The objective of this study was to measure the duration of the suicidal process among patients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). The sample included 110 female patients who met DSM-IV-TR criteria for BPD and were consecutively admitted after suicide-related behavior. A total of 63 patients (58%) reported that their suicidal process lasted 10 minutes or less. After being adjusted, the β coefficient of impulsivity scales in women with a suicidal process ≤10 minutes was lower compared to those observed in women with >10 min (β = −0.03, 95% CI = −0.06 = −0.01, p < 0.01). Suicidal patients with BPD can be divided into two groups; patients who report a suicidal process less than 10 minutes show a higher degree of impulsivity.Fil: Daray, Federico Manuel. List of Species as recorded by Canadian and EU Bottom Trawl Surveys in Flemish Cap

    Get PDF
A list of species has been prepared with all records in each haul of both Canadian (1977-1985) and EU (1988-2002 and 2003-2012) bottom trawl surveys. Even though sampling intensity and taxonomic interest changed with time, the three periods can be considered almost homogeneous. Main change occurred when the EU survey increased the depth range, from 730 to 1460 meters depth, and all invertebrates were recorded

This article belongs to the Special Issue Advances in Molecular Biosensors.Even with the widespread uptake of vaccines, the SARS-CoV-2-induced COVID-19 pandemic continues to overwhelm many healthcare systems worldwide. Consequently, massive scale molecular diagnostic testing remains a key strategy to control the ongoing pandemic, and the need for instrument-free, economic and easy-to-use molecular diagnostic alternatives to PCR remains a goal of many healthcare providers, including WHO. We developed a test (Repvit) based on gold nanoparticles that can detect SARS-CoV-2 RNA directly from nasopharyngeal swab or saliva samples with a limit of detection (LOD) of 2.1 × 105 copies mL−1 by the naked eye (or 8 × 104 copies mL−1 by spectrophotometer) in less than 20 min, without the need for any instrumentation, and with a manufacturing price of <$1. We tested this technology on 1143 clinical samples from RNA extracted from nasopharyngeal swabs (n = 188), directly from saliva samples (n = 635; assayed by spectrophotometer) and nasopharyngeal swabs (n = 320) from multiple centers and obtained sensitivity values of 92.86%, 93.75% and 94.57% and specificities of 93.22%, 97.96% and 94.76%, respectively. To our knowledge, this is the first description of a colloidal nanoparticle assay that allows for rapid nucleic acid detection at clinically relevant sensitivity without the need for external instrumentation that could be used in resource-limited settings or for self-testing.This research was funded by EITB Maratoia (BIO21/COV/032/BD) and Iniciativa Medtech (BIO21/COV/032/BD) grants. Report of the Regional Co-ordination Meeting for the North Sea and Eastern Arctic (RCM NS&EA) 2013 final report European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA) Vigo, Spain 09/09/2013-13/09/2013The Regional Coordination Meeting for the North Sea & Eastern Arctic (RCM NS&EA) was held in September 2013 in Vigo (Spain). The main task of the RCM’s is to coordinate the National Programmes (NP), which propose the national data collection to be carried out by the Member States (MS) under the EU Data Collection Framework (DCF). It was envisaged that, from 2104 onwards, data collection by the MS would be carried out under a new framework (DC-MAP). However, the legislation for this framework is not ready yet. Therefore the Commission has decided to extend the present DCF for the time being and the most recent NPs have been adopted for 2014. Since these NP have been adopted without any changes, there is no need for major coordinatio

Hidratos de gas marinos: ¿un recurso futuro de gas natural para Europa? M.

    Get PDF
Gas hydrates are crystalline compounds where a molecule of gas, mainly methane, is trapped in a cage of icewater molecules. The importance of gas hydrates in nature is very high because it is an alternative source of energy and play a major role in the delicate balance of the global climate and in the marine geological risks. MIGRATE COST action is designed to integrate the experience of a large number of European research groups and industrial players to promote the development of multidisciplinary knowledge on the potential of gas hydrates as energy resource in Europe. Two of the objectives of the action aim to estimate the European inventory of exploitable gas hydrates and to assess environmental risks. In this work we show the occurrences of gas hydrates described in European margins including the Iberian Peninsula, with a first approximation on the thickness and location of the area of stability of gas hydrates in the Iberian margin.COST Action ES1405 (MIGRATE)Versión del edito

Tratamientos psicológicos empíricamente apoyados para adultos: Una revisión selectiva

