IDENTIFICATION OF CAREER MANAGEMENT SKILLS RELATED PROBLEMS IN THE STUDY PROCESS OF PODOLOGISTS

    Get PDF
Despite the competencies acquired in study process, results of learning, diploma and provided guidance measures podologs as same as other young specialists often lack skills to create successful proffesional career in their field. At this moment in Latvia, specific proffesion, including podologs, career management skill set is not defined. For students of podology learning of mentioned skills is indirectly integrated in educational process, which is reflected by the study program aims, methods and expected results. The aim of the article is to analyse career management skills identification problems in study process of podologs and in this regard, by empirical research results on podologs career management skills in the study process.

Two configurations of fast pyrolysis realized in flowing (inert gas flow) and ablative-type reactors were used for phenolic fraction obtaining. The maximum yield of phenolic compounds was achieved at 450 degrees of Celsius in the case of ablative reactor usage (7,6%). Application of catalysts (Na+ and K+) allowed to increase the yield of phenolic compounds up to 8,5%

The European Union New Landscape: Impetus for Sustainable Economic Growth in Central Asia

This article explores the problems of the EU in the challenging times for the world economy, Brexit, EU solidarity towards external policies and, in relation to countries in Central Asia. We examine the EU regional approach from two perspectives: the socio-economic situation as an integral component of the overall transformation process in Central Asia, and from the perspective of political economy of the regional cooperation perspectives of this region’s countries with the EU. This methodological approach serves as a tool of integrating several main goals related to the EU’s soft power that require the development and support of civil society and promotion of European values in Central Asia. This contribution aims to offer insight into the implementation of the EU external policies approach towards countries in Central Asia, taking into consideration implications of the new political and economic realities in the EU. Also, further economic development in the region of Central Asia as a precondition for the prosperity and security of countries in the region is discussed. The article concludes that the EU external policies have inevitably become more important due to the new economic and political powers emerging in Asia.publishersversionPeer reviewe

Assessment of wood microstructural changes after one-stage thermo-hydro treatment (THT) by micro X-ray computed tomography

The microstructural changes in a selection of softwoods and hardwoods resulting from thermo-hydro treatment (THT) at 160°C were examined by means of a state-of-the-art micro X-ray computed tomography. A dedicated X-ray scanning and volumetric processing protocol was developed. All reconstructed volumes had an approximate voxel pitch between 0.8 and 1.2 μm3. The microstructures of the same needle-shaped specimens before and after THT were visualized, and the individual parameters (maximum opening and lumen volume) for various cell types were quantified and compared. The highest values of substance volume were recorded for the ash sapwood (81%) and spruce specimens (72%). After THT, a significant correlation was found between the mass loss determined by gravimetry and the X-ray volume loss. The largest change occurred in the lumen volume of several tissue components, such as libriform fibers, tracheids, and ray parenchyma. The average aspen fiber volume reduction after THT was 31%, a value 2.6 times higher than the volume reduction of the average vessels. The porosity of ash sapwood increased from 41 to 56%, whereas the porosity of birch decreased from 34 to 29%

The article is devoted to marketing decision making by different generations. Author have analysed generations, its different formulationsin the world and Latvia. Author described generations of Latvian consumers, analysing statistical data and research results ofadvertising agency DDB Latvia and Gfk. The Development of Generations has significantly influenced the consumption, consumerbehavior, buying process. Very special role in the article is devoted to the generations what will help companies and individuals towork more efficiency in distribution of goods and services in the market. Relevant information about the consumer obtained in atimely manner enables an enterprise to plan their work on the market more successfully.KEYWORDS: Consumer behavior, Generation, Consumption.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15181/rfds.v11i3.60

Precision Livestock Farming IT Support Model for the Poultry Industry

The presented work proposes a practical approach to bird weight data processing and augmentation to enable production outcome forecast model training, which contributes to higher productivity. We suggest using the parametrized model, where parameter values are found through genetic optimization and thus are closely corresponding to broiler body weight factual measurements. The proposed approach is implemented as a stand-alone software system, exposing the models through containerized web services enabling different use scenarios
