Background: Neonatal seizure is a rare neurologic condition. The current study aimed at determining the etiology of neonatal seizure. Methods: The current study evaluated the data of 100 neonates who were hospitalized at neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) during 2015-2017. A pediatric neurologist made the final diagnosis of seizure. Patients’ medical records were used to review neonatal seizure variables. SPSS (version 16) was used to perform the statistical analyses. Results: The current study enrolled 100 newborns (41% female) admitted to the NICU following the first episode of seizure and the body temperature of 36.8-39.2°C (mean: 37.2°C). Of 100 participants, 94 (94%) had acute symptomatic seizure and 6 (6%) were compatible with neonatal epilepsy syndrome criteria. According to the results, the commonest etiologies were the neonatal encephalopathy and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy constituting 82% of participants. Conclusion: The consequences of acute symptomatic seizures in neonates are determined mainly by the etiology of the seizures. Seizure burden and use of anti-seizure drugs may also have some impact, but this has yet to be fully defined

Background: The purpose of the current study is to estimate the incidence of epilepsy after neonatal seizure (NS) by reviewing of the latest studies on the relationship between NSs and epilepsy in newborns and also discuss risk factors may contribute to this relationship. Methods: A literature review was performed using the search terms “neonatal seizure AND epilepsy,” “newborns AND epilepsy,” “postneonatal epilepsy.” After exclusion of several studies, which did not meet inclusion criteria, the epilepsy incidence rate was measured by dividing the number of all cases of epilepsy who had a history of NS in selected studies considered with the number of all newborns enrolled to the studies minus the number of cases who lost the follow-ups.Results: By reviewing the literature, 13 studies were found, which completely meet the inclusion criteria and published between 2009 and 2019, of which three were population-based while the remaining studies performed hospital-based. Overall, the population evaluated in these series has been estimated to be 2438 newborns of which 454 died, and 300 missed the follow-ups. The incidence rate for afterward epilepsy in all 1684 subjects with NS was 20%, literally 343 of the NS subjects. Conclusion: The presented review enrolled the most recent studies encompassing enough and extended the time as well as adequate sample size. Epilepsy is considered a common outcome of NS, particularly in those with other neurodevelopmental comorbidities, even if there were always several limits associated with various study designs and condition

open access articleDeveloping and accepting industry 4.0 influences the industry structure and customer willingness. To a successful transition to industry 4.0, implementation strategies should be selected with a systematic and comprehensive view to responding to the changes flexibly. This research aims to identify and prioritise the strategies for implementing industry 4.0. For this purpose, at first, evaluation attributes of strategies and also strategies to put industry 4.0 in practice are recognised. Then, the attributes are weighted to the experts’ opinion by using the Best Worst Method (BWM). Subsequently, the strategies for implementing industry 4.0 in Fara-Sanat Company, as a case study, have been ranked based on the Interval Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy (IVIF) of the TODIM method. The results indicated that the attributes of ‘Technology’, ‘Quality’, and ‘Operation’ have respectively the highest importance. Furthermore, the strategies for “new business models development’, ‘Improving information systems’ and ‘Human resource management’ received a higher rank. Eventually, some research and executive recommendations are provided. Having strategies for implementing industry 4.0 is a very important solution. Accordingly, multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods are a useful tool for adopting and selecting appropriate strategies. In this research, a novel and hybrid combination of BWM-TODIM is presented under IVIF information

Background: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is one of the major infectious agents, which has important role in the public health challenges, which have affected the world's economic and social situation recent decades. During the last decades, millions of people died due to HIV infection worldwide. However, data remain limited on the causes of death among HIV-infected in Iranian population. The aim of the present study was to assess the cause specific death among HIV positive inpatient persons in Iran.Materials and Methods: This surveillance was conducted on inpatient HIV positive admissions at Masih Daneshvari Hospital, Tehran, Iran during October 2016 and April 2017.All patient’s data were collected via abstraction form, which were ascertained, from medical records and from written logbooks that were kept by the nursing staff on the ward. The data of each admission was recorded from the medical reports at the time of admission and upon discharge. All laboratory data were collected and recorded separately. Results: Fifty persons were diagnosed as HIV-infected patients, of which 58% of them were classified as AIDS patients. Our findings indicated that the cause of hospitalization were pulmonary 54%, neurological 20%, gastrointestinal 16%, and dermal 10% complications. Overall, 21 patients (42%) were diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis, of which one patient died from tuberculosis complications. Four patients died during the study period. Conclusion: In conclusion, early treatment and/or early use of ART can be improved outcomes. Therefore, early HIV testing and early ART use play important role in mortality reduction among eligible persons

