    Cloud computing is the provision of IT resources (IaaS) on-demand using a pay as you go model over the internet.It is a broad and deep platform that helps customers builds sophisticated, scalable applications. To get the full benefits, research on a wide range of topics is needed. While resource over-provisioning can cost users more than necessary, resource under provisioning hurts the application performance. The cost effectiveness of cloud computing highly depends on how well the customer can optimize the cost of renting resources (VMs) from cloud providers. The issue of resource provisioning optimization from cloud-consumer potential is a complicated optimization issue, which includes much uncertainty parameters.     Seed germination ability and protein profiling of salt marsh plants at different concentration of sodium chloride

    757-765Soil salinity is an increasing problem in agriculture throughout the world. The utilization of halophytic plants for pasture and fodder production in saline soils is the only economic solution presently available. The present study discusses the effects of different concentrations of sodium chloride on seed germination and its impact was determined by protein profiling on Sesuvium portulacastrum, Suaeda maritima and Salicornia brachiata. Seeds germination was substantially delayed and reduced with an increase in NaCl to above threshold level. Changes in the pattern of protein expression were found to be prominent between control and NaCl treated seeds.pproximately 42 kDa, 26 kDa and 20 kDa were found to be up-regulated as the concentration of salt increases in Sesuvium portulacastrum. Whereas, significant variation in the protein patterns were observed in Suaeda maritima such as ~20 to 30 kDa protein bands were not visible and protein band of 55 kDa was particularly increased after 300 mM NaCl treatment. Similarly in Salicornia brachiata expression of 45 kDa protein was up regulated and approximately 25 kDa protein expression was down regulated as the concentration of salt increased to about 1.5 M, 2 M and 2.5 M. However, the upper limit for the survival of the seedling was 200 mM, 300 mM and 1 M for Sesuvium portulacastrum, Suaeda maritima and Salicornia brachiata, respectively. On the basis of the present investigation, this study suggests that optimal application of NaCl can benefit plant growth on stress tolerance studies and also helps for further investigation of the salt tolerance networks

    Extracellular Hsp72 concentration relates to a minimum endogenous criteria during acute exercise-heat exposure

    Extracellular heat-shock protein 72 (eHsp72) concentration increases during exercise-heat stress when conditions elicit physiological strain. Differences in severity of environmental and exercise stimuli have elicited varied response to stress. The present study aimed to quantify the extent of increased eHsp72 with increased exogenous heat stress, and determine related endogenous markers of strain in an exercise-heat model. Ten males cycled for 90 min at 50% O2peak in three conditions (TEMP, 20°C/63% RH; HOT, 30.2°C/51%RH; VHOT, 40.0°C/37%RH). Plasma was analysed for eHsp72 pre, immediately post and 24-h post each trial utilising a commercially available ELISA. Increased eHsp72 concentration was observed post VHOT trial (+172.4%) (P<0.05), but not TEMP (-1.9%) or HOT (+25.7%) conditions. eHsp72 returned to baseline values within 24hrs in all conditions. Changes were observed in rectal temperature (Trec), rate of Trec increase, area under the curve for Trec of 38.5°C and 39.0°C, duration Trec ≥ 38.5°C and ≥ 39.0°C, and change in muscle temperature, between VHOT, and TEMP and HOT, but not between TEMP and HOT. Each condition also elicited significantly increasing physiological strain, described by sweat rate, heart rate, physiological strain index, rating of perceived exertion and thermal sensation. Stepwise multiple regression reported rate of Trec increase and change in Trec to be predictors of increased eHsp72 concentration. Data suggests eHsp72 concentration increases once systemic temperature and sympathetic activity exceeds a minimum endogenous criteria elicited during VHOT conditions and is likely to be modulated by large, rapid changes in core temperature

    Polarized Neutron Reflectometry of Nickel Corrosion Inhibitors.

    Polarized neutron reflectometry has been used to investigate the detailed adsorption behavior and corrosion inhibition mechanism of two surfactants on a nickel surface under acidic conditions. Both the corrosion of the nickel surface and the structure of the adsorbed surfactant layer could be monitored in situ by the use of different solvent contrasts. Layer thicknesses and roughnesses were evaluated over a range of pH values, showing distinctly the superior corrosion inhibition of one negatively charged surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfate) compared to a positively charged example (dodecyl trimethylammonium bromide) due to its stronger binding interaction with the surface. It was found that adequate corrosion inhibition occurs at significantly less than full surface coverage.X-ray photoelectron spectra were obtained at the National Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) XPS User’s Service (NEXUS) at Newcastle University, an EPSRC midrange facility. NR data were obtained on the D17 instrument, and samples were treated in the laboratories of the Partnership for Soft Condensed Matter (PSCM) at the Institut Laue-Langevin.     Comparative Study Of CdS Thin Films Fabricated By A Simplified Spray Technique using Two Cationic Precursor Salts With Different Stability Constants