    Get PDF
Background: Psychological treatments have shown their efficacy, effectiveness, and efficiency in dealing with mental disorders. However, considering the scientific knowledge generated in recent years, in the Spanish context, there are no updating studies about empirically supported psychological treatments. The main goal was to carry out a selective review of the main empirically supported psychological treatments for mental disorders in adults. Method: Levels of evidence and degrees of recommendation were collected based on the criteria proposed by the Spanish National Health System (Clinical Practice Guidelines) for different psychological disorders. Results: The results indicate that psychological treatments have empirical support for the approach to a wide range of psychological disorders. These levels of empirical evidence gathered range from low to high depending on the psychological disorder analysed. The review indicates the existence of certain fields of intervention that need further investigation. Conclusions: Based on this selective review, psychology professionals will be able to have rigorous, up-to-date information that allows them to make informed decisions when implementing empirically based psychotherapeutic procedures based on the characteristics of the people who require help

New Concepts in Cancer Biomarkers: Circulating miRNAs in Liquid Biopsies

    No full text
The effective and efficient management of cancer patients relies upon early diagnosis and/or the monitoring of treatment, something that is often difficult to achieve using standard tissue biopsy techniques. Biological fluids such as blood hold great possibilities as a source of non-invasive cancer biomarkers that can act as surrogate markers to biopsy-based sampling. The non-invasive nature of these “liquid biopsies” ultimately means that cancer detection may be earlier and that the ability to monitor disease progression and/or treatment response represents a paradigm shift in the treatment of cancer patients. Below, we review one of the most promising classes of circulating cancer biomarkers: microRNAs (miRNAs). In particular, we will consider their history, the controversy surrounding their origin and biology, and, most importantly, the hurdles that remain to be overcome if they are really to become part of future clinical practice

Facies characterization of the transitional zone of the Galicia continental margin and the giant Pockmark Gran Burato

    No full text
International Symposium on Marine Sciences (6º. 2018. Vigo)Five piston cores extracted from the Transitional Zone (TZ) of the Galicia continental margin and six TOPAS seismic profiles, allowed the definition of five main sedimentary facies and their west to east correlation across the giant pockmark Gran Burato structure. This pockmark shows a circular morphology of 4 km of diameter and a maximum depth of 375 m, and high slopes characterize it. Facies classification was performed using grain size, magnetic susceptibility, and high-resolution XRF, RGB colour and grey line data obtained by an ITRAXTM corer scanner. A set of multivariate statistical analyses confirmed the facies classification.Departamento de Xeociencias mariñas e ordenación do territorio, Universidade de Vigo, EspañaDepartamento de Geociências, Universidade de Aveiro, PortugalInstituto Geológico y Minero de España, Españ

Design of colorimetric nanostructured sensor phases for simple and fast quantification of low concentrations of acid vapors

    Get PDF
Two colorimetric nanostructured sensor phases (Color-NSPs) for the determination of low concentrations of acid vapors in the atmosphere of paper storage rooms have been designed and characterized. The acid vapor determination is based on the color change that occurs in polyaniline (PANI) in the presence of acids when it goes from its emeraldine base form (blue) to its emeraldine salt form (green). To synthesize the Color-NSPs, two methods have been used, a one-step method performed by grafting polyaniline onto a cellulose membrane (Cellu-PANI) and a two-step method in which in the first step, polyaniline is grafted onto the surface of polymeric nanoparticles (NPs-PANI), and in a second step, NPs-PANI are immobilized into the pores of a nylon membrane (Nylon-NPs PANI). The response of the sensors versus acid vapor was measured by color coordinates with a photographic camera. A linear response range from 1 ppmv to 7 ppmv was found for both sensors, and the detection limits were 0.95 ppmv (1.2 % RSD) and 0.40 ppmv (0.8 % RSD) for Cellu-PANI and Nylon-NPs PANI, respectively. In addition, both sensors showed complete reversibility and a short exposition time (5 min). The potential applicability of the Color-NSPs in the control of the exposure of paper heritage collections to outdoor- and indoor-generated gaseous pollutants was demonstrated by determining acid vapors in museums. The method was validated with an external reference method; the paired test was applied, and p-values greater than 5% were obtained, indicating an excellent correlation and showing that the Color-NSPs reported are simple, fast, and an economical alternative to control and protect cultural heritage materials in indoor environments.Universidad de Granada/ CBU
