Robust dual reconstruction systems and fusion frames

We study the duality of reconstruction systems, which are g-frames in a finite dimensional setting. These systems allow redundant linear encoding-decoding schemes implemented by the so-called dual reconstruction systems. We are particularly interested in the projective reconstruction systems that are the analogue of fusion frames in this context. Thus, we focus on dual systems of a fixed projective system that are optimal with respect to erasures of the reconstruction system coefficients involved in the decoding process. We consider two different measures of the reconstruction error in a blind reconstruction algorithm. We also study the projective reconstruction system that best approximate an arbitrary reconstruction system, based on some well known results in matrix theory. Finally, we present a family of examples in which the problem of existence of a dual projective system of a reconstruction system of this type is considered.Fil: Massey, Pedro Gustavo. Duality in reconstruction systems

We consider reconstruction systems (RS's), which are G-frames in a finite dimensional setting, and that includes the fusion frames as projective RS's. We describe the spectral picture of the set of RS operators for the projective systems with fixed weights. We also introduce a functional defined on dual pairs of RS's, called the joint potential, and study the structure of the minimizers of this functional. In the case of irreducible RS's the minimizers are characterize as the tight systems. In the general case we give spectral and geometric characterizations of the minimizers of the joint potential. At the end of the paper we show several examples that illustrate our results.Fil: Massey, Pedro Gustavo. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Oblique projections and frames

We characterize those frames on a Hilbert space H which can be represented as the image of an orthonormal basis by an oblique projection defined on an extension K of H. We show that all frames with infinite excess, and frame bounds 1 ≤ A ≤ B,are of this type. This gives a generalization of a result of Han and Larson which only holds for normalized tight frames.Fil: Antezana, Jorge Abel. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Unrest at Domuyo Volcano, Argentina, detected by geophysical and geodetic data and morphometric analysis

New volcanic unrest has been detected in the Domuyo Volcanic Center (DVC), to the east of the Andes Southern Volcanic Zone in Argentina. To better understand this activity, we investigated new seismic monitoring data, gravimetric and magnetic campaign data, and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) deformation maps, and we derived an image of the magma plumbing system and the likely source of the unrest episode. Seismic events recorded during 2017-2018 nucleate beneath the southwestern flank of the DVC. Ground deformation maps derived from InSAR processing of Sentinel-1 data exhibit an inflation area exceeding 300 km2, from 2014 to at least March 2018, which can be explained by an inflating sill model located 7 km deep. The Bouguer anomaly reveals a negative density contrast of ~35 km wavelength, which is spatially coincident with the InSAR pattern. Our 3D density modeling suggests a body approximately 4-6 km deep with a density contrast of -550 kg/m3. Therefore, the geophysical and geodetic data allow identification of the plumbing system that is subject to inflation at these shallow crustal depths. We compared the presence and dimensions of the inferred doming area to the drainage patterns of the area, which support long-established incremental uplift according to morphometric analysis. Future studies will allow us to investigate further whether the new unrest is hydrothermal or magmatic in origin.Fil: Astort, Ana. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. The algorithm is designed to start the optimization process from a predefined torque-speed area, its desired envelope, and the performance characteristics of the motor to be obtained after the optimization process, providing the information in an efficiency map, according to a predefined control strategy (MTPA, MTPV, etc.). This work also implements an image comparison technique based on the structural similarity index to evaluate the objective function.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

Innermost Stable Circular Orbits and Epicyclic Frequencies Around a Magnetized Neutron Star

A full-relativistic approach is used to compute the radius of the innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO), the Keplerian, frame-dragging, precession and oscillation frequencies of the radial and vertical motions of neutral test particles orbiting the equatorial plane of a magnetized neutron star. The space-time around the star is modelled by the six parametric solution derived by Pachon et al. It is shown that the inclusion of an intense magnetic field, such as the one of a neutron star, have non-negligible effects on the above physical quantities, and therefore, its inclusion is necessary in order to obtain a more accurate and realistic description of the physical processes occurring in the neighbourhood of this kind of objects such as the dynamics of accretion disk. The results discussed here also suggest that the consideration of strong magnetic fields may introduce non-negligible corrections in, e.g., the relativistic precession model and therefore on the predictions made on the mass of neutron stars.Comment: LaTeX file, 13 pages, 4 figure
