During the War on Terror, when high rates of violence were occurring and schools were being forcefully torn down in Swat Valley of Pakistan, Malala Yousafzai fought for girls’ education rights. At just 17 years old, Malala Yousafzai has inspired people around the world with her passion and determination to make sure girls everywhere can get an education. When the Taliban tried to silence her, Malala answered their brutality with strength and resolve. Soon in the international media, she was acclaimed as a brave hero and later honored with a Nobel Prize. She received a mixed response for her efforts in Pakistan. While some praised her, others thought her as an opportunist or believed that there was a Western conspiracy behind her promotion on an international level. This article explores the disparities in media representation of Malala Yousafzai on global and local levels. Employing ethnographic research methods, we bring to light the perceptions of people from her hometown and juxtapose it with those of international media outlets. The article will help understand the complex controversies surrounding Yousafzai’s struggle and legacy

Double Sawi Transform: Theory and Applications to Boundary Values Problems

    Get PDF
Symmetry can play an important role in the study of boundary value problems, which are a type of problem in mathematics that involves finding the solutions to differential equations subject to given boundary conditions. Integral transforms play a crucial role in solving ordinary differential equations (ODEs), partial differential equations (PDEs), and integral equations. This article focuses on extending a single-valued Sawi transform to a double-valued ST, which we call the double Sawi (DS) transform. We derive some fundamental features and theorems for the proposed transform. Finally, we study the applications of the proposed transform by solving some boundary value problems such as the Fourier heat equation and the D’Alembert wave equation. The APC is supported by the Basque Government, Grant IT1555-22

Mathematical analysis of neurological disorder under fractional order derivative

    Get PDF
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a common neurological disorder that affects the central nervous system (CNS) and can cause lesions that spread over space and time. Our study proposes a mathematical model that illustrates the progression of the disease and its likelihood of recurrence. We use Caputo fractional-order (FO) derivative operators to represent non-negative solutions and to establish a steady-state point and basic reproductive number. We also employ functional analysis to prove the existence of unique solutions and use the Ulam-Hyres (UH) notion to demonstrate the stability of the solution for the proposed model. Furthermore, we conduct numerical simulations using an Euler-type numerical technique to validate our theoretical results. Our findings are presented through graphs that depict various behaviors of the model for different parameter values

Discriminatory dissolution testing for liquisolid compacts containing a poorly water-soluble drug (Hydrochlorothiazide)

    Get PDF
Drug release from liquisolid compacts is dependent on several variables and changes in experimental parameters, like drug loading and the type and quantity of the carrier material, which affect the dissolution rate, significantly. Therefore, a dissolution method is needed that can discriminate among in vitro release profiles of liquisolid compacts of varying nature. The objective of this study was to develop and validate a discriminatory dissolution testing method for liquisolid compacts of hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) to evaluate the effect of formulation and process variables on dissolution rate. Various experimental conditions were optimized, and the method was validated according to USP and ICH guidelines for different parameters like linearity, specificity, accuracy, precision, and stability of solution. Analysis of dissolution samples was carried out by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The discriminatory nature of the method was confirmed by determining dissolution rates of liquisolid compacts of HCTZ prepared with different load factors. A model-independent approach was applied for comparison of different dissolution profiles. Based on a screening study, USP apparatus I (basket method) was selected. The best in vitro dissolution profile was obtained using purified water containing Tween-80 (0.5% v/v) as the dissolution medium (900 mL), stirred at 75 rpm. Complete dissolution (99.83 ± 1.03%) was achieved within 60 min and dissolution media had no interference with sample analysis. HCTZ exhibited a linear response (r2 = 0.9974) in the selected dissolution medium and showed accurate results (98%–100%) in the concentration rage of 80%–120% of the dose. All validation parameters were found in acceptable range (%RSD > 2), and drug samples prepared in dissolution medium were stable for the specified period. Comparison of dissolution profiles in the official and developed media showed significant differences in f1 and f2 values. The developed dissolution test exhibited higher discriminative capacity in differentiating release profiles of HCTZ and can be applied during formulation development and quality control analysis of liquisolid compacts
