ABSTRAKPT.
Aplikasi Teknologi Budidaya Kelengkeng Super Sleman Di Padukuhan Gejayan
Longan (Dimocarpus longan L.) is not an indigenous fruit from Indonesia. Thus, the demands for this fruit were supplied by importing them from nearby countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and China. Longan has been cultivated and developed in Indonesia in order to supply the local needs and to reduce the rapid flows of importing Longan. Recently, a brand new breed of local Longan has been engineered from Sleman District of D.I.Yogyakarta Province, known as Kelengkeng Super Sleman (KSS). The KSS well adapted to medium-high above sea level- terrain, the most typical terrain in Sleman. Some prosperous features of this Longan cultivar were had a short harvesting time (2 years), thicky flesh, low water content, and able to be induced twice per year for flowering (to produce fruits). All of this goodness thus been introduced to rural communities of Padukuhan Gejayan, Desa Condongcatur, Depok, Sleman, D.I.Yogyakarta by a well designed community service programme. The kind of activites that was going on in this programme were workshop, training, and assistance. Workshop was emphasized on the prospectous consequences of planting Longan trees (KSS) for a long term until could be developed into local industrial product (One Village One Product/OVOP concept), basic knowledge on Longan diversity, KSS cultivation technology, basic knowledge on plant physiology, environmental development based on Education for Sustainable Development (EfSD), and potential local market for KSS. Training was mainly focused on KSS seedling production by both apical stem grafting method and medium preparation method, KSS plantation in some villager houses for a pilot project on how to maintain KSS such as health evaluation, health recovery for infested or unhealthy plant, method on lateral branching development, method on hormone-induced flowering, and application of resting period for after-harvesting plant. Assistance has been actively conducted during training to motivates villager to be get involved. Some positive indicators for implementation of this programme are both the great enthusiasm on KSS Longan plantation in communities and âthe shifting paradigmâ on KSS Longan maintenance for which has been long considered to be both impractical and arduous
Performance on a pattern separation task by Alzheimer's patients shows possible links between disrupted dentate gyrus activity and apolipoprotein E â4 status and cerebrospinal fluid amyloid-β42 levels
This is the final version of the article. Available from the publisher via the DOI in this record.INTRODUCTION: Emerging evidence suggests that decreased adult hippocampal neurogenesis represents an early critical event in the course of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In mice, adult neurogenesis is reduced by knock-in alleles for human apolipoprotein E (ApoE) â4. Decreased dentate gyrus (DG) neural progenitor cells proliferation has been observed in the triple-transgenic mouse model of AD (3xTg-AD); this reduction being directly associated with the presence of amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques and an increase in the number of Aβ-containing neurons in the hippocampus. Cognitive tasks involving difficult pattern separations have been shown to reflect DG activity and thus potentially neurogenesis in both animals and man. This study involved the administration of a pattern separation paradigm to Alzheimer's patients to investigate relationships between task performance and both ApoE status and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) Aβ42 levels. METHODS: The CDR System pattern separation task involves the presentation of pictures that must later be discriminated from closely similar pictures. This paper presents pattern separation data from 66 mild to moderate AD patients, of which 50 were genotyped and 65 in whom CSF Aβ42 was measured. RESULTS: ApoE â4 homozygotes were not compromised on the easy pattern separations compared with the other patients, but they were statistically significantly poorer at the difficult separations. In all patients CSF Aβ42 correlated significantly with the ability to make the difficult discriminations, but not easier discriminations. Pattern separation speed correlated negatively with CSF Aβ42, and thus the association was not due to increased impulsivity. CONCLUSIONS: These are, to our knowledge, the first human pattern separation data to suggest a possible genetic link to poor hippocampal neurogenesis in AD, as well as a relationship to Aβ42. Therapies which target neurogenesis may thus be useful in preventing the early stages of AD, notably in ApoE â4 homocygotes. This study was financially supported by AstraZeneca, Sweden