During the past two decades, e-commerce has revolutionized many industries by providing easy access infrastructures for interested users who wish to place their orders via internet facilities. Insurance industry is one of the most important financial industries in the world. E-commerce has been attracting many in insurance industry and insurance industry has utilized e-commerce because of its own significance in economic growth and health of society. However, enhancing e-commerce into insurance firms may face serious barriers and it is important to detect and setup appropriate actions to remove them. In this paper, we present a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) technique based on DEMATEL with an adaptation of fuzzy logic to find important factors influencing implementation of e-commerce into insurance industry. The proposed study of this paper designs a questionnaire and distributes it among five important insurance experts. Findings indicate that “behavioral-cultural barriers” influence on structural and field barriers. “Problems resulted from obeying government complicated rules” in the group of structural barriers, “low capacity of accepting e-insurance” in field barriers group and “lack of sufficient support of insurance chief managers from e-insurance and relative tendency of insurance staffs to make the insurance affairs electronic” in behavioral-cultural barriers group have the most influence on other factors of group

P53 Protein Expression in Dental Follicle, Dentigerous Cyst, Odontogenic Keratocyst, and Inflammatory Subtypes of Cysts: An Immunohistochemical Study

    Get PDF
Objectives: An odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) is a developmental odontogenic cyst with aggressive clinical behavior. This cyst shows a different growth mechanism from the more common dentigerous cyst and now has been renamed as a keratocystic odontogenic tumor (KCOT). Inflammation can assist tumor growth via different mechanisms including dysregulation of the p53 gene. This study aims to assess and compare the expression of tumor suppressor gene p53 in inflamed and non-inflamed types of OKC and dentigerous cyst. Methods: Immunohistochemical expression of p53 was assessed in 14 cases of dental follicle, 34 cases of OKC (including 18 inflamed OKCs), and 31 cases of dentigerous cyst (including 16 inflamed cysts). Results: The mean percentage of p53 positive cells was 0.7% in dental follicles, 5.4% in non-inflamed OKCs, 17.3% in inflamed OKCs, 1.2% in non-inflamed dentigerous cysts, and 2.2% in inflamed dentigerous cysts. The differences between the groups were statistically significant (p < 0.050) except for the difference between inflamed and non-inflamed dentigerous cysts, and between dental follicle and non-inflamed dentigerous cyst. Conclusions: The difference in p53 expression in OKC and dentigerous cyst can explain their different growth mechanism and clinical behavior. Inflammation is responsible for the change in behavior of neoplastic epithelium of OKC via p53 overexpression

Abstract Recurring problem in criminal law is the breadth of coverage to be given the felony murder rule. At common law a death occurring in the course of a felony was chargeable to the felon as murder. Constricted variations of that rule have now been adopted by statute or through judicial construction in most jurisdictions. Enmund v. Florida (1982) and Tison v. Arizona (1987

Reliable propagation of Persian walnut varieties using SSR marker-based true-to-type validation

    Get PDF
Simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers were used to authenticate ramets of 11 Persian walnut (Juglans regia L.) varieties. All varieties and 28 of their ramets (n = 39) were genotyped with 17 SSR markers. The genetic profiles revealed two off-types: the ramets Serr 4 (S4) and Vina 1 (V1). SSR fingerprints individuating 11 walnut varieties were possible using 13 polymorphic SSRs that could be used in the future to identify clones of these varieties. Except for ‘Chandler’, each cultivar could be distinguished using a combination of two SSR loci. This result emphasizes the efficacy of the SSR markers in true-to-type validation of walnut orchards
