Geographical distribution of Austrolebias monstrosus (Huber 1995), A. elongatus (Steindachner 1881) and A. vandenbergi(Huber 1995) (Teleostei: Cyprinodontiformes), with comments on the biogeography and ecology of Rivulidae in Pampasic and Chaco floodplains

After several collecting trips in Argentina and a revision of material deposited in national ichthyological collections we present a new record for Austrolebias elongatus from Gualeguaychú, in Entre Ríos Province, Argentina. Also, we present evidence on the erroneous record of Austrolebias monstrosus, and A. vandenbergi from Ituzaingó, Corrientes Province. Additional records from Salta Province are presented for those species. Material determined as A. elongatus from Santiago del Estero is also attributed to A. monstrosus. Therefore we restrict the distribution of these two species to Semi-arid Chaco Region in Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia.Fil: Alonso, Felipe. Profiling Spanish Prospective Buyers of Electric Vehicles Based on Demographics

p. 1-22As traffic congestion and air pollution rise at alarming rates in many cities worldwide, new smart technologies are emerging to meet the urban mobility challenge. In addition, utomotive firms have transformed their business models to make them more sustainable and to adjust to demand response. Electric vehicles (EVs) represent a viable option to reduce ecological damage and improve public health. However, in the previous literature, no consensus has been reached on the profile of prospective buyers of EVs. Based on a large-scale sample of Spanish citizens and using cluster analysis, our study provides a better understanding of the demographics of such prospective buyers. We identified four types of EV prospective buyers. Our results show that although men have a strong preference for EVs, low-income older women prove to be the most EV-aware group; their automotive driving experience and concern for sustainability could be among the underlying causes of this particular interest. Another valuable insight is the greater partiality of older people for EVs. These findings have many implications for managers, especially in the automotive industry, policymakers, and sustainability strategists. They show that EV prospective buyers should not be approached as a homogeneous group but as a heterogeneous group with different socio-demographic characteristics that might help decision-makers make better business decision.S

Effects of the synthetic vasopressin analog desmopressin in a mouse model of colon cancer

Experimental and clinical data indicated that perioperative administration of the hemostatic peptide desmopressin (DDAVP) can inhibit progression of residual metastatic cells. The compound seems to act by inducing an agonist effect on specific V2 vasopressin membrane receptors present in both tumor cells and endothelial cells. Here we explored the antitumor effects of DDAVP in cultured colon carcinoma cells and in a syngeneic Balb/c mouse model. Both human Colo-205 and mouse CT-26 colon carcinoma cell lines expressed the V2 receptor, as revealed by immunofluorescence. DDAVP (at doses ranging from 100 ng/ml to 1 μg/ml) exerted a modest but significant antiproliferative effect on cultured CT26 and Colo-205 cells. In vivo, DDAVP (2 intravenous doses of 2 μg/kg) reduced accumulation of ascites and formation of intestinal tumor nodules in mice intraperitoneally inoculated with CT-26 cells. Perioperative administration of DDAVP significantly inhibited tumor progression in animals surgically implanted in the spleen with CT-26 cells, and caused some reduction in liver metastasis. Although DDAVP and 5- fluorouracil demonstrated additive cytostatic effects in vitro, no antitumor effects were observed in this study in mice receiving a single cycle of chemotherapy (25 mg/kg) in combination with the peptide. Our data suggest that DDAVP may be potentially used to minimize spread or survival of residual malignant cells during surgical procedures for colon and other gastrointestinal tumors.Fil: Ripoll, Giselle Vanina. First record of <i>Gymnogeophagus terrapurpura</i> (Teleostei: Cichliformes) from Argentina

The genus Gymnogeophagus Miranda Ribeiro 1918 is a diverse genus of geophagin Neotropical cichlids with 1 fossil (Malabarba et al., 2010) and 17 extant species (Malabarba et al., 2015; Loureiro et al., 2016). Species of this genus are endemic to the La Plata basin, the Laguna dos Patos/Merím system, and rio Tramandaí drainage (Malabarba et al., 2015) with one record of G. balzanii in the headwaters of the Guaporé river in the Amazon basin (Lowe-McConnell, 1975). This genus is diagnosed by the presence of a forward-directed spine on top of the first dorsal-fin pterygiophore and by the absence of bony supraneurals (Gosse, 1976). Recently, Gymnogeophagus terrapurpura Loureiro, Zarucki, Malabarba & González-Bergonzoni, 2016 was described as a member of the substrate brooding Gymnogeophagus-rhabdotus-group from the East of the lower Uruguay river basin, the Eastern coastal affluents of the Río de la Plata estuary, and affluents of the Atlantic Ocean in Uruguay. The aim of this work is to report the occurrence of this species in Argentina in tributaries of the Uruguay river near the city of Colón in Entre Ríos province. As part of a revision of the genus Gymnogeophagus from Argentina, we examined existing collection specimens from the San Benito creek and recently collected fresh material from the Perucho Verna and the La Leche creeks, which have been identified as Gymnogeophagus terrapurpura (fig. 1-5).Instituto de Limnología "Dr. Raúl A. La educación musical media y superior en México: Un estudio sociológico de experiencias de agentes en el campo laboral

Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar sistemáticamente información proveniente de narrativas compartidas por profesionales que trabajan en la pedagogía, administración o investigación de la educación musical media y superior, en diferentes contextos geoculturales de México, desde una perspectiva micro-macro, a partir de conceptos, teorías, en interacciones en grupos focales en un taller sociológico. El propósito de la investigación es, por una parte, generar un insumo para docentes, autoridades educativas en instituciones federales, privadas, de educación media y superior, para identificar problemáticas y soluciones en el ámbito de la educación musical.