Does virtue ethics allow us to make better judgments of the actions of others?
Virtue ethics encourages us to judge the actions of others, not merely as right or wrong, but as virtuous (kind, courageous, just, compassionate, etc.) or vicious (cruel, cowardly, unjust, selfish, etc.). In doing so, however, we risk acting viciously ourselves. That is, our judgments of others can be unfair, unkind, insensitive, uncharitable, or hypocritical, even while being accurate. I argue that in order to make good judgments of the actions of others we should turn to virtue ethics for action guidance. That is, our primary aim should not be to make accurate judgments but to act virtuously when judging others
30GT Fishing Vessel Electrical System Design
The ship electrification process is the process of installing or providing electric power to supply all the electrical power needs for ships. In general, main electricity supply will be provided, and emergency supplies in the form of batteries or emergency generators that are able to survive supplying emergency loads such as navigation equipment, navigation lights, and emergency lighting for about 3 hours. Another consideration in the electrification process on fishing vessels is also aimed at reducing dependence or even replacing conventional fuel. Of course, not all machines or equipment that are usually operated with conventional fuel can be directly replaced with electrical energy. The implementation of electrification on fishing boats takes into account the technological and cultural aspects of fishermen so that not all of them will be directly replaced by electrical energy
National Survey of Patientsâ Bill of Rights Statutes
BACKGROUND
Despite vigorous national debate between 1999â2001 the federal patients' bill of rights (PBOR) was not enacted. However, states have enacted legislation and the Joint Commission defined an accreditation standard to present patients with their rights. Because such initiatives can be undermined by overly complex language, we surveyed the readability of hospital PBOR documents as well as texts mandated by state law.
METHODS
State Web sites and codes were searched to identify PBOR statutes for general patient populations. The rights addressed were compared with the 12 themes presented in the American Hospital Association's (AHA) PBOR text of 2002. In addition, we obtained PBOR texts from a sample of hospitals in each state. Readability was evaluated using Prose, a software program which reports an average of eight readability formulas
RESULTS
Of 23 states with a PBOR statute for the general public, all establish a grievance policy, four protect a private right of action, and one stipulates fines for violations. These laws address an average of 7.4 of the 12 AHA themes. Nine states' statutes specify PBOR text for distribution to patients. These documents have an average readability of 15th grade (range, 11.6, New York, to 17.0, Minnesota). PBOR documents from 240 US hospitals have an average readability of 14th grade (range, 8.2 to 17.0)
CONCLUSIONS
While the average U.S. adult reads at an 8th grade reading level, an advanced college reading level is routinely required to read PBOR documents. Patients are not likely to learn about their rights from documents they cannot read.Pfizer Clear Health Communication Initiativ

The Genetic Privacy Act and commentary
The Genetic Privacy Act is a proposal for federal legislation. The Act is based on the premise that genetic information is different from other types of personal information in ways that require special protection. Therefore, to effectively protect genetic privacy unauthorized collection and analysis of individually identifiable DNA must be prohibited. As a result, the premise of the Act is that no stranger should have or control identifiable DNA samples or genetic information about an individual unless that individual specifically authorizes the collection of DNA samples for the purpose of genetic analysis, authorized the creation of that private information, and has access to and control over the dissemination of that information
Educating through Exemplars: Alternative Paths to Virtue
This paper confronts Zagzebskiâs exemplarism with the intertwined debates over the conditions of exemplarity and the unity-disunity of the virtues, to show the advantages of a pluralistic exemplar-based approach to moral education (PEBAME). PEBAME is based on a prima facie disunitarist perspective in moral theory, which amounts to admitting both exemplarity in all respects and single-virtue exemplarity. First, we account for the advantages of PEBAME, and we show how two figures in
recent Italian history (Giorgio Perlasca and Gino Bartali) satisfy Blumâs definitions of âmoral heroâ and âmoral saintâ (1988). Then, we offer a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of heroes and saints with respect to character education, according to four criteria derived from PEBAME: admirability, virtuousness, transparency, and imitability. Finally, we conclude that both unitarist and disunitarist exemplars are fundamental to character education; this is because of the hero's superiority to the saint with respect to imitability, a fundamental feature of the exemplar for character

Cox Proportional Hazard Regression Analysis of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever
Survival analysis is a statistical procedure used to analyze data in the form of time of the incident until an event occurs. The purpose of the survival analysis is to estimate the probability of survival, recurrence, death or other events until a certain period of time. .In this case, one of the regression method that can be used Cox Proportional Hazard (Cox PH) regression. Data used in this research is data of 70 patients Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Makassar City Hospital. The results of analysis indicated that the factor that most affect the rate of healing DHF patients is platelet factor. The rate of recovery of patients with DHF with platelet counts below normal is 2,625 times the normal platelet count. Therefore, patients with dengue disease who have lower platelet counts tend to have a longer recovery rate than patients who have normal platelet counts
