The purpose of this research is to analyze the existing Rakut Sitelu system in the social life of the Karo ethnic group in North Sumatra and to synthesize the values of Rakut Sitelu as a means of religious moderation in North Sumatra. The method used in this research is ethnography and reference tracing, involving data collection from interviews, books, journals, and manuscripts for further analysis. The results of this research conclude that Rakut Sitelu has deep roots in the Karo ethnic kinship, where the three bonds of kalimbubu, senina, and anak beru coexist in daily activities with an attitude of mutual respect, assistance, and cooperation based on their respective structures, without distinguishing religion. Rakut Sitelu also exhibits manifestations of religious moderation values, such as high tolerance, anti-violence, and accommodation of their own culture. This can serve as a reference for implementing moderate values in North Sumatra, especially for the Karo ethnic group

Determination of the age of an individual from the appearance and the fusion of the ossification centres is a well accepted fact in the field of medical and legal professions. A cross- sectional descriptive radiological study was carried out with the objective to estimate the age of appearance and fusion of the olecranon ossification centres of the upper end of the ulna of female subject in central Sudan. A total of 56 females aged between 6 to 18 years free of physical disabilities, nutritional and endocrine disorders were selected. A classification into five stages was applied to assess the ossification of the olecranon centre (1: Not ossified OC ; 2: Partial ossified (appearance); 3: Ossified, nonunion of the olecranon cenrtre and shaft; 4: Partial union of the epiphysis and metaphysis; Stage 5: complete fusion of the epiphysis and metaphysis. It was established that the oclecranon centre appeared at the age 8-10 years and completely fused to the shaft of ulna at the age 14-16 years. Olecranon process ossification; appearance and fusion was almost similar with other workers and the outcomes of the study can be utilized for Sudanese population

Background: Metabolic syndrome MS a cluster of disorders comprising obesity (central and abdominal), dyslipidaemias, glucose intolerance, insulin resistance (or hyperinsulinaemia) and hypertension – is highly predictive of type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. It should be emphasized that the metabolic syndrome is a syndrome and not a disease. The aim of this study is to evaluate the levels of serum phosphate in different levels in subjects with metabolic syndrome MS and Correlation between serum phosphate levels with metabolic syndrome components. The study was carried out at the National diabetes Center (NDC) /AL-Mustansiryia University ,the period from (Desmber.2011 – May 2012) One hundred forty (140) Iraqi individuals enrolled in the study (100 subject diagnosed as having metabolic syndrome and 40 as control group). The diagnosis of metabolic syndrome was based on Adult Treatment Panel III guidelines. The results of the serum phosphate concentrations in both groups showed that subjects with metabolic syndrome had significantly lower phosphate concentrations 1.52 mg/dl compared with that of control 2.29 mg/dl P?0.0001. The clinical significance of these electrolyte disturbances, as one of the diagnostic criteria of metabolic syndrome. In addition this electrolyte imbalance may have a role in prevention and or treatment of the metabolic syndrome

Board of director attributes, audit committee characteristics and institutional ownership on Malaysian IPOS liquidity

    Get PDF
Over the past two decades, Malaysia has had a very low turnover ratio, and this is an issue affecting the liquidity of Initial Public Offering (IPO) firms. In recent years, IPO firms are inclined to improve their corporate governance mechanisms to enhance their financial reporting quality. Therefore, this study examines to what extent the internal monitoring mechanisms, namely board of directors, audit committee, and institutional ownership affect the liquidity of IPOs. In addition, this study examines the influence of the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance 2012 (MCCG 2012) as a moderating factor between audit committee and the liquidity of IPOs. This study employs the cross-sectional regression analysis for 305 IPOs listed on the Bursa Malaysia between 2002 and 2017. The findings of this study reveal that among the board and audit committee characteristics, board size and independence, audit committee size and independence are positive and significantly related to the liquidity of IPOs. The findings also indicate a significant positive relationship between institutional ownership and the liquidity of IPOs. MCCG 2012 is significantly moderate the relationship between audit committee characteristics and liquidity of IPOs. Based on the findings, this study contributes to a better understanding of the role of corporate governance mechanisms and the liquidity of IPOs. The results suggest that IPO firms should improve the effectiveness of the board of directors and audit committees to enhance their financial reporting quality and increase transparency which in turn reduces information asymmetry and positively influences their liquidity. The findings will benefit investors, regulators and market participants by giving them a clear picture of the characteristics of the board of directors and the audit committees that could improve financial reporting quality and help them in their investment decisions because their wealth depends on the accuracy of the information disclosed in the financial reports

The book " Awakening eyes in Proverbs and Preaching" by Mohamad Osman Jalal is one of the literary works of the nineteenth century which is a linguistic content for various cultural currents and tributaries that influenced the Egyptian environment. The causes of the modern literary renaissance, from education, research, translation, journalism and others to face the remnants of the intellectual and linguistic legacy of the ages of foreign sovereignty. It can be said that this book is one of the first translated contributions that paved the way for the creation of children's literature in the modern Arabic literature in Egypt through the arabization of some animal tales from the tales of the French poet Lafontaine.                                     The poet Mohammad Othman Jalal  did not stop at the limits of literal translation, and did not commit to the transfer of the stories as they are in their foreign origins. He even deleted them and amended them. He also came close to the Egyptian soul. He expressed this through systems and pieces of his writings,

Correlation Profile of Suppression of Tumorigenicity 2 and/or Interleukin-33 with Biomarkers in the Adipose Tissue of Individuals with Different Metabolic States

    Get PDF
Purpose: The suppression of tumorigenicity 2 (ST2) has two main splice variants including a membrane bound (ST2) form, which activates the myeloid differentiation primary response 88 (MyD88)/nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappa B) signaling pathway, and a secreted soluble form (sST2), which acts as a decoy receptor for ST2 ligand, interleukin (IL)-33. The IL-33/ST2 axis is protective against obesity, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes (T2D). In humans, adipose tissue IL-33 displays distinct correlation profiles with glycated hemoglobin, ST2, and other immunometabolic mediators, depending on the glycemic health of the individuals. We determined whether adipose tissue ST2 displays distinct correlation profiles with immunometabolic mediators and whether ST2 and/or IL-33 are correlated with intracellular signaling molecules. Patients and Methods: A total of 91 adults with normal glycemia, prediabetes, and T2D were included. After measuring their anthropometric and biochemical parameters, subcutaneous adipose tissues were isolated and mRNA expression of biomarkers was measured. Results: In individuals with normal glycemia, adipose tissue ST2 was directly correlated with chemokine (C-C motif) ligand (CCL)-2, CCL5, IL-12, fibrinogen-like protein 2 (FGL2) and interferon regulatory factor (IRF)-4, but inversely correlated with cytochrome C oxidase subunit 7A1. IL-33 and ST2 were directly correlated with tumor necrosis factor receptorassociated factor 6 (TRAF6), NF-kappa B, and nuclear factor of activated T-cells 5 (NFAT5). In individuals with prediabetes, ST2 was inversely correlated with IL-5, whereas IL-33 but not ST2 was directly correlated with MyD88 and NF-kappa B. In individuals with T2D, ST2 was directly correlated with CCL2, IL-1 beta, and IRF5. IL-33 and ST2 were directly correlated with MyD88, TRAF6, and NF-kappa B. Conclusion: Adipose tissue ST2 and IL-33 show different correlation profiles with various immunometabolic biomarkers depending on the metabolic state of the individuals. Therefore, targeting the IL-33/ST2 axis might form the basis for novel therapies to combat metabolic disorders.Peer reviewe
