Parental reports of preschoolersâ lexical and syntactic development: validation of the CDI-III for European Portuguese
This study presents the validation analysis of the European Portuguese version of the
MacArthur-Bates Communicative Development Inventory III (CDI-III-PT). The CDI-III-PT
is a parental report measure allowing researchers to assess expressive vocabulary and
the syntactic abilities of children aged 2;6â4;0. In this study, we present a version
comprising a lexical subscale which follows the Swedish adaptation and an original
syntactic subscale allowing us to include language-specific structures. The reports of
739 children were collected; in addition, a standardized measure of language was also
administered to a sub-sample of these children and the reports of preschool teachers
were collected for another sub-sample. The results indicate a high internal consistency
of the lexical and syntactic subscales. As for sociodemographic variables often found
to be predictors of language development, as measured by this type of instrument, the
results indicate that age and maternal education are significant predictors of the scores,
and that first-born children attain higher scores in vocabulary than later born children, but
no significant gender differences were found. The scores of the CDI-III-PT are positively
correlated with the ones obtained in the standardized languagemeasure, thus supporting
their validity. A high agreement between the reports of parents and teachers was also
found. These findings indicate that the CDI-III-PT has adequate psychometric properties
and that it can be a useful tool for research and clinical practice. The age-based norms
that are now provided can be used to evaluate whether a child is performing poorly
compared to their peers. This work was financially supported by Portuguese national funds through the FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology) within the framework of the CIEC (Research Center for Child Studies of the University of Minho) projects under the references UIDB/00317/2020 and UIDP/00317/2020
Molecular epidemiology of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii from Southern Brazil
Carbapenem resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii has reached extremely high levels worldwide and class D OXA-type carbapenemases are the main associated mechanism. The aim of this study was to evaluate the phenotypic and molecular profile of clinical carbapenem-resistant A. baumannii (CRAb) isolates from a southern Brazilian border region. A. baumannii species was identified by the presence of the blaOXA-51 gene and the susceptibility profile was determined by broth microdilution. The main carbapenemases were investigated by PCR and the typing of the CRAb isolates was performed by PFGE. During the study period, a total of 36 CRAb were recovered, 71.4% from respiratory tract samples from ICU patients. High level resistance to aminoglycosides and fluroquinolones were found in contrast to polymyxin B, for which all of CRAb were susceptible. The blaOXA-23 gene was present in 34 isolates and was the only one detected other than blaOXA-51. Molecular typing revealed the presence of four clonal strains, two of them endemic throughout the study period. To the best of our knowledge, our study brings the first data about resistance profile in Acinetobacter in the western border of south of Brazil and make aware of endemic clones of CRAb-producing-OXA-23 in this region of state, contributing for the construction of the national epidemiologic scenario of CRAb

to analyze the expectation of nurses about the succession of leaders in the hospital context.
Method:
a descriptive and exploratory study of a qualitative approach carried out with 36 nurses from a public university hospital selected using the snowball technique. The data collection was done through semi-structured interviews that were recorded and analyzed based on the assumptions of the Content Analysis technique, Thematic modality. Ethical criteria were adequately met.
Results:
the reports comprised two central categories, âWho Will Take My Place?â and âPotential and Openness to Plan the Succession of Leadership in Nursing,â the latter being divided into two subcategories: âNursing leadership in the hospital five years from nowâ and âStrengths for the implementation of a leadership succession planâ.
Conclusion:
from the results, positive aspects of the diagnosis of the leadership profile in the institution that favor the development of succession planning were verified. In addition, it was possible to perceive the necessity of the development of this planning in the hospital and its importance for the succession of leadership in Nursing. In this context, this study presents itself with an innovative character for exposing a theme that aims to potentiate the future of Nursing
Application of hormonal subdoses at acupoint Hou Hai in estrus synchronization protocols of goats
The objective was to evaluate the efficacy of hormonal subdoses at acupoint Hou Hai in estrus synchronization of goats. Sixty-nine females goats received intravaginal sponges containing 60 mg of medroxyprogesterone acetate for seven days and were randomly distributed among three treatments: T1 (n = 23): application of 125 ?g of PGF2? on the sixth day (D6) and 300 UI of eCG on the seventh day (D7), both intramuscularly (IM); T2 (n = 23) and T3 (n = 23): application 37.5 ?g of PGF2? at D6 and 90 UI of eCG at D7, applied by Hou Hai acupuncture and false acupuncture (IM), respectively. The goats were subjected to hormonal protocol and monitored for the coverage and evaluation of reproductive parameters. The data were subjected to normality analysis, followed by appropriate statistical tests for each variable. Greater numbers of estrus goats were obtained in treatments one (T1 = 100%) and three (T3 = 91.3%) (p 0.05) for sponge removal intervals at the beginning (35.9 h) and end (59.8 h) of estrus, and for the duration of estrus (24.7 h), gestation rate at 30 (77%) and 60 (76.7%) days, and prolificacy (1.9). The use of PGF2? and eCG in subdoses applied to the Hou Hai acupoint or false acupoint was efficient in synchronizing estrus in goats, based on the rate of gestation and prolificity of the animals

Information and communication technology for obstetric good practices
Objective: to investigate the use of information and communication technologies in good obstetrical practices.
Results and Discussion: the studies found have dealt with the use of different information technologies, demonstrating that they are essential to good obstetrical practices because they provide security and greater access to information, as well as provide a more efficient diagnosis and consequently an adequate treatment.
Conclusion: It is essential to use the technologies to achieve good obstetric practices throughout the health team. However, it is still necessary to carry out studies, as well as the creation of software that gives greater security to the welfare practices.
