    Effects of Food Pollution on Human Health and Its management through Panchakarma

    Air, water and food are the basic necessities of life. If one pillar is disturbed then we can’t expect the other two works positively for our health. In Ayurveda there is description of Triya Upstambh where food (aahar) placed in first place, which shows the importance of food.  We can define food pollution as, the presence of toxic chemical and biological contaminants which are not naturally part of our food. Examples are preservatives, taste enhancer, coloring agents. In present time our food is also contaminated by fertilizers, pesticides and heavy metals. This put very deleterious effect upon our body.  It is a silent killer, because these harmful effects come after a long time of consuming this polluted food. Adulteration in edible products is also a common cause of food pollution. Food pollution is causing so many diseases related to different system of our body, like digestive system related, nervous system related etc. some serious health problems are developing day by day such as hormonal problems and various types of cancer. Water pollution and soil pollution are trigger factor or we could say enhancer for food pollution. Growing crops in polluted soil with polluted water is also responsible for polluting the food. Not only polluted soil or water, there are so many sources of food pollution.  Panchakarma is the ayurvedic approach to get rid of these toxins and restores good health through detoxification of the human body.     Functional Importance of Endophytic Microorganisms in Plant Growth Promotion Bioactive Compound Production for Sustainable Agriculture

    Endophytes constitute living microorganisms inhabiting inside tissues of plants. Endophytes perform criticalfunctions in upgrading the growth of plants and their defense to fight stress by a variety of phytohormones, biologically active compounds, volatile organic compounds, and biotechnologically valuable enzymes. How biological nitrogen fixation, nutrient uptake, and disease suppression occurs by endophytes, have been discussed in detail in the review. The mutual symbiotic relationship enhances plant growth, fitness, physiology, and metabolite production ability. Endophytes inhibit the invasion of pathogenic microorganisms and protect crops against diseases. Endophytes are also involved in strategies for environmental clean-up such as biodegradation, bioremediation, and phytoremediation. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze and study the mechanisms of interactions, colonisation, diversity, and functionalities for successful implications in agriculture. Thus, the endophytic relationship opens possibilities for medicine, agriculture, and biotechnology. The present review emphasizes the importance of endophytes in sustainable agriculture under several adverse environmental impacts through a better understanding of their functioning inside the plant

    An illustration of delays in Mucormycosis: A case Study

    Background: Mucormycosis is an opportunistic fungal infection with a high fatality rate and is the third most common fungal infection that is invasive in nature, next to candidiasis and aspergillosis. It is attributed to the poor socio-economic status and triggered by the local trauma due to unhygienic setup or poor health care. The pathway of pathogenesis is not clearly understood in immunocompetent patients and therefore becomes a matter of great concern.Aim& Objective: To explore the pathway of  mucormycosis in a case of post SARS-CoV-2 infection Settings and Design: Tertiary Care hospital of Jabalpur DistrictMethods and Material: Interview with the case and care taker and case file review.Results: We could conclude this as a case of rhino- orbital mucormycosis attributed to uncontrolled blood sugar during treatment of SARS-CoV-2 infection,  three delays that have occurred during the disease progression like ignorance from health service provider, late diagnosis, non compliance to the advice given by health facility,  poor oral and nasal hygiene and no use of distilled water in humidifier. Conclusions: The early diagnosis, prompt Treatment , surgical intervention , proper blood sugar monitoring and rational use of steroids are important steps of successful outcome of the disease

    Viscometric and Rheological Behaviour of Chitosan-Hydrophilic Polymer Blends

    Blends of chitosan with hydrophilic polymers were investigated for miscibility. Chitosan/poly (vinyl alcohol) (CS/PVA), chitosan/poly vinylpyrollidone (CS/PVP) and chitosan/poly (ethylene oxide) (CS/PEO) blends were prepared in dilute aqueous acetic acid ( = 1 %) and found to be miscible over the entire composition range by dilute solution viscosity and rheological measurements. The miscibility of blends by viscosity measurements at 25 ± 0.1 C was estimated on the basis of experimental and ideal values of miscibility parameters bm, and μ. The rheological studies were performed on blends of mass fraction w = 2 % in dilute aqueous acetic acid ( = 1 %) at 25 ±0.1 C in controlled rate mode. The flow curves of blends and viscosities were found to lie between those of principal components of the blend over the entire compositional range. The flow behaviour index of blends was determined by the Power law model, indicating pseudoplastic behaviour with pseudoplasticity increasing with CS mass concentration. The rheological data of blends was best described by the Cross model. Results from Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy also indicate the blends to be miscible

    Profiling of Plant Derived Natural Constituents by Using Magnetic Resonance Techniques

    Plants are reservoirs of naturally occurring chemical constituents with a wide range of structural diversity. These biological compounds can be derived from different parts of plants such as leaves, barks, seeds, seed coats, flowers, and roots. A broad array of secondary metabolic compounds is present in the plants such as antibiotics, alkaloids, antimicrobials, food-grade pigments, and phenolics which have been reported to possess numerous health-related benefits, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and antiobesity activities. Therefore, the identification and detection of these compounds are of utmost importance in order to utilise their benefits into various fields. Wherein, magnetic resonance techniques, such as NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance), MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), and EPR (electron paramagnetic resonance), being far more reproducible, nondestructive, than other analytical techniques such as liquid chromatography, mass spectroscopy, and high-performance liquid chromatography cover a much wider dynamic range of metabolites with easy sample preparation techniques with high speed and fidelity. Hence, these magnetic resonance techniques have been proven to be extremely useful in plant metabolite profiling and disease metabolomics, along with structural elucidation of bioactive compounds from plant sources. Therefore, the present review focuses on the effectiveness of magnetic resonance for the detection of plant-derived metabolites that may lead to new areas of research in various fields such as drug discovery and development, metabolomics, combinatorial chemistry, and assessing overall food safety and quality

    Ayurveda classic has mentioned various diseases. Mukhdushika is explained by Acharaya Shushrut in Nidansthan. It can be correlated with Acne vulgaris. Acne vulgaris is the most common skin disease of the youth especially in the puberty age. One of the most common complication of acne is scarring. It has been found to have a significant impact on their psychological well-being and has been associated with depression and suicidal ideation. Acne causes emotional upset and impact to the patient by disfiguring face and scarring skin. Gharshan karma with Samudraphen has been described in Astang Hridya. In the modern medical science this technique closely resembles microdermabration (MDA), which is a resurfacing technique. Aim: To study the efficacy and safety of microdermabration (MDA) in managing acne vulgaris at Skin Care Unit, R.G.G.P.G. Ayurvedic College, Paprola, Kangra (H.P.). Materials and Methods: Based on inclusion and exclusion criteria 30 patients with acne scars, who visited the hospital outdoor patient department were included in the study. All patients were treated with MDA for 12 sittings, 2 weeks apart. Results: Out of 30 patients, 1 (3%) patient got excellent improvement, 18 (60%) patient got good improvement, 10 (33.3%) patient got fair improvement and 1 (3%) patient got poor improvement
