Since the fall of New Order Regime, Indonesia has begun a new era of democratization. One of the important issues is the reformulation of civi-military relation. The practice of militarization and militarism-which is strong enough in Indonesia is considered as a fundamental waylay for the development of civil society path to democratization. Political reform in Indonesia constitutes a strategic momentum for demiliterization movement, namely posing military professionally under the civil political control democratically

The Nurturing Food Sovereignty from the Peripheral Side: the Village Law and the Soul of Agriculture in Rural Development in Indonesia

After the enactment of the Village Law, the opportunity for the village as the spearhead of food sovereignty is widely open and the Village Law is considered a soul for village development. Village’s main activities are agriculture, including the management of natural resources with the composition of the area as a place for rural settlements, government services, social services, and economic activities. Most of the population works in the primary sector, which has various challenges to reducing or even eliminating dependence on the global food market. Rural development and the orientation of village agricultural soul so far seem to go hand in hand but tend to be particular. This study aimed to study the primary sector of agriculture and food needs as the main political discourse with the subject of the village. The study was prepared using a qualitative methodology with secondary data and policy analysis. The political economy framework is used to see how far the potential and challenges ahead are toward Indonesia's food sovereignty, amidst the onslaught of neo-liberalism in the global food system. The findings show that Village Law seeks to restore the village's dignity so that it becomes an empowered village faced with the unpreparedness of village capacity

Pioneering the Road to Prosperity for the Future Workforce: Building Social Development Fund (SDF) Roadmap in Indonesia

The paper discusses possible solutions through the Social Development Fund (SDF) scheme to reduce and prevent educated unemployment problems. This paper uses critical discourse involving literature studies such as books, journals, reports, and online media. The findings of the research show that (1) there still a lot of educated workforces unemployed. This happens because of the mismatch between the capabilities and the goals of the industry. Technological advances invented new jobs. Therefore, it requires someone to adapt quickly, let alone the fact that (2) cooperation between ministries and the private sectors is not quite optimal. Other factors are, (3) SDF practices implementation by other countries, (4) resource availability in Indonesia to implement SDF. From this study concluded that SDF is a realistic alternative offer to be implemented in Indonesia, as an ecosystem that is able to ensure that existing sectors work optimally to establish the common goal of reducing the possibility of educated unemployment

Negotiation and compromise in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic

    Get PDF
The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated technological transformation in education. Online learning has become a new culture in education that brings significant changes in the intersubjective relationship between educational actors, which was originally full of warmth but has now turned into formality due to distance meetings. This research aims to reveal the ways of relationship that occur between teachers and students and their consequences in online learning practices. The study used a phenomenological approach by collecting data through interviews with 11 teachers and 11 students and observing the online learning process conducted through various applications. The results of the study showed a weakening of the intersubjective relationship between teachers and students. Distance meetings have turned into mere formalities and emptiness. The closeness and warmth between teachers and students are diminishing and filled with emptiness. The interactions that exist are filled with deceit and fraud. In online learning, teachers and students negotiate and compromise on the learning to be conducted amidst all the limitations of distance learning. The consequence is widespread pragmatism towards technology, with students feeling lonely and isolated, and academic dishonesty increasing. In the end, there is a restriction of relationships and a tendency to prioritize mechanisms of silence as a compromise for the loss of true reality in the teacher-student relationship

Dynamic Voltage Restorer for Mitigation of Voltage Sags Due to 3 Phase Motor Starts Based on Artificial Neural Networks

    Get PDF
The Direct On-Line (DOL) process of starting a high-power 3-phase induction motor causes voltage sags in the distribution system that is connected to one point of common coupling (PCC). Voltage sag can cause damage and failure of sensitive loads. This article analyzes and proposes a simulation of voltage sag recovery using a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) based on an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). ANN is used as a detector and regulator of the voltage compensation value. In this study, a 3-phase induction motor will be connected to a sensitive load, and the DVR will be placed in series with a voltage source or PCC with a sensitive load. The simulation test system uses Simulink-Matlab R2016a with different configurations of induction motor parameters. Based on the simulation results show that the parameters of the 3-phase induction motor cause the depth and duration of the voltage sag. DVR with ANN control can detect and compensate for a voltage sag of 0.5 pu so that the voltage will be normal to 1 pu
