    Sighted: an overview

    Get PDF
This article is an examination of audience responses to Sighted, two solo dance performances presented individually and simultaneously. The work was presented at venues related to different disciplines. Audience members, who numbered up to 20 and who were free to choose where to stand or move around the space and how to behave, were invited immediately following the performance to write down their responses. This was in order to elicit direct and undigested thoughts before conversation or dialogue has started. These, together with interviews with the dancers, form the basis for this research, which looks at the nature of venues and audiences and to what extent privately felt and communally understood audience commentary can correlate

The Covid-19 has had an impact on all fields, especially in education. Higher education changes its learning methods from face-to-face to distance learning. The teaching assistant class at PTS ”X” must also turn into distance learning. The online learning process has some limitations so that it increase the academic fraud by students. The purpose of this study is to explain the types of events that occur during online learning in the assistance class, the causal factors and efforts to prevent them. This research is a case study in the teaching assistant class at University X. The data was obtained by inteviewing, observing, and analyzing the assistance documents which were then analyzed by qualitative method. The results of this study indicate that online learning process at University X has not been effective to prevent academic fraud so plagiarism, data manipulation, cheating, and collusion occur. Some recommendations to improve the online learning system should be carried out, such as enforcement of  rules and strong punishment related to fraud, modification of the assessment system, increased supervision and good communication between assistants and assistant class participants. The results of this study are expected to be adopted by universities to increase the effectiveness of the online learning system used

Mental health conditions and their treatments add further to fall risk but we have little information regarding who falls, where and when within mental health settings. Methods: This paper presents an overview of the pattern of falls by older patients within an in-patient mental health setting in the South of England using routine records completed by staff when a fall occurs. 920 fall reports over three years were analysed, and 7 focus groups were undertaken with ward staff to explore how staff understood falls and their experiences of using the falls reporting system. Results: In terms of diagnosis 40% of fallers had a primary functional diagnosis, 46% an organic mental health diagnosis (14% non-specific diagnosis), average age was 81.7 years (range 59 to 99 years; SD 8.3) and 57% were female. Approximately one quarter, 27%, of falls were observed by staff. Falls were not evenly distributed across either day of week or time of day, with peak times for falls on Tuesday and Saturday and morning (7-8 and 9-10am) and subsidiary peaks between noon and 1pm and early evening (5-6pm). Almost half of falls occurred in private spaces in the ward such as bedrooms, and 42% in public spaces such as sitting rooms. However 60% of falls in public spaces were unseen. Reporting in these settings was problematic for staff and patients were sometimes described as placing themselves on the floor as a consequence of their mental health condition. The average time to first fall was 5 weeks. Conclusions: Routine mapping of falls could be undertaken at ward and organization level and contribute to better understanding of the local factors contributing to falls. Exploring incident report data in focus groups with staff helped us and them to interpret the data and to understand some of the decision making staff engage in everyday when reporting falls.Peer reviewedFinal Published versio

USING SHIN LENGTH TO DETERMINE KICK PLATE POSITION OPTIMIZES SELECT SWIM START MECHANICS IN ELITE SWIMMERS

    Get PDF
The track start kick plate position is often decided by the level of comfort of the swimmer. The purpose of this study was to use shin length as a measure to determine kick plate position and effects on performance. 20 elite swimmers performed 3 starts at 3 kick plate distances (\u3c shin length, shin length, and \u3e shin length). Differences in reaction time, block phase time (BT), flight phase time, flight distance, underwater phase time, time to the 15 m mark, knee flexion and ankle dorsiflexion angles were examined between the positions. BT was significantly different, (F(2,38)=4.264, p=.026). BT was lower when the kick plate distance was one shin’s length versus \u3c shin length (0.691+0.055 vs 0.715+0.056 sec) and \u3e shin length (0.691+0.055 vs 0.698+0.056 sec), p\u3c.05. Shin length is a quick and individualized measure that can be used by coaches to set the kick plate position without compromising performance

EFFECTS OF STANDARDIZING KICK PLATE POSITION ON TRACK START BIOMECHANICS IN ELITE SWIMMERS

Kick plate position in the track start is arbitrary but may influence performance. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of standardizing kick plate position based on shin length. 15 elite swimmers performed 3 starts at 3 kick plate positions (\u3c shin length, shin length, and \u3e shin length). Differences in reaction time (RT), block phase time, flight phase time, flight distance, underwater phase time, and time to the 15 m mark were examined between kick plate positions. Only RT was significantly different, (F(2,28)=4.713, p=.017). RT was lower when the kick plate distance was one shin’s length versus \u3c shin length (0.173+0.034vs 0.194+0.061 sec) and \u3e shin length (0.173+0.034 vs 0.195+0.047 sec),

The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the transfer pricing policy of the company. This study uses secondary data, namely financial statements and annual reports of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) from 2016 to 2018. The sample selection technique that will be used is using a purposive sampling method. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis. Taxes and exchange rates have no effect on transfer pricing while foreign ownership has a positive effect on transfer pricing. The company has various reasons for conducting transfer pricing so investors need to carefully analyze company policies so as not to get caught up in the reports presented by the company's management. In addition, the government as a regulator must also review various policies related to transfer pricing to minimize the occurrence of adverse transfer pricing actions. The limited manufacturing companies with a multinational level so that the samples obtained are still limited and the lack of information about the transfer pricing carried out by the company

Conceptualizing Positive and Negative Experiences and Responses in the Basic Communication Course

    Get PDF
The present study used qualitative analysis of 259 students’ positive and negative experiences in the basic course and the ways in which they responded to these events. Students described four negative experiences: poor academic performance, time management, communication apprehension, and teacher driven challenges and four positive experiences: relational, growth, and presentation success. Students responded to these negative experiences using behavioral change, support seeking, doing nothing, and responded to positive experiences using emotive responses, communication with others, engaging in celebrating activities, applying skills, and lacking celebration

Distributor UD.
