Evaluation process, relegation and weeding in the Maimonides library, University of Córdoba

La gestión de la colección necesita actualmente de herramientas y acciones que contribuyan a su evaluación constante. El objetivo es el de conseguir una colección relevante adaptándose a las necesidades de los usuarios. Entre aquéllas destaca el expurgo. Se analizan aquí los procesos de evaluación, relegación y expurgo de la Biblioteca Maimónides de la Universidad de Córdoba, los factores que determinaron su implantación, su periodicidad, la intervención secuencial de los servicios implicados, calendario y objetivos. Todas las acciones se enmarcan en un proceso de autorregulación de la colección y evaluación constante de la misma. Se exponen las características de la colección de la biblioteca, su origen, evolución, el fondo bibliográfico sometido al proceso y las excepciones contempladas. Se analizan asimismo las acciones previas a la sistematización del proceso, realizadas mediante la donación de duplicados, implementadas en la biblioteca desde su creación. Los resultados obtenidos son considerados un instrumento básico en la gestión de la colección: actualización de la colección de Libre Acceso, liberación de espacios, reestructuración de los mismos, así como de secciones, y mejora de reubicación de los fondos bibliográficos.Currently, the collection management needs a set of tools and actions that contribute to its ongoing evaluation. Its aim is to achieve a significant collection adapted to the users needs. Among the highlighted actions we emphasize the weeding. We analyze the evaluation process, relegation and weeding in the Maimonides Library, University of Córdoba, the factors that determine their location, their periodicity, sequential intervention, services involved, timing and objectives. All actions are part of a self-regulatory process of the collection and ongoing evaluation of it. We expose the characteristics of Maimonides library’s collections, their origin, their evolution, the library holdings under the weeding and the considered exceptions. Furthermore, we develop an analysis of the previous actions, to the implementation of the process, which consisted in the duplicated book’s donations. These actions were put into practice since the library creation. The results are considered a basic tool in management collection, such as the update of the collection of free access, freedom of space, restructuring them, as well as sections, recolocation and improvement of library collections

Evaluation of a new automated Abbott RealTime MTB RIF/INH assay for qualitative detection of rifampicin/isoniazid resistance in pulmonary and extra-pulmonary clinical samples of Mycobacterium tuberculosis

A new automated real-time PCR assay for the detection of rifampicin (RIF) and isoniazid (INH) resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) was evaluated. A total of 163 clinical samples (128 pulmonary and 35 extra-pulmonary) were processed using four PCR assay kits: Abbott RealTime MTB RIF/INH, Genotype MTBDRplus, Xpert/MTB RIF, and Anyplex MTB/MDR. The results of phenotypic drug-susceptibility testing using BACTECMGIT 960 were used as reference. The sensitivity and specificity of the new Abbott RealTime MTB RIF/ INH assay in comparison with phenotypic testing was 96.3% (95%CI 87.32%–100%) for RIF and 100% (95%CI 99.3%–100%) for INH; the sensitivity was 78.8% (95%CI 66.8%–90.9%) and the specificity was 100% (95%CI 98.9%–100%). The Abbott RealTime MTB RIF/INH test could be a valid method for detecting the most common mutations in strains resistant to RIF and INH

The Memory of esparto and its industry in Cieza (Murcia). Notes on the recovery and enhancement of an Intangible and Industrial Heritage and Landscape recovery

El aprovechamiento histórico del esparto es una de las señas de identidad del sureste español. A su uso tradicional se suma una explotación industrial cuyo esplendor tiene lugar a mediados del siglo XX. Este trabajo aborda los aspectos culturales vinculados a esta industria en Cieza (Murcia), con especial atención a los valores inmateriales, industriales y paisajísticos asociados. Por otro lado, se estudia el sistema de protección vigente y la situación de estos bienes. Finalmente, se presentan y analizan las iniciativas de recuperación de este patrimonio llevadas a cabo desde el Museo-Centro de Interpretación del Esparto de Cieza.The historical use of esparto is ingrained in the identity of southeast Spain. Along with its traditional uses, it benefited from an industrial boom in the middle of the 20th century. This paper addresses the cultural aspects linked to this industry in Cieza (Murcia), paying special attention to the intangible assets, and to both the industrial and landscape values. On the other hand, the current protection system and the situation of these heritage sites is also examined. Finally, we present and analyze the recovery efforts of this cultural heritage carried out by the Museum and Center of Interpretation of Esparto in Cieza

Molecular Segmentation of the Spinal Trigeminal Nucleus in the Adult Mouse Brain

To access the final edited and published work see https://doi.org/10.3389/fnana.2021.785840The trigeminal column is a hindbrain structure formed by second order sensory neurons that receive afferences from trigeminal primary (ganglionic) nerve fibers. Classical studies subdivide it into the principal sensory trigeminal nucleus located next to the pontine nerve root, and the spinal trigeminal nucleus which in turn consists of oral, interpolar and caudal subnuclei. On the other hand, according to the prosomeric model, this column would be subdivided into segmental units derived from respective rhombomeres. Experimental studies have mapped the principal sensory trigeminal nucleus to pontine rhombomeres (r) r2-r3 in the mouse. The spinal trigeminal nucleus emerges as a plurisegmental formation covering several rhombomeres (r4 to r11 in mice) across pontine, retropontine and medullary hindbrain regions. In the present work we reexamined the issue of rhombomeric vs. classical subdivisions of this column. To this end, we analyzed its subdivisions in an AZIN2-lacZ transgenic mouse, known as a reference model for hindbrain topography, together with transgenic reporter lines for trigeminal fibers. We screened as well for genes differentially expressed along the axial dimension of this structure in the adult and juvenile mouse brain. This analysis yielded genes from multiple functional families that display transverse domains fitting the mentioned rhombomeric map. The spinal trigeminal nucleus thus represents a plurisegmental structure with a series of distinct neuromeric units having unique combinatorial molecular profiles

Per tal de poder assolir aquest objectiu, hem identificat i analitzat les necessitats dels estudiants; elaborat les activitats i sistematització de recursos de recerca socioeducativa i aplicat i avaluat les activitats proposades. Aquest pla de treball ha derivat en la creació d’una página web (Investiga!), on l’alumnat pot accedir a continguts, eines, recursos, activitats, treballs i més sobre recerca socioeducativa. Aquesta web, no només suposa una eina de formació complementària molt útil i significativa per a l’alumnat que respon a una necessitat detectada, sinó que suposa, d’acord amb el procés de convergència europea, el profesor com a “facilitador” de l’aprenentatge de l’alumnat
