    An egg-shell bifunctional CeO2-modified NiPd/Al2O3 catalyst for petrochemical processes involving selective hydrogenation and hydroisomerization

    The catalytic performance during the 1-butyne hydrogenation using two reduced Al2O3-supported Pd-based catalysts was carried out in a total recirculation system with an external fixed-bed reactor. The lab-prepared egg-shell NiPd/CeO2-Al2O3 catalyst (NiPdCe) with Pd loading = 0.5 wt%, Ni/Pd atomic ratio = 1 and CeO2 loading = 3 wt% was synthesized and characterized, and it was compared with an egg-shell Al2O3-supported Pd based commercial catalyst (PdCC). The reduced catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The textural characteristics and ammonia temperature-programmed desorption profiles of the fresh (unreduced) catalysts were also obtained. Both catalysts show high 1-butyne conversion and selectivity to 1-butene, but the catalysts also present important differences between hydroisomerizing and hydrogenating capabilities. NiPdCe catalyst shows higher capability for hydroisomerization reactions, while the PdCC catalyst exhibits higher hydrogenating capability. The observed catalytic performances can be interesting for some industrial processes and can provide a guideline for the development of a Pd-based catalyst with specific catalytic properties.Fil: Méndez, Franklin J..     Exactly Solvable Hydrogen-like Potentials and Factorization Method

    A set of factorization energies is introduced, giving rise to a generalization of the Schr\"{o}dinger (or Infeld and Hull) factorization for the radial hydrogen-like Hamiltonian. An algebraic intertwining technique involving such factorization energies leads to derive nn-parametric families of potentials in general almost-isospectral to the hydrogen-like radial Hamiltonians.     Prefacing unexplored archives from Central Andean surface-to-bedrock ice cores through a multifaceted investigation of regional firn and ice core glaciochemistry.

    Shallow firn cores, in addition to a near-basal ice core, were recovered in 2018 from the Quelccaya ice cap (5470 m a.s.l) in the Cordillera Vilcanota, Peru, and in 2017 from the Nevado Illimani glacier (6350 m a.s.l) in the Cordillera Real, Bolivia. The two sites are ~450 km apart. Despite meltwater percolation resulting from warming, particle-based trace element records (e.g. Fe, Mg, K) in the Quelccaya and Illimani shallow cores retain well-preserved signals. The firn core chronologies, established independently by annual layer counting, show a convincing overlap indicating the two records contain comparable signals and therefore capture similar regional scale climatology. Trace element records at a ~1?4 cm resolution provide past records of anthropogenic emissions, dust sources, volcanic emissions, evaporite salts and marine-sourced air masses. Using novel ultra-high-resolution (120 ?m) laser technology, we identify annual layer thicknesses ranging from 0.3 to 0.8 cm in a section of 2000-year-old radiocarbon-dated near-basal ice which compared to the previous annual layer estimates suggests that Quelccaya ice cores drilled to bedrock may be older than previously suggested by depth-age models. With the information collected from this study in combination with past studies, we emphasize the importance of collecting new surface-to-bedrock ice cores from at least the Quelccaya ice cap, in particular, due to its projected disappearance as soon as the 2050s

    Analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities of salicylaldehyde 2-chlorobenzoyl hydrazone (H2LASSBio-466), salicylaldehyde 4-chlorobenzoyl hydrazone (H 2LASSBio-1064) and their zinc(II) complexes

    Salicylaldehyde 2-chlorobenzoyl hydrazone (H 2LASSBio-466), salicylaldehyde 4-chlorobenzoyl hydrazone (H 2LASSBio-1064) and their complexes [Zn(LASSBio- 466)H 2O] 2 (1) and [Zn(HLASSBio-1064)Cl] 2 (2) were evaluated in animal models of peripheral and central nociception, and acute inflammation. All studied compounds significantly inhibited acetic acid-induced writhing response. Upon coordination the antinociceptive activity was favored in the complex 1. H 2LASSBio-466 inhibited only the first phase of the formalin test, while 1 was active in the second phase, like indomethacin, indicating its ability to inhibit nociception associated with the inflammatory response. Hence coordination to zinc(II) altered the pharmacological profile of H 2LASSBio-466. H2LASSBio-1064 inhibited both phases but this effect was not improved by coordination. The studied compounds did not increase the latency of response in the hot plate model, indicating their lack of central anti-nociceptive activity. All compounds showed levels of inhibition of zymosan-induced peritonitis comparable or superior to indomethacin, indicating an expressive anti-inflammatory profile.Facultad de Ciencias Exacta
