    Get PDF
In this note we consider the point-wise summability of Fourier series in the Norlund sense by extending a theorem of Lebesgue [ 6 ] . We also consider analogous theorems of our extension to derived Fourier series, and conjugate Fourier series. We finally prove some general theorem on the above topic

These permissions are granted for the duration of the World Health Organization (WHO) declaration of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. The emergence of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in 2012 brought back memories of the occurrence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) in 2002. More than 1500 MERS-CoV cases were recorded in 42 months with a case fatality rate (CFR) of 40%. Meanwhile, 8000 cases of SARS-CoV were confirmed in six months with a CFR of 10%. The clinical presentation of MERS-CoV ranges from mild and non-specific presentation to progressive and severe pneumonia. No predictive signs or symptoms exist to differentiate MERS-CoV from community-acquired pneumonia in hospitalized patients. An apparent heterogeneity was observed in transmission. Most MERS-CoV cases were secondary to large outbreaks in healthcare settings. These cases were secondary to community-acquired cases, which may also cause family outbreaks. Travel-associated MERS infection remains low. However, the virus exhibited a clear tendency to cause large outbreaks outside the Arabian Peninsula as exemplified by the outbreak in the Republic of Korea. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge about MERS-CoV and highlight travel-related issues

Thermodynamic and Kinetic Study of the Adsorption of Pb (II) from Aqueous Solution Using Bentonite and Activated Carbon

    Get PDF
The adsorption of Pb(II) ions onto bentonite and activated carbon was investigated. The effects of pH, initial adsorbent dosage, contact time and temperature were studied in batch experiments. The maximum adsorption capacities for bentonite and activated carbon were 0.0364 and 0.015 mg/mg, respectively. Thermodynamic parameters such as Gibbs free energy change, Enthalpy change and Entropy change have been calculated. These thermodynamic parameters indicated that the adsorption process was thermodynamically spontaneous under natural conditions and the adsorption was endothermic in nature. Experimental data were also tested in terms of adsorption kinetics, the results showed that the adsorption processes followed well pseudo second- order kinetics

Rare presentation of an ulnar artery aneurysm in a six-month-old baby: Case discussion

    Get PDF
Ulnar artery aneurysm cases have been rarely reported in the literature previously. A number of these cases occur in the adult population and are mostly occupational associated. In children, however, this condition is much less. Only 10 cases in children have been reported in the literature to the best of our knowledge, and the minimum age was 1 year. The etiology is mainly post-traumatic. We present a case for discussion of an ulnar artery aneurysm in a 6-month-old baby with the habit of hitting his hand against a table and the floor

Exon: An oblivious exactly-once messaging protocol

    Get PDF
TCP is typically the default transport protocol of choice for its supposed reliability, even for message-oriented middleware (e.g., ZeroMQ) or inter-actor communication (e.g., distributed Erlang). However, under network issues, TCP con-nections can fail, which requires ensuring both at-least-once and at-most-once delivery at the upper middleware layer. Moreover, the use of TCP at scale, in highly concurrent systems, can lead to drastic performance loss due to the need for TCP connection multiplexing and the resulting head-of-line blocking. This paper introduces Exon, an oblivious exactly-once messaging protocol, and a corresponding lightweight library implementation. Exon uses a novel strategy of a per-message four-way protocol to ensure oblivious exactly-once messaging, with on-demand protocol-level 'soft half-connections' that are established when needed and safely discarded. This achieves correctness, obliviousness, and performance, through merging and pipelining basic protocol mes-sages. The empirical evaluation of Exon demonstrates significant improvements in throughput and latency under packet loss, while maintaining a negligible overhead over TCP in healthy networks.Partially funded by project AIDA – Adaptive, Intelligent and Distributed Assurance Platform (POCI-01-0247-FEDER045907) co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalisation (COMPETE 2020) and by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under CMU Portugal

    Get PDF
Objective: To investigate the prevalence and characteristics of supernumerary teeth among patients attending the students' dental clinics at the Faculty of Dentistry of the Arab American University, Jenin, Palestine. Material and Methods: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective study of 1970 digital panoramic radiographs of patients, age ranging between 12 and 50 years. The radiographs and dental records were reviewed for supernumerary teeth. For each patient with supernumerary teeth, were recorded the demographic variables, number, location, eruption status, type, and morphology, the developmental stages. Descriptive statistics were performed and results were tabulated. Results: Supernumerary teeth were detected in 17 subjects (0.86%), of which 13 were males and 4 were females with a male to female ratio of 3.25:1. Of the 17 patients, 64.7% had one supernumerary tooth while the others had two. The majority (78.3%) of the supernumeraries were located in the maxilla. Around 56.5% of the supernumeraries found in this study were located in the premaxilla. Half of the supernumeraries (52.2%) were erupted, and 47.8% were impacted. Mesiodens was the most frequently seen supernumerary teeth followed by distomolars and premolars. Most of the supernumeraries were fully developed, while 21.7% displayed only crown formation. Conclusion: The prevalence of supernumerary teeth in the study sample was found to be 0.86% and the most frequent type was mesiodens. Supplemental morphology was found to be the most common form of supernumerary teeth

A NOVEL SPECIALIZED SEARCH ENGINE FOR AI-MODELS AND THEIR COMPARISON

    Get PDF
In recent years, the world of AI has tremendously increased in size and depth. Both new and old researchers are facing the problem of fast emerging AI researches, models and services. One needs to continuously read complete papers to understand the idea behind any novel research. This work presents a novel AI service that removes the burdens of long text reading and uncategorized search. It consists of a website that categorizes all the AI researches in a well-designed database. The users just have to select the models they are interested in, and the website will return a table containing the technical data in addition to a graph that shows visual relationships between the AI models, features and datasets. Future work will emphasize on developing the tool by applying NLP in two directions: one on the search box to retrieve the main keyword to search for, and the other on research papers to automatically extract the data into the website categorized database

Life beyond distributed transactions on the edge

Edge/Fog Computing is an extension to the Cloud Computing model, primarily proposed to pull some of the load on cloud data center towards the edge of the network, i.e., closer to the clients. Despite being a promising model, the foundations to adopt and fully exploit the edge model are yet to be clear, and thus new ideas are continuously advocated. In his paper on \Life beyond Distributed Transactions: An Apostate's Opinion", Pat Helland proposed his vision to build\almost innite" scale future applications, demonstrating why Distributed Transactions are not very practical under scale. His approach models the applications data state as independent \entities" with separate serialization scopes, thus allowing ecient local transactions within an entity, but precluding transactions involving dierent entities. Accessing remote data (which is assumed rare) can be done through separate channels in a more message-oriented manner. In this paper, we recall Helland's vision in the aforementioned paper, explaining how his model ts the Edge Computing Model either regarding scalability, applications, or assumptions, and discussing the potential challenges leveraged .Project “TEC4Growth - Pervasive Intelligence, Enhancers and Proofs of Concept with Industrial Impact/NORTE-01-0145-FEDER-000020”is financed by the North Portugal Regional Operational Programme (NORTE 2020), under the PORTUGAL 2020 Partnership Agreement, and through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
