La sociedad andina

Hasta este punto de nuestra revista de sociedades hemos estado identificando representantes extintos de la especie que han dejado este o aquel monumento en el mundo de nuestro tiempo, sea bajo la forma de fósiles, sea, si no, bajo la forma de sociedades vivientes de las que aquellas sociedades extintas son "paternas" -o con las que están en relación menos intima- en primer o segundo grado. A fin de completar la revista basta los limites de nuestro conocimiento de aquí y ahora, debemos también tratar de identificar, por analogía con los ejemplares ya identificados,  los representantes de la especie que, ni están vivos hoy día ellos mismos, ni están en relación en forma alguna con ninguno de los representantes vivientes, ni tampoco han dejado huellas bajo la forma de fósiles, sino que nos son conocidos únicamente a través de nuestros documentos literarios y arqueológicos

Microfoundations

This paper argues that the microfoundations programme can be understood as an implementation of an underlying methodological principle—methodological individualism—and that it therefore shares a fundamental ambiguity with that principle, viz, whether the macro must be derived from and therefore reducible to, or rather consistent with, micro-level behaviours. The pluralist conclusion of the paper is not that research guided by the principle of microfoundations is necessarily wrong, but that the exclusion of approaches not guided by that principle is indeed necessarily wrong. The argument is made via an examination of the advantages claimed for dynamic stochastic general equilibrium models, the relationship between parts and wholes in social science, and the concepts of reduction, substrate neutrality, the intentional stance, and hypostatisation

Su alcuni punti nodali della questione ucraina (XIX-XXI secolo)

The chapter analyses the \u201cUkrainian Question\u201d, through examples of old and new analyses on Ukrainian identity, starting from an essay written by the British historian A.J. Toynbee in 1916, when the result of the WW1 and the future of Ukraine was still uncertain. Toynbee\u2019s assumptions are compared with interpretations given by various authors from 19th up to 21st centuries, showing that the crux of the matter is still debated by conteporary analysts. In conclusion, it is expressed the hope that the new presidency could take significant steps in order to consolidate the Ukrainian sovereignity in a peaceful perspective of democratic development
