fibrinogen levels increase in parallel with tumor progression and metastasis. Thus confirming the role of elevated platelet and fibrinogen levels in diagnosis and prognosis of ovarian Malignancy

Importance Of Emotional Intelligence In The Workplace

The term emotional intelligence is often contrasted with Intelligence Quotient. Many of us are aware of IQ as an individualrsquos score performing a series of tests designed to measure intellectual intelligence. Higher IQs indicate better cognitive abilitiesmdashthese include the ability to learn and understandmdashand people with higher IQs are more likely to do well academically. Intelligence Quotient is a measure for a person#39s intelligence whereas Emotional Intelligence (EI), measured as an Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EQ), describes a concept that involves the ability, capacity, skill or a self-perceived ability, to identify, assess, and manage the emotions of onersquos self, of others, and of groups. The EQ concept argues that IQ, or conventional intelligence, is too narrow that there are wider areas of emotional intelligence that dictate and enable how successful we are. At the workplace, emotional intelligence is very important. It is believed that while cognitive skills help to get a job, it is emotional intelligence that helps to get promotions. Those who are in the higher levels of the organizational hierarchy require more emotional intelligence than those in the lower levels. It is believed that at the workplace, emotional intelligence is twice as important as analytical and technical skills. The present paper deals with the concept of Emotional Intelligence as a significant area of professional growth and highlights its importance in the workplace

Aim: Sex determination by   Using Mesiodistal Dimensions of Anterior Teethin Punjab population. Methods: This study had a total of 60 study individuals who were chosen at random. The patients ranged in age from 18 to 30 years old, with no history or clinical signs of crown repair, orthodontic therapy, or trauma. They had a full set of erupting teeth. The teeth were noncarious, nonattrited, intact, and peridontally healthy. All of the maxillary teeth were properly positioned. Following informed permission, the mesiodistal dimensions of maxillary front teeth were measured between anatomic contact sites using a vernier calliper held parallel to the occlusal plane. Results: The study's findings revealed that teeth 13 and 23 had sexual dimorphism, but teeth 11, 12, 21, and 22 had no statistically significant sexual dimorphism. The precision with which gender may be determined using 13. It was discovered that 13 (43.33 percent) females and 15 (50 percent) males were accurately categorised. When the degree of accuracy for sex determination was examined using 23 unique males and females, it was discovered that 63.33 percent of females and 63.33 percent of males were accurately categorised.&nbsp

Early integration of palliative care in cervical cancer: Experiences from a pilot study

Introduction: Palliative care (PC) has been classically synonymous with end-of-life care offered to patients with advanced incurable cancers with an aim to improve their quality-of-life (QoL). However, there is growing evidence to suggest that early integration of PC (EIPC) along with cancer-directed management improves patient-reported outcomes. In this study, we aim to evaluate the impact of EIPC on QoL of cervical cancer patients treated with curative intent. Material and Methods: Patients with locally advanced cervical cancer (stage IB2 to IIIB) having eastern cooperative oncology group (ECOG) performance score 0–2 were randomized into EIPC arm and standard of care arm of concurrent chemoradiation by a computer-generated table of random numbers. QoL was assessed by functional assessment of cancer therapy – general (FACT-G) questionnaire twice in both arms. The first assessment was done prior to starting treatment and second assessment at three months after treatment completion. The mean scores on physical, mental, emotional, social, and functional well-being subscales of FACT-G scale were calculated in both arms, and Wilcoxon test was used to evaluate differences in QoL scores within and in between the arms. This trial was registered with Clinical Trials Registry of India (CTRI) vide CTRI/2017/05/008704. Results: Fifty patients were enrolled in each arm. However, only 42 and 45 patients in EPIC and standard oncological care arm were evaluated in the final analysis. Comparing QoL scores between the two time points in each arm, the mean pre-treatment scores in EIPC arm was significantly higher than post-treatment scores in the domains of physical and emotional well-being, whereas social and functional well-being scores improved significantly after treatment as compared with that as baseline. However, when compared between two arms, the difference of mean scores pre- and post-treatment were almost similar for physical and functional well-being but statistically significant differences were found only in social and emotional well-being scales. Conclusions: Our study is a feasibility study done in an attempt to test the validity of EIPC in cervical cancers. The results are inspiring to conduct robust studies in the future to explore this new domain of integration of palliative services in curable cancers
