The growing importance of Information System (IS) to support business operation demands for adequate IS planning.Good IS planning enables organizations to closely align the IS and strategic business objectives.Such alignment ultimately ensures organizations to gain competitive advantages from IS-related investment.Despite extensive works to understand SISP practices in large organizations, works are still limited in the context of Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs).This issue is worth further investigation in view of the increasing importance of IS to support many facets of the SMEs operation.More importantly, due to inherent resource constraints among SMEs to invest in IS, top management commitment as well as user participation in IS planning activities are getting more crucial. This study, therefore proposes a framework to assess the effect of top management commitment and user participation on SISP success. The findings are of relevance for firm’s top management in ensuring SISP success

The effect of dolomite addition onto the phases and hardness of zirconia toughened alumina

    Get PDF
Zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA) is one of the composite ceramics that are widely use in load bearing and wear resistant applications. The composite is known for their good hardness and toughness, due to the presence of both Al2O3 and yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ). The enhance toughness for ZTA are mostly originated from the presence of YSZ in the composite. The phase transformation from tetragonal to monoclinic that happen inside of YSZ during the presence of stress and increase its toughness. Thus, the amount of tetragonal and monoclinic phase inside of YSZ are critital to its toughness. In this research, the amount of dolomite was varied from 0 to 1.0 wt % while ratio of Al2O3 to YSZ were fixed to 4:1. The sample were prepared through the solid-state sintering method. XRD was done onto the sample to analyze the phases. XRD analysis shows that no presence of new compound in ZTA system. With addition 0.3 wt% of dolomite, Vickers hardness reached maximum of 1842.75HV

Drying chamber is a drying application for agriculture product to produce high quality and hygiene product. The purpose of this paper is to propose best configuration trays arrangement in drying chamber for better distribution of velocity and temperature. Therefore, five configurations of trays are analyzed to obtain the best performance of uniformity air flow distribution within drying chamber. CFD simulation studied the uniform air flow in the drying chamber in steady state condition. A validation is performed by comparing the data obtained from the literature review CFD simulation to ensure the methodology is correct. Then, the drying chamber with different trays arrangements are simulated using CFD simulations to obtain velocity and temperature distributions at nine plotted points on trays. From the results obtained, it concluded that design (A) and (D) are selected as the best designs for uniformity because there is less discrepancy for each point contributed the more uniformity of distribution

Effects of crumb rubber and styrene-butadiene rubber additives on the properties of asphalt binder and the Marshall performance properties of asphalt mixtures

    Get PDF
The primary aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of incorporating crumb rubber (CR) and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) additives, ranging from 0% to 5% by weight of bitumen, on the performance of a bituminous concrete mixture using the wet process. Laboratory experiments, including the Marshall test, were conducted to establish the optimum bitumen content (OBC) for the hot mix. The study focuses on determining the optimal proportions of CR and SBR to achieve maximum strength. The results show that increasing the proportions of both CR and SBR leads to significant improvements in strength, with the maximum stability recorded at 16.14 kN and a flow of 1.23 mm for a mix containing 5% CR and 4% SBR. The findings further suggest an inverse relationship between CR content and strength, while an increasing SBR content enhances strength. Consequently, the optimal proportions for incorporating CR and SBR additives are identified as 5% and 4%, respectively

The development of the automobile industry in Malaysia has been very encouraging in the past years. Anyhow, this industry is confined to technology follower rather than technology leader. Thus the purpose of the project is to contribute positively to the whole process of automotive development in Malaysia. The advancement of automobile has continuously demanded more engine power requirement and thus, has increased the thermal load of the cooling system. In response to this, concern has been given to the cooling system efficiency improvement. To understand the effects of cooling system on the performance of the engine, the heat characteristics of cooling system were studied with different cooling temperatures. This range of temperatures, results in variations of engine performance, particularly the engine emission level. Engine hydrocarbon emissions increased as the coolant temperature decreases and therefore the importance of coolant temperature on the engine performance could not be neglected. As for the cooling system study, new cooling pump impellers have been designed. Series of experiments were carried out to determine the performance of the impellers as part of a water pump and also its influence to the engine performance. The new impellers produced 17% increase in the water pump efficiency. Since cooling water pump is operated by the engine itself, the efficiency improvement will therefore increase the engine efficiency by 6% or approximately 0.85kW in power gain for a 1.5 litre engine. Manufacturing study was also carried out to ensure the cost of the new impellers is within the marketing value, thus to improve its demand over conventional impeller

INTAKE ANALYSIS ON FOUR-STROKE ENGINE USING CFD

Flow patterns are vital to ensure that the engine can produce high performance with the presence of swirl and tumble inside the cylinder. In this paper, the simulation of air is simulated in the software to predict the flow pattern using the steady state pressure based solver at two different planes in the engine domain. The domain used for the simulation is based on the actual engine parameters. Using the commercial CFD solver ANSYS FLUENT, the CFD simulation is run under five different piston positions and seven different engine speeds. Note that in this simulation, only intake strokes are simulated. The results show the velocity of the flow is high during the sweep as the intake stroke takes place. This situation is believed to produce more swirl and tumble during the compression, hence enhancing the burning rate in an entire region of the clearance volume. The result shows that both for plane A-A and plane B-B, the highest velocity vector occurs when the engine speed at 4500 rpm with piston position at 45 degree. This will initiate to the production of tumble and swirl in the engine cylinder
