Det gøres ved at se på den side af biblioteksvæsenets udvikling, vi betegner som folkebibliotekets kulturelle rolle i det danske samfund under besættelsen 1940-1945. Climate change and new life conditions imply transformation of our cultural orders - A Dialectical Eco-linguistic contribution to an eco-civilized development

Como a eco-linguística pode contribuir para a elaboração e realização dos objetivos globais da ONU para o desenvolvimento sustentável? O artigo descreve alguns princípios para a comunicação dentro e entre as comunidades e ecozonas, levando em conta a interdependência dos três parâmetros das condições biológicas, sociais e ideológicas. A mudança climática é hoje um exemplo óbvio de mudança dramática das condições de vida humana. Ela impõe a necessidade de compartilhar territórios e bens de maneira mais solidária. A situação exige novas formas de comunicação transcultural e formas de vida com profundo respeito pela ecologia selvagem e civilizada, de todas as espécies. O artigo se refere teoricamente à tradição ecolinguística de 1987 até hoje, especialmente a Teoria Dialética Dinamarquesa de Linguagem e Ecolinguística (Bang; Døør; Nash; Steffensen, 2007) focalizando nas investigações e análises de todos os tipos de linguagem e linguagear (comunicação, interatividade, discursos, diálogos e textos) no contexto da reorganização das formas de vida humana locais e globais em eco-civilizações mais socialmente iguais e sustentáveis

The Patent Ductus Arteriosus in Extremely Preterm Neonates Is More than a Hemodynamic Challenge:New Molecular Insights

Complications to preterm birth are numerous, including the presence of a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). The biological understanding of the PDA is sparse and treatment remains controversial. Herein, we speculate whether the PDA is more than a cardiovascular imbalance, and may be a marker in response to immature core molecular and physiological processes driven by biological systems, such as inflammation. To achieve a new biological understanding of the PDA, we performed echocardiography and collected plasma samples on day 3 of life in 53 consecutively born neonates with a gestational age at birth below 28 completed weeks. The proteome of these samples was analyzed by mass spectrometry (nanoLC-MS/MS) and immunoassay of 17 cytokines and chemokines. We found differences in 21 proteins and 8 cytokines between neonates with a large PDA (>1.5 mm) compared to neonates without a PDA. Amongst others, we found increased levels of angiotensinogen, periostin, pro-inflammatory associations, including interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-8, and anti-inflammatory associations, including IL-1RA and IL-10. Levels of complement factors C8 and carboxypeptidases were decreased. Our findings associate the PDA with the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and immune- and complement systems, indicating that PDA goes beyond the persistence of a fetal circulatory connection of the great vessels

Discovery and characterisation of dietary patterns in two Nordic countries. Using non-supervised and supervised multivariate statistical techniques to analyse dietary survey data

This Nordic study encompasses multivariate data analysis (MDA) of preschool Danish as well as pre- and elementary school Swedish consumers. Contrary to other counterparts the study incorporates two separate MDA varieties - Pattern discovery (PD) and predictive modelling (PM). PD, i.e. hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) and factor analysis (using PCA), helped identifying distinct consumer aggregations and relationships across food groups, respectively, whereas PM enabled the disclosure of deeply entrenched associations. 17 clusters - here defined as dietary prototypes - were identified by means of HCA in the entire bi-national data set. These prototypes underwent further processing, which disclosed several intriguing consumption data relationships: Striking disparity between consumption patterns of Danish and Swedish preschool children was unveiled and further dissected by PM. Two prudent and mutually similar dietary prototypes appeared among each of two Swedish elementary school children data subsets. Dietary prototypes rich in sweetened soft beverages appeared among Danish and Swedish children alike. The results suggest prototype-specific risk assessment and study design

Usynlige konventioner: Objektsproglige størrelser i studentertekster som eksempel på hidden literacy

Formålet med nærværende artikel er at undersøge, hvordan nyindskrevne dansk- og journalistikstuderende håndterer et centralt aspekt af akademisk skrivning, nemlig inddragelse af sproglige størrelser fra en empiritekst. Gennem et kvantitativt studie af 100 kortere studentertekster kortlægger vi, i hvilket omfang de studerende markerer sådanne størrelser, og hvordan de gør det. Den fagtradition, vi undersøger, sprogvidenskaben, har en klar konvention for, hvordan sådanne størrelser skal håndteres, men denne konvention er næppe kendt af dem, der ikke er en del af det faglige fællesskab. Fremgangsmåden for dette forklares sjældent eksplicit i gængs håndbogslitteratur, men manifesterer sig i stedet som tavs viden og kan dermed ses som et eksempel på hidden literacy. Vi argumenterer i artiklen for, at et skrivepædagogisk fokus på sådanne tekstlige formalia, der ikke umiddelbart synes at tjene et indholdsmæssigt formål, kan bidrage til at øge indsigten i den videnskabelige genres konstituerende elementer
