    Microstructural and mechanical properties of welded Ti-15-3 beta titanium alloy using gtaw with boron-modified fillers / Ahmad Lutfi Anis

    Mechanical properties of titanium alloys are dictated by their microstructure, particularly the size, shape and distribution of hexagonally close-packed (hcp) α and body-centred cubic (bcc) β phases. For metastable β titanium alloys the morphology and distribution of α precipitates have largely contributed to its mechanical properties. Welded zones in gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) of metastable β titanium alloys exhibit retained β structure with inferior mechanical properties due to coarse columnar prior β grains and lack of α precipitates in the matrix in as-welded condition. In this work refinement of prior β grains and α was achieved in GTAW welds of metastable β titanium alloy, Ti-15V-3Cr-3Al-3Sn (Ti-15-3) by current pulsing and modification of welding fillers. Autogenous pulsed current GTAW were performed at 0, 2, 4 and 6 Hz pulsing frequencies to determine optimum frequency for pulsed current welding of thin plates Ti-15-3 alloy. Welding of Ti-15-3 alloy using commercially pure α titanium (CP-Ti) alloy filler resulted in the precipitation of α phase from β phase during cooling to ambient temperature due to dilution of melted base metal with the filler metal. The GTAW welds with CP-Ti filler exhibit high hardness, higher tensile strength but lower % strain as compared to the autogenous weld owing to precipitation of α phase precipitation at β grain boundaries. Addition of 0.5 wt.% and 1.0 wt.% boron to CP-Ti fillers resulted in significantly refined fusion zone β grains in welds with CP-Ti-0.5B and CP-Ti-1.0B fillers due to growth restriction mechanism associated with partitioning of boron during solidification. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis of autogenous welds showed only bcc β-Ti phase while indexed peaks for the weld samples with CP-Ti filler showed the presence of very small hcp α-Ti phase along with bcc β-Ti phase. Welds with CP-Ti- 0.5B and CP-Ti-1.0B fillers showed additional orthorhombic TiB peaks. Mechanical tests show that hardness of the fusion zone and tensile strength in welds with boron-added CP-Ti fillers are higher than that in autogenous welds and welds with CP-Ti filler. Post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) of the welded samples increased α precipitation in all samples while FESEM and TEM analysis of the fusion zones showed α with higher aspect ratios in aged welds with boron-added CP-Ti fillers than autogenous weld and weld with CP-Ti filler, attributed to the additional nucleation sites provided by increase in boundary area of refined prior β grains with the addition of boron. PWHT weldments displayed higher hardness values, compared to similar regions in as-welded samples, and higher tensile strength after aging

    Production of Ethanol Bio-Fuel from Cassava

    The objectives of this experiment are to know the effect of starch and enzymes concentration towards the glucose production, to observe the texture ofstarch during the gelatinization process; to study fermentation process of ethanol from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and to study the rate of ethanol production, by obtaining amount of glucose produced per 1 kg of cassava starch. This study is conducted since there are critical issues of (1) petroleum sustainability, (2) volatility of world's crude oil price; rising significantly that effect all the living costs and (3) the urgent need of alternative, renewable, economic and environmental-friendly fuel. A renewable source, bio ethanol derived from cassava starch is studied as an alternative to petroleum fuel for transportation. The author has studied on starch characterization during gelatinization, and manipulated the concentration of enzymes during hydrolysis. It is found that during the continuous heating, the viscosity of starch keep increasing until a transparent paste is formed, which is a bit sticky. Theoptimum concentration of enzymes for liquefaction of 20%, 30% and 40% starch slurry is found to be 0.25% a-amylase with 0.2% amyloglucosidase which is similar as reported by Ku Ismail K. S, 2008. The authorhas proved the study by Aggarwal and Nigam, 2001 regarding the effective period of saccharification which is 24 hours, since the glucose concentration obtained in this experiment is much higher than the results reported by Ku Ismail K. S, 2008, who only saccharified for 1 hour. An improved calibration curve which has greater correlation should be obtained in order to improve the accuracy of the results. Ethanol yield from 20%, 30% and 40% starch with the same amount of enzymes (0.25% a-amylase and 0.2%amyloglucosidase) cassava starch are 14%, 16%, and 20%respectively, which are considered low comparedto Seinosuke studies(who obtained around 82.3 and 99.6%). 5 gram of Saccharomyces cerevisiae is assumed to be inadequate for an effective ethanol production. This low production might be due to no supplement provided for yeast, unsuitable environment condition for enhancing yeast growth and inadequate amount of yeast.

