Celtic FCâs 1967 Lisbon Lions:Why the European Cup victory of the first club from Britain was a defining moment for the Irish diaspora in Scotland
In 1967, in Lisbon, Celtic Football Club, won the European Cup becoming the first club outside of Portugal, Spain and Italy to win it. The win was and is totemic for the Irish Catholic immigrant community in Scotland that has historically supported Celtic. We suggest the significance of the win reveals intersections of ethnicity, religion, nationalism, and the politics of âsectarianismâ in Scotland. During a period of discriminatory practices and attitudes towards Irish descended Catholics in Scotland, this iconic win for a Scottish based club born of Irish Catholics personified for this diaspora that (on one level) their day had arrived. This article explores the socio-cultural significance and legacy of âLisbon 67Êč for insider and outsider groups in Scotland. We reveal that soccer remains a central component of group memory connecting the past, present and future. We suggest Celticâs win offered confidence and hope to a marginalized group within Scotland
Yukawa Couplings in Heterotic Compactification
We present a practical, algebraic method for efficiently calculating the
Yukawa couplings of a large class of heterotic compactifications on Calabi-Yau
three-folds with non-standard embeddings. Our methodology covers all of, though
is not restricted to, the recently classified positive monads over favourable
complete intersection Calabi-Yau three-folds. Since the algorithm is based on
manipulating polynomials it can be easily implemented on a computer. This makes
the automated investigation of Yukawa couplings for large classes of smooth
heterotic compactifications a viable possibility.Comment: 38 page
First-order cosmological phase transitions in the radiation dominated era
We consider first-order phase transitions of the Universe in the
radiation-dominated era. We argue that in general the velocity of interfaces is
non-relativistic due to the interaction with the plasma and the release of
latent heat. We study the general evolution of such slow phase transitions,
which comprise essentially a short reheating stage and a longer phase
equilibrium stage. We perform a completely analytical description of both
stages. Some rough approximations are needed for the first stage, due to the
non-trivial relations between the quantities that determine the variation of
temperature with time. The second stage, instead, is considerably simplified by
the fact that it develops at a constant temperature, close to the critical one.
Indeed, in this case the equations can be solved exactly, including
back-reaction on the expansion of the Universe. This treatment also applies to
phase transitions mediated by impurities. We also investigate the relations
between the different parameters that govern the characteristics of the phase
transition and its cosmological consequences, and discuss the dependence of

Electroweak Phase Transition in Two Higgs Doublet Models
We reexamine the strength of the first order phase transition in the
electroweak theory supplemented by an extra Higgs doublet. The
finite-temperature effective potential, , is computed to one-loop
order, including the summation of ring diagrams, to study the ratio
of the Higgs field VEV to the critical temperature. We make a
number of improvements over previous treatments, including a consistent
treatment of Goldstone bosons in , an accurate analytic approximation
to valid for any mass-to-temperature ratios, and use of the
experimentally measured top quark mass. For two-Higgs doublet models, we
identify a significant region of parameter space where is large
enough for electroweak baryogenesis, and we argue that this identification
should persist even at higher orders in perturbation theory. In the case of the
minimal supersymmetric standard model, our results indicate that the extra

Dynamics of Two Higgs Doublet CP Violation and Baryogenesis at the Electroweak Phase Transition
We quantitatively study the charge transport mechanism of electroweak
baryogenesis in a realistic two-Higgs-doublet model, comparing the
contributions from quarks and leptons reflecting from electroweak domain walls,
and comparing the exact profile of the CP-violating phase with a commonly used
ansatz. We note that the phenomenon of spontaneous CP violation at high
temperature can occur in this model, even when there is no CP violation at zero
temperature. We include all known effects which are likely to influence the
baryon production rate, including strong sphalerons, the nontrivial dispersion
relations of the quasiparticles in the plasma, and Debye screening of gauged
charges. We confirm the claim of Joyce, Prokopec and Turok that the reflection
of tau leptons from the wall gives the dominant effect. We conclude that this
mechanism is marginally strong enough to produce the observed baryon asymmetry

