Dans ma contribution, je me propose d’étudier la question de l’adoption de nouvelles formes médiales chez Laferrière qui l’amène à recourir au genre hybride du roman graphique, situé à mi-chemin entre littérature et art visuel. Partant de l’exemple de Vers d’autres rives (2019), mon analyse portera sur la fonction de ce revirement pour le projet laferrien et sur les déplacements qui en résultent pour la relation entre la production autofictionnelle et son positionnement par rapport à différents espaces et différentes villes. Comment le discours des romans graphiques évolue-t-il en ce qui concerne l’espace et l’appartenance culturelle de l’artiste ? Pour répondre à de telles questions, je présenterai premièrement l’œuvre autofictionnelle de Laferrière pour ensuite situer ses « romans dessinés » dans le contexte québécois et haïtien, et partagerai enfin quelques réflexions concernant le récit « autographique » (Whitlock 2006) ainsi que la façon dont il construit, par le biais de l’écriture et des images, l’espace social et médial du récit. La dernière partie sera consacrée à l’analyse de Vers d’autres rives sous l’angle de l’autoreprésentation, des espaces socioculturels et de l’apport de l’intermédial aux réflexions autofictionnelles, spatiales et poétologiques de Laferrière.  

Materialities and Mobilities: A Note on the Political Geography of Contemporary Caribbean Art

Caribbean art offers a useful vantage point onto current controversies about the materiality of culture and the geography of movement. Where the rhetoric of globalisation has taken hold in the public funding, exhibiting, and scholarly conceptualising of contemporary art, artists have come to experience a mixed picture of the opportunities that are posed by global flows of money, artworks, and the ideas about them. This is the view taken from a round up of fieldwork conducted since 2010 at multiple sites: Suriname, Barbados, Trinidad, Jamaica, Cuba, and Guyana, and their connections to the wider Atlantic. I suggest that the ground-level perspectives of artists – formed from their efforts to make art, to make a living, and to create community – offer a political and geographical field. This article sketches out how the current demands being placed on Caribbean artists and their art to participate in movement presents various choices for the study of materiality and mobility, and with the potential to consolidate a sense of Caribbean community through the arts

Espacio, poetología y corporalidad en Borderlands/La Frontera de Gloria Anzaldúa. Dinámicas fronterizas entre modos de expresión genéricos y modos perceptivos

En este artículo, se propone una relectura de la obra canónica Borderlands/La Frontera de la pensadora chicana Gloria Anzaldúa, desde la perspectiva de su poetología y de los espacios que el texto produce a través de su hibridez genérica y de la relevancia de la corporalidad del sujeto. Asimismo, en el texto se crea no solo una experiencia multidimensional sino más bien un espacio de comunicación entre el texto y sus audiencias, y un diálogo intersubjetivo entre 'las nuevas Mestizas' y lectores y lectoras que no participen en esta experiencia. Para sostener esta línea de argumentos recurrimos a un close reading del texto como obra de arte combinado con una versión descolonizada del modelo fenomenológico del espacio desarrollado por Henri Lefebvre en La production de l'espace (1974).En aquest article, es proposa una relectura de l'obra canònica Borderlands/La Frontera de la pensadora xicana Gloria Anzaldúa, des de la perspectiva de la seva poetologia i dels espais que el text produeix a través del seu hibridisme genèric i de la rellevància de la corporalitat del subjecte. Així mateix, en el text es crea no només una experiència multidimensional sinó més aviat un espai de comunicació entre el text i les seves audiències, i un diàleg intersubjectiu entre "les noves Mestizas" i lectors i lectores que no participen en aquesta experiència. Per tal de sostenir aquesta línia d'arguments es recorre a un close reading del text com a obra d'art combinat amb una versió descolonitzada del model fenomenològic de l'espai desenvolupat per Henri Lefebvre a La production de l'espace (1974).This article proposes a new reading of the canonical work Borderlands/La Frontera (1987) by Chicana thinker Gloria Anzaldúa in terms of its poetics and the spaces the text produces through its generic hybridity and its accentuation of subjective corporeality. We argue that the text creates not only a multidimensional experience but rather a space of communication between the text and its audiences as well as an intersubjective dialogue between 'the new Mestizas' and readers who do not share this experience. Our analysis draws on a close reading of the text as a piece of art along with a decolonized version of the phenomenological model of space developed by Henri Lefebvre in La production de l'espace (1974)

Reshaping Glocal Dynamics of the Caribbean: Relaciones y Desconexiones - Relations et Déconnexions - Relations and Disconnections

Die Zirkumkaribik und ihre Diaspora ist eine Region der Beziehungen und Brüche, die historisch als Sprungbrett der europäischen Eroberung Amerikas und Umschlagplatz von Menschen, Ideen und Waren sowie als Experimentierfeld moderner sozialer, politischer und ökonomischer Produktionsformen diente. Heute stellt sich die Region als gemeinsamer kultureller, multilingualer Raum des Zusammenlebens dar, der aber auch durch unterschiedliche Kolonial- und Widerstandsgeschichten von Dissonanzen, Brüchen und Insularitäten geprägt ist. Dieser interdisziplinäre, dreisprachige Band untersucht die Zirkulation von Wissensbeständen und Archiven in der glokalen Wissensproduktion in und über die Karibik und zielt auf eine klarere Vorstellung darüber, wer wie bzw. womit welche Karibik entwirft. Die 33 Beiträge beschäftigen sich mit fünf transversalen Themen: (1) Akademische und künstlerische Annäherungen (2) Kunst und Visuelle Studien, (3) Umwelt und Nachhaltigkeit, (4) Migration und Wissenszirkulation, (5) Verschränkte Geschichte(n) und Erinnerungen
