    Specific morphological features of the uterus of the coypu (Myocastor coypus)

    La morfología de los órganos tubulares del aparato reproductor de las hembras del coipo difiere de las de otras especies de mamíferos, ya que presenta un útero doble. El objetivo de este trabajo fue ampliar los conocimientos sobre la morfología del útero del coipo en la madurez sexual mediante la identificación y caracterización de rasgos específicos de los cuernos uterinos y del segmento de transición útero- cervical. Se analizaron 18 úteros procesados mediante técnicas histológicas de rutina. El análisis de los cortes seriados permitió identificar una proyección de la mucosa hacia craneal de la pared uterina en el segmento de las uniones útero-tubáricas, un pliegue mucoso longitudinal incompleto en el lumen craneal de los cuernos uterinos, numerosos fondos de saco parietales, pliegues transversales del endometrio y la presencia de un segmento de transición útero-cervical. El útero del coipo presenta diferenciaciones morfológicas que lo asemejan a otros animales y rasgos microanatómicos específicos.The coypu has a double uterus, and therefore presents anatomical differences from other mammals in the reproductive tract. The objective of this work was to expand knowledge about the morphology of the uterus of the coypu in sexual maturity by identifying and characterizing specific features of the uterine horns and the transition zone of the uterine cervix. Eighteen uteri were analyzed by routine histological techniques. Analysis of the serial sections allowed identification of a cranial projection of the uterine wall in the segment of the utero-tubal junctions, an incomplete longitudinal mucosal fold in the cranial lumen of the uterine horns, numerous parietal cul-de-sac and transverse folds of the endometrium, and the presence of a uterus-cervical transition segment. The uterus of the coypu presents morphological differences similar to those of other animals and specific microanatomical features.Facultad de Ciencias Veterinaria

    Multifrequency microwave radiometry for characterizing the Internal temperature of biological tissues

    The analysis of near-field radiometry is described for characterizing the internal temperature of biological tissues, for which a system based on multifrequency pseudo-correlation-type radiometers is proposed. The approach consists of a new topology with multiple output devices that enables real-time calibration and performance assessment, recalibrating the receiver through simultaneous measurable outputs. Experimental characterization of the prototypes includes a welldefined calibration procedure, which is described and demonstrated, as well as DC conversion from the microwave input power. Regarding performance, high sensitivity is provided in all the bands with noise temperatures around 100 K, reducing the impact of the receiver on the measurements and improving its sensitivity. Calibrated temperature retrievals exhibit outstanding results for several noise sources, for which temperature deviations are lower than 0.1% with regard to the expected temperature. Furthermore, a temperature recovery test for biological tissues, such as a human forearm, provides temperature values on the order of 310 K.     Analysis and performance assessment of a real-time correction pseudo-correlation microwave radiometer for medical applications

    A new configuration of a pseudo-correlation type radiometer is proposed for a microwave biomedical application, such as diabetic foot neuropathy. The new approach as well as its simulated performance are thoroughly assessed using commercial off-the-shelf components and custom designed subsystems. We configured a pseudo-correlation receiver, centred at 3.5 GHz, to validate the proposal, comparing its simulated response with a measured alternative based on a 90º hybrid coupler pseudo-correlation prototype. We custom designed a balanced Wilkinson power divider and a 180º hybrid coupler to fulfil the receiver's requirements. The proposed configuration demonstrated an improved noise temperature response. The main advantage is to enable the recalibration of the receiver through simultaneous measurable output signals, proportional to each input signal, as well as the correlated response between them.This research was funded by the IACTEC Technological Training program, grant number TF INNOVA 2016-202

    Uma experiência prática de oralidade no ensino universitário de ciências morfológicas

    Orality constitutes not only a communicative competence, but a support of reading and writing processes, and therefore the teaching and learning processes. In order to stimulate the development of communicative abilities, orality guides were incorporated in the Histology, Embryology and Teratology course, in veterinary medicine undergraduate program of the University of the Center of the Buenos Aires Province, with images of models and microphotographs of animals development, and histological sections of tissues and organs in a Power Point presentation. The aim of this article is to describe the characteristics and implementation of this proposal during 2017, and teachers and students perceptions.La oralidad constituye no sólo una competencia de comunicación, sino también de apoyo a los procesos de lectura y escritura, y por ende a los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje. Para estimular el desarrollo de habilidades comunicativas, incorporamos en el curso de Histología, Embriología y Teratología, de la carrera de Medicina Veterinaria de la UNCPBA (Tandil), guías de oralidad con imágenes de maquetas y microfotografías del desarrollo de aves y mamíferos, y de preparaciones histológicas de tejidos y órganos en formato PowerPoint. El objetivo de este trabajo es describir las características y la implementación de la propuesta durante el año 2017, y la percepción de docentes y estudiantes sobre la misma.A oralidade não é apenas uma competência de comunicação, mas também um suporte para os processos de leitura e escrita nos processos de ensino e aprendizagem.
