However, the intensity of farming has changed significantly through the last decade as ranks of traditional holistic organic farmers have been joined by much more economically-driven new organic farmers. At the same time there have also been steady improvements in farming methodology and crop types resulting in efficiency in organic farming which can often rival its conventional counterparts. Weakly-Interacting Bosons in a Trap within Approximate Second Quantization Approach
The theory of Bogoliubov is generalized for the case of a weakly-interacting
Bose-gas in harmonic trap. A set of nonlinear matrix equations is obtained to
make the diagonalization of Hamiltonian possible. Its perturbative solution is
used for the calculation of the energy and the condensate fraction of the model

Does the QCD plasma contain propagating gluons?
Comparison of two appropriately chosen screening masses of colour singlet
operators in the pure glue QCD plasma indicates that at sufficiently high
temperature it contains a weakly-interacting massive quasi-particle with the
quantum numbers of the electric gluon. Still in the deconfined phase, but
closer to T_c, the same mass ratio is similar to that at zero temperature,
indicating that the propagating modes are more glueball-like, albeit with a
lower scale for the masses. We observe a continuity between these two regimes.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Influence of entrance-channel magicity and isospin on quasi-fission
The role of spherical quantum shells in the competition between fusion and
quasi-fission is studied for reactions forming heavy elements. Measurements of
fission fragment mass distributions for different reactions leading to similar
compound nuclei have been made near the fusion barrier. In general, more
quasi-fission is observed for reactions with non-magic nuclei. However, the
Ca+Pb reaction is an exception, showing strong evidence for
quasi-fission, though both nuclei are doubly magic. Time-dependent Hartree-Fock
calculations predict fast equilibration of in the two fragments early in
the collision. This transfer of nucleons breaks the shell effect, causing this
reaction to behave more like a non-magic one in the competition between fusion
and quasi-fission. Future measurements of fission in reactions with exotic
beams should be able to test this idea with larger asymmetries.Comment: accepted for publication in Physics Letters
Quasiparticle excitation in and around the vortex core of underdoped YBa_2Cu_4O_8 studied by site-selective NMR
We report a site-selective ^{17}O spin-lattice relaxation rate T_1^{-1} in
the vortex state of underdoped YBa_2Cu_4O_8. We found that T_1^{-1} at the
planar sites exhibits an unusual nonmonotonic NMR frequency dependence. In the
region well outside the vortex core, T_1^{-1} cannot be simply explained by the
density of states of the Doppler-shifted quasiparticles in the d-wave
superconductor. Based on T_1^{-1} in the vortex core region, we establish
strong evidence that the local density of states within the vortex core is
strongly reduced.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
E1 amplitudes, lifetimes, and polarizabilities of the low-lying levels of atomic ytterbium
The results of ab initio calculation of E1 amplitudes, lifetimes,and
polarizabilities for several low-lying levels of ytterbium are reported. The
effective Hamiltonian for the valence electrons has been constructed in the
frame of CI+MBPT method and solutions of many electron equation are found.Comment: 11 pages, submitted to Phys.Rev.
Optical symmetries and anisotropic transport in high-Tc superconductors
A simple symmetry analysis of in-plane and out-of-plane transport in a family
of high temperature superconductors is presented. It is shown that generalized
scaling relations exist between the low frequency electronic Raman response and
the low frequency in-plane and out-of-plane conductivities in both the normal
and superconducting states of the cuprates. Specifically, for both the normal
and superconducting state, the temperature dependence of the low frequency
Raman slope scales with the axis conductivity, while the
Raman slope scales with the in-plane conductivity. Comparison with experiments
in the normal state of Bi-2212 and Y-123 imply that the nodal transport is
largely doping independent and metallic, while transport near the BZ axes is
governed by a quantum critical point near doping holes per
CuO plaquette. Important differences for La-214 are discussed. It is also
shown that the axis conductivity rise for is a consequence of
partial conservation of in-plane momentum for out-of-plane transport.Comment: 16 pages, 8 Figures (3 pages added, new discussion on pseudogap and
