Large-Scale Portuguese Language Evaluations: A Research on the Complexity of Texts that Support Items that Assess Reading
This article discusses the theme of the complexity of texts that support large-scale assessment items in Portuguese language based on the results of a survey in which 763 texts used in large-scale assessment items in Portuguese were analyzed The research methodology consisted of item analysis supported by the theories of cognition textual linguistics and statistical parameters of the items based on the Item Response Theory a three-parameter model Based on the research carried out four levels of complexity of the texts were defined The results point to the relevance of clear criteria to define the complexity of texts in the development of new items and to a more precise description of performance standards based on the reading proficiency presented by the evaluated student
Letramento, linguagem e escola
We propose a debate on the contributions of the Bakhtin Circle’s philosophy of language in order to approach the concept of literacies at basic education schools. The Circle’s theoretical project (which seeks to overcome the dualism between life and theory by understanding experiences as events) allows us to assume the spheres of human life as instantiations in which utterances – in which subjects assume a position, a responsible attitude towards life – are produced. The phenomenon of literacy must be understood as the assumption of an attitude before the world, going beyond new writing and reading technologies. This perspective carries implications in regards to the literacies approach. So, it is important to consider alterity relationships established between students and teachers in the pedagogical practices and how the subjects and their perspectives about what reading and writing contemporarily represent are altered.
[pt] PROFESSORES DA PRÉ-ESCOLA: TRABALHO, SABERES E PROCESSOS DE CONSTRUÇÃO DE IDENTIDADE
articulados a aspectos históricos e institucionais,
As análises desenvolvidas neste estudo
saber narrar e saber acolher.
profissionais. The object of this thesis is the teaching skills and
knowledge that pre-school teachers have. Its purpose is to
understand how the process of construction and circulation
of this knowledge, linked to historic and institutional
aspects, reveals the construction of the Child Education
teacher´s identity. Assuming that the teaching knowledge
is always a knowledge towards the other, made explicit in
the interpersonal relationships and mediated by language,
this thesis seeks to find, under the voice of pre-school
teachers, the meaning of this profession which has been
and still is built on the paradox of affirmation and
denial and on the tension between the discourses which
have historically built an identity for the Child
Education teacher and the perception of these
professionals about their teaching skills. The analyses
developed in this study are based on empirical material
produced along with field research, in three municipal
schools for Child Education, all of them part of the
Public School System of Juiz de Fora, and on Mikhail
Bakhtin s language theory. From these analyses, it was
possible to understand the teaching skills that Child
Education teachers have gathered from three reference
knowledge facts: knowing how to play, knowing how to share
experiences and knowing how to welcome others. These do
not find room for affirmation and circulation in
institutional contexts, marred by time fragmentation and
interpersonal relationships, where teachers act and which
are reflected on the way these characters build their
professional identity

They are addressed also some progress and limits of this second version of the document and pointed out the threats to the democratic process of their development in the context of the current political crisis in which the democratic rule of law is at risk. The approach of Richard Bowe and Stephen Ball policy cycle is the main conceptual tool used in the current analysis

ABSTRACT The following paper debates projects of reader formation developed by the intellectuals Gabriela Mistral and Cecília Meireles during the educational reforms in México and Brazil, respectively.