Pada level pendidikan dasar, yang mencakup SD/MI dan SMP/MTs, pemanfaatan perpustakaan sebagai sumber belajar bisa lebih efektif apabila pimpinan sekolah atau madrasah mengharuskan semua guru bidang studi untuk memberikan tugas terstruktur kepada siswa sebagai bahan penilaian kenaikan kelas ataupun kelulusan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini diselengarakan dengan sistem pelatihan tentang pemaanfaatan perpustakaan sebagai sumber belajar melalui pemberdayaan guru bidang studi. Kasimpulan kajian ini menyebutkan bahwa: Pertama, perpustakaan memiliki peran penting dalam mempertahakan dan sekaligus mengembangkan budaya baca dan tulis di kalangan siswa, guru, dan tenaga kependidikan.     Power generation by using piezoelectric transducer with bending mechanism support

    This paper presents about power generation by using piezoelectric transducer with bending mechanism support. In this study, bending mechanism is developed by employing 3D printer technology. This 3D model is used as a support for a piezoelectric transducer during deflection or bending process. During deflection condition, stress that applied on the piezoelectric transducer will generate electrical energy. The 3D model helps the piezoelectric transducer to produce more voltage output. A finger press test used as evaluation method for the voltage output of the piezoelectric transducer. The experiment is tested by varying three different 3D model with the different diameter for the middle hole for each of the model. A round shape of the piezoelectric transducer with size of 50 mm in diameter is used to conduct the experiment. Thus, when the piezoelectric transducer placed on the 3D model with 0 mm in diameter of middle hole will producing 5.4 V voltage output. However, 3D model with 30 mm diameter of middle hole, the output increases up to 19.0 V. The output voltage for piezoelectric transducer reached its highest voltage when placed on the 3D model with middle hole of 40 mm which is 34.4 V. This bending mechanism can be used to increase the output of piezoelectric transducer as it applied underneath footstep tile at crowded area to harvest the energy produced from walking activities. The power generated can be used to power up various electronic devices

    This study aims to identify and describe law enforcement against minor theft crimes based on Perma No. 2 of 2012. This study uses a normative juridical approach, which is descriptive and analytical in nature. The data used is secondary data obtained through library research, which is then analyzed qualitatively. The result of this research is that law enforcement against minor theft crimes based on Perma No.2 of 2012 is carried out by judges by imposing fines from the general minimum limit to the specific maximum that has been adjusted, depending on the judge's discretion to consider the ability of the defendant and the economic conditions of the local community. There is an adjustment in the amount of the fine, then the problem of the value of the criminal penalty which is felt to be too low will be resolved, and the punishable fines that are threatened will be more in accordance with the development of the community. Imposing a fine for the perpetrator of minor theft will be more beneficial, both for the perpetrator, the community and the state itself, while for the victim, they will also receive justice

    Study of Flow Characteristics in a Closed-Loop Low-Speed Wind Tunnel

    Wind tunnel is an element or experimental device that plays an important role in the development of aerodynamics. In general, there are two types of wind tunnels: open-loop wind tunnels and closed-loop wind tunnels. Furthermore, based on the flow velocity in the wind tunnel, the wind tunnel can also be categorized into several types: low-speed wind tunnel and high-speed wind tunnel, including sub-sonic and supersonic wind tunnels. In this study it is used a low-speed closed-loop wind tunnel type. The maximum atainable velocity of airflow in the wind tunnel is about 46 m/s with turbulence intensity (TI) as low as 0.41 percent. The flow parameters that being evaluated in this study include the velocity profiles and intensity of turbulence (TI) in some parts or sections of the wind tunnel. Pressure measurements in the wind tunnel are performed using a Pitot tube connected to a calibrated pressure transducer. The measured values of pressures are then converted into the fluid velocities and turbulence intensities. The results show that the flow quality in the main test section of the wind tunnel is good enough. The intensity of the flow turbulence on the inlet side of the test section is about 0.41 percent at the centerline velocity of approximately 40 m/s. In some parts of the wind tunnel, turbulence intensity is still relatively high, as in the small elbow outlet where TI is higher than 18 percent

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana peningkatankemakemampuan Literasi Mahasiswa Jurusan ilmu perpustakaan Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar melalui Sesamata Fest III. Dalam penelitian ini, penulismenggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif Menurut Robert K. Yin dengan studimenggunakan data kualitatif, seperti kata-kata, gambar, dan bahan cetak untukmenjelaskan hubungan social, memberikan interprestasi atas suatu fenomena ataumemberikan makna atas suatu kegiatan atau peristiwa. Penelitian kualitatif inidilakukan dengan wawancara secara semi terstruktur.Terdapat 12 Informan yang terdiridari panitia dan peserta Event Literasi Sesamata Fest III. Adapun hasil penelitian yang ditemukan sebagai berikut : 1) Sebagian besar mahasiswa Ilmu perpustakaan pahammengenai literasi, secara umum telah mengerti dan paham mengenai literasi Informasi. Secara keseluruhan dari informan mengemukakan pendapat yang sama persis denganyang diungkapkan informan lainnya mengenai pemahaman tentang literasi. Pemahaman terhadap Literasi Informasi adalah suatu proses yang melibatkanpemahaman dan segala penguasaan atas berbagai jenis dari literasi itu sendiri. 2) mengenai Event Literasi Sesamata Fest III Dari jumlah keseluruhan informanberpendapat bahwa Sesamata Fest III itu memberikan amat banyak manfaat dalamberliterasi dan menambah banyak ilmu pengetahuan. 3) untuk meningkatkankemampuan literasi mahasiswa Jurusan ilmu Perpustakaan dari hasil wawancara dariinforman di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan Simposium Nasional ini sangat diminati dari Event Literasi Sesamata Fest III karena menghadirkan narasumber yang hebat di bidang Kepustakawanan