Search for Higgs Bosons in e+e- Collisions at 183 GeV
The data collected by the OPAL experiment at sqrts=183 GeV were used to
search for Higgs bosons which are predicted by the Standard Model and various
extensions, such as general models with two Higgs field doublets and the
Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). The data correspond to an
integrated luminosity of approximately 54pb-1. None of the searches for neutral
and charged Higgs bosons have revealed an excess of events beyond the expected
background. This negative outcome, in combination with similar results from
searches at lower energies, leads to new limits for the Higgs boson masses and
other model parameters. In particular, the 95% confidence level lower limit for
the mass of the Standard Model Higgs boson is 88.3 GeV. Charged Higgs bosons
can be excluded for masses up to 59.5 GeV. In the MSSM, mh > 70.5 GeV and mA >
72.0 GeV are obtained for tan{beta}>1, no and maximal scalar top mixing and
soft SUSY-breaking masses of 1 TeV. The range 0.8 < tanb < 1.9 is excluded for
minimal scalar top mixing and m{top} < 175 GeV. More general scans of the MSSM

A Measurement of the Product Branching Ratio f(b->Lambda_b).BR(Lambda_b->Lambda X) in Z0 Decays
The product branching ratio, f(b->Lambda_b).BR(Lambda_b->Lambda X), where
Lambda_b denotes any weakly-decaying b-baryon, has been measured using the OPAL
detector at LEP. Lambda_b are selected by the presence of energetic Lambda
particles in bottom events tagged by the presence of displaced secondary
vertices. A fit to the momenta of the Lambda particles separates signal from B
meson and fragmentation backgrounds. The measured product branching ratio is
f(b->Lambda_b).BR(Lambda_b->Lambda X) = (2.67+-0.38(stat)+0.67-0.60(sys))%
Combined with a previous OPAL measurement, one obtains

Measurement of the Michel Parameters in Leptonic Tau Decays
The Michel parameters of the leptonic tau decays are measured using the OPAL
detector at LEP. The Michel parameters are extracted from the energy spectra of
the charged decay leptons and from their energy-energy correlations. A new
method involving a global likelihood fit of Monte Carlo generated events with
complete detector simulation and background treatment has been applied to the
data recorded at center-of-mass energies close to sqrt(s) = M(Z) corresponding
to an integrated luminosity of 155 pb-1 during the years 1990 to 1995. If e-mu
universality is assumed and inferring the tau polarization from neutral current
data, the measured Michel parameters are extracted. Limits on non-standard
coupling constants and on the masses of new gauge bosons are obtained. The

E-retailing ethics in Egypt and its effect on customer repurchase intention
The theoretical understanding of online shopping behaviour has received much attention. Less focus has been given to the formation of the ethical issues that result from online shopper interactions with e-retailers. The vast majority of earlier research on this area is conceptual in nature and limited in scope by focusing on consumersâ privacy issues. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to propose a theoretical model explaining what factors contribute to online retailing ethics and its effect on customer repurchase intention. The data were analysed using variance-based structural equation modelling, employing partial least squares regression. Findings indicate that the five factors of the online retailing ethics (security, privacy, non- deception, fulfilment/reliability, and corporate social responsibility) are strongly predictive of online consumersâ repurchase intention. The results offer important implications for e-retailers and are likely to stimulate further research in the area of e-ethics from the consumersâ perspective
Quasielastic axial-vector mass from experiments on neutrino-nucleus scattering
We analyze available experimental data on the total and differential
charged-current cross sections for quasielastic neutrino and antineutrino
scattering off nucleons, measured with a variety of nuclear targets in the
accelerator experiments at ANL, BNL, FNAL, CERN, and IHEP, dating from the end
of sixties to the present day. The data are used to adjust the poorly known
