Conceptual perspective of value for the client: a strategy for market expansion
This article aims to analyze the conceptual perspective of value for the client as a strategy of market expansion. The research is the result of a literature review, followed by an exploratory analysis of the publications carried out in the last decade on the concept of value theme based on Woodruff's proposal (1997), which presents a new philosophy for the definition of Value. Thus, the present study, from the perspective of a theoretical essay, addresses the question of value and its contextualization’s, where the concept of value is emphasized according to the theoretical marketing framework. In addition, the possible uses of value in marketing activities were highlighted, such as: market analysis and segmentation, positioning, planning and development of products and brands and communication strategy
Results of socio-environmental strategies and pratices in flexographic processes
This study aims to identify the results of social and environmental sustainability strategies in flexographic printing processes of labels and labels. The research consisted of a literature review, followed by an exploratory-descriptive study of qualitative nature. Data collection took place in a primary way through a semi-structured on-site interview with the company's owner, and also involved access to documents. In conclusion, the article analyzes the results of two years in relation to social and environmental practices and the identification of sustainability practices obtained in the company
The management of innovation to generate added value in the flexographic processes: a case study in the company suppry etiquetas
The present study has as its theme the management of innovation to generate added value in flexographic processes, being delimited in the analysis of the processes of the company Suppry Etiquetas. It is questioned how innovation management can generate added value in the flexographic processes of the company Suppry Etiquetas. The objective was to understand how innovation management can generate added value in the company's processes. Methodologically, the research was characterized as an exploratory case study, with the data being analyzed qualitatively. Data collection occurred through a literature review in books, magazines, and on site, with a semi-structured interview with the company owner, with the application of a questionnaire containing 7 questions. As main results of the research we highlight that the innovations of processes all of them represented some kind of cost reduction, and implementation of the program 5s, being this very important for the organization of the company. In the innovation of products in addition to the two new products that started to be produced by the company, it is worth mentioning resale items that had an increase of 57,07% in revenue, after the realization of a change of strategy
Jerusalem artichoke as low-cost fructose-rich feedstock for fossil fuels desulphurization by a fructophilic bacterium
Aims: Through biodesulphurization (BDS) is possible to remove the sulphur present in fossil fuels to carry out the very strict legislation. However, this biological process is limited by the cost of the culture medium, and thus, it is important to explore cheaper alternative carbon sources, such as Jerusalem artichoke (JA). These carbon sources usually contain sulphates which interfere with the BDS process. The goal of this work was to remove the sulphates from Jerusalem artichoke juice (JAJ) through BaCl2 precipitation viewing the optimization of dibenzothiophene (DBT) desulphurization by Gordonia alkanivorans strain 1B.
Methods and Results: Using a statistical design (Doehlert distribution), the effect of BaCl2 concentration (0·125–0·625%) and pH (5–9) was studied on sulphate concentration in hydrolysed JAJ. A validated surface response derived from data indicated that zero sulphates can be achieved with 0·5–0·55% (w/v) BaCl2 at pH 7; however, parallel BDS assays showed that the highest desulphurization was obtained with the juice treated with 0·5% (w/v) BaCl2 at pH 8·73. Further assays demonstrated that enhanced DBT desulphurization was
achieved using hydrolysed JAJ treated in these optimal conditions. A total conversion of 400 µmol l-1 DBT into 2-hydroxybiphenyl (2-HBP) in <90 h was observed, attaining a 2-HBP maximum production rate of 28·2 µmol l-1 h-1 and a specific production rate of 5·06 µmol-1 g-1(DCW) h-1.
Conclusions: These results highlight the efficacy of the treatment applied to JAJ in making this agromaterial a promising low-cost renewable feedstock for improved BDS by the fructophilic strain 1B.
Significance and Impact of the Study: This study is a fundamental step viewing BDS application at the industrial level as it accounts a cost-effective production of the biocatalysts, one of the main drawbacks for BDS scale-up
The weight of ideology on the attitude of Latin American countriestoward the United States
The article tests the effect of ideology on the attitude of Latin American countries toward the United States, as well as alternative explanations, to respond to the expectation that left-wing governments are critical of the US and right-wing governments are friendly. The findings are that the alternative explanations are less relevant and that ideology has the expected effect
The Role of Information Systems in Human Resource Management
Over the last years, human resource management (HRM) has experienced significant transformations. The focus has passed from the administrative management tasks to becoming a strategic partner of the overall organization strategy, largely with the strong support of information technologies’ evolution in this field of knowledge area. The extended use of information systems has a deep effect in the way HRM is managed nowadays. It boosted a major transformation of human resources (HR) processes and practices within organizations, namely on how they collect, store, use, and share information. Several HRM processes have become more efficient and the impact of this service level improvement allowed a greater involvement of HR in the business strategy. This new role in business strategy adds significant changes to HR function and to its professionals. Along this chapter, we discuss the effects of information systems in HRM, considering the existing literature on the topic, and describe the benefits and possible limitations of using them. We also provide an overview of some applications of technology in functional areas of HRM, within organizations
Descritores da atividade antimalarial de derivados de febrifugina obtidos via mecânica qüântica
Plasmodium falciparum resistant strain development has encouraged the search for new antimalarial drugs. Febrifugine is a natural substance with high activity against P. falciparum presenting strong emetic property and liver toxicity, which prevent it from being used as a clinical drug. The search for analogues that could have a better clinical performance is a current topic. We aim to investigate the theoretical electronic structure by means of febrifugine derivative family semi-empirical molecular orbital calculations, seeking the electronic indexes that could help the design of new efficient derivatives. The theoretical results show there is a clustering in well-defined ranges of several electronic indexes of the most selective molecules. The model proposed for achieving high selectivity was tested with success.O desenvolvimento de linhagens resistentes de Plasmodium falciparum tem encorajado a busca por novas drogas antimalariais.