    Cadmium sulphide (CdS) thin films were prepared by a low cost simplified spray technique using perfume atomizer on glass substrates at 325?C using two different cationic precursors: cadmium acetate and cadmium chloride. The effect of cationic precursors on the structural, morphological, optical and electrical properties was studied. Structural studies reveal that the films are polycrystalline in nature with a mixture of both cubic and hexagonal phases with hexagonal phase being predominant irrespective of the precursor used. The preferential orientation factor f(h k l) of CdCl2 based film is high compared to that of Cd(CH3COO)2 based film. Grain size value were found to be equal to 21.33 nm and 32.63 nm for Cd(CH3COO)2 and CdCl2 based CdS films respectively. The optical transmittance in the visible range was found to be \u3e 85 % for both the films. The specular reflectance values for both the films are very low. High transmittance and low reflectance values obtained for the films makes them suitable as antireflecting coating materials for thin film solar cells

    Diabetic Retinopathy Classification Using CNN and Hybrid Deep Convolutional Neural Networks

    Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is an eye condition that mainly affects individuals who have diabetes and is one of the important causes of blindness in adults. As the infection progresses, it may lead to permanent loss of vision. Diagnosing diabetic retinopathy manually with the help of an ophthalmologist has been a tedious and a very laborious procedure. This paper not only focuses on diabetic retinopathy detection but also on the analysis of different DR stages, which is performed with the help of Deep Learning (DL) and transfer learning algorithms. CNN, hybrid CNN with ResNet, hybrid CNN with DenseNet are used on a huge dataset with around 3662 train images to automatically detect which stage DR has progressed. Five DR stages, which are 0 (No DR), 1 (Mild DR), 2 (Moderate), 3 (Severe) and 4 (Proliferative DR) are processed in the proposed work. The patient’s eye images are fed as input to the model. The proposed deep learning architectures like CNN, hybrid CNN with ResNet, hybrid CNN with DenseNet 2.1 are used to extract the features of the eye for effective classification. The models achieved an accuracy of 96.22%, 93.18% and 75.61% respectively. The paper concludes with a comparative study of the CNN, hybrid CNN with ResNet, hybrid CNN with DenseNet architectures that highlights hybrid CNN with DenseNet as the perfect deep learning classification model for automated DR detection

    Synthesis, growth and characterization of semiorganic nonlinear optical single crystal bis(thiourea) barium nitrate (BTBN) for frequency conversion

    A novel semiorganic nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal, bis(thiourea) barium nitrate (BTBN) was synthesized and grown by slow evaporation method. Structure of the new crystalline compound was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and it showed that BTBN belongs to orthorhombic crystal system. The crystalline nature of the BTBN was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction study. Important functional groups of BTBN were identified by FT-IR spectroscopic analysis. UV-Vis-NIR spectral study showed that the grown crystal is transparent in the entire visible region with low cut off wavelength of 304 nm. BTBN exhibits a SHG efficiency which is nearly 2.38 times higher than that of KDP. The BTBN crystal has high mechanical strength and belongs to soft category, which was confirmed by micorhardness study. The thermal stability of BTBN was determined from TGA and DTA thermal study which revealed that the BTBN crystal has thermal stability up to 243.1 °C. The surface properties and presence of elements was analyzed by SEM and EDAX study, respectively

    Assessment of depression, anxiety, stress, and sleep in the vertigo patients

    Background: Dysfunction of the vestibular system was linked with the development of psychological and sleep disorders. Vertigo is one of the most common clinical syndromes with a five percent prevalence in the adult population. Aim and Objective: To determine the depression, anxiety, stress, and sleep in vertigo patients. Material and Methods: A total of 50 male and female vertigo patients were part of the study after obtaining informed consent. Age and gender-matched 50 controls were also recruited. After recruitment, the participants underwent a general physical examination and filling out the questionnaires. Results: Age was not significantly different between the groups. Higher scores of depression were present in the cases when compared to the control group. Higher levels of anxiety were observed in the cases when compared with the control group. Significantly higher levels of stress scores were observed in the cases when compared to the control group. Significantly higher scores of insomnia were observed in the cases when compared with the control group. Conclusion: The present study results explain that there were significantly higher scores of depression, anxiety, stress, and insomnia scores in the participants of the cases group when compared with the control group
