New species of Tetradiplosis (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) inducing galls on Prosopis caldenia (Fabaceae) in Argentina
Two new species of Tetradiplosis inducing galls on Prosopis caldenia are described from Argentina: Tetradiplosis panghitruz Martínez n. sp. and Tetradiplosis rayen Martínez n. sp. Tetradiplosis panghitruz induces multilocular galls on vegetative stems, whereas T. rayen induces unilocular galls containing multiple larvae on the rachis of the developing inflorescences. Cultural Representations in Irish Immigrants and Their Descendants in "Tréboles del Sur" by Juan José Delaney
Prospects of better living conditions attracted thousands of Irish emigrants to Argentina between 1830 and 1930. In a hopeful attempt to redefine their lives, the newcomers contributed to the formation of the identity and the progress of our country. Although they were far away from their homeland, most Irish-born people kept strong ties with their land and relatives back in Ireland. Tréboles del Sur (2014 [1994]) by contemporary Irish-Argentine writer Juan José Delaney, is a collection of short stories which recount the life of Irish immigrants in Argentina and their descendants, ranging from the 1870s until 1983. This article aims at analyzing the representation of cultural aspects in those Irish immigrants. Stuart Hall’s concepts of representation, cultural identity and diasporic subjects, Raymond Williams’ concept of culture and the notion of cultural hybridity introduced by García Canclini are taken into account for the study. Our analysis is restricted to some of the fictional characters in Delaney’s work. La cohesión más allá de la clase de gramática
La Gramática Sistémico Funcional (GSF) considera al lenguaje como un “potencial de significación” (Halliday, 1978, p. 27), y estudia la forma en la que los usuarios de una lengua construyen significados en un contexto social y en una situación comunicacional particular, para lo cual explotan recursos lingüísticos concretos. Como docentes de Gramática Inglesa I y de Lengua Inglesa I del Profesorado y Licenciaturas de Inglés en la UNLPam., enseñamos la lengua inglesa teniendo en cuenta la relación entre los factores y los procesos léxico-gramaticales y su significación en un contexto determinado, y nos concentramos en los mecanismos para lograr cohesión entre cláusulas, oraciones y párrafos (Halliday and Hasan, 1976). El propósito de este trabajo es mostrar que el estudio en detalle de recursos cohesivos en Gramática Inglesa I, siguiendo los postulados de la GSF, contribuye a mejorar la producción de textos narrativos coherentes en Lengua Inglesa I. En este análisis de caso consideramos elementos con propiedad referencial y léxicos, así como conectores textuales para lograr cohesión. Para este estudio utilizamos fragmentos narrativos extraídos de cuentos que se incluyen en Lengua Inglesa I en los que se analizan los recursos cohesivos presentes y su implicancia en el significado, así como en la organización general del texto. Concluimos que la producción escrita de los estudiantes mejora considerablemente cuando son conscientes de los recursos cohesivos que pueden emplear
Biodiversity of cultivable Burkholderia species in Argentinean soils under no-till agricultural practices
No-tillage crop production has revolutionized the agriculture worldwide. In our country more than 30 Mha are currently cultivated under no-till schemes, stressing the importance of this management system for crop production. It is widely recognized that soil microbiota is altered under different soil managements. In this regard the structure of Burkholderia populations is affected by soils management practices such as tillage, fertilization, or crop rotation. The stability of these structures, however, has not been evaluated under sustainable schemes where the impact of land practices could be less deleterious to physicochemical soils characteristics. In order to assess the structure of Burkholderia spp. populations in no-till schemes, culturable Burkholderia spp. strains were quantified and their biodiversity evaluated. Results showed that Burkholderia spp. biodiversity, but not their abundance, clearly displayed a dependence on agricultural managements. We also showed that biodiversity was mainly influenced by two soil factors: Total Organic Carbon and Total Nitrogen. Results showed that no-till schemes are not per se sufficient to maintain a richer Burkholderia spp. soil microbiota, and additional traits should be considered when sustainability of productive soils is a goal to fulfil productive agricultural schemes.Instituto de Biotecnologia y Biologia MolecularCentro de Investigación y Desarrollo en Fermentaciones Industriale
Turismo, alfarería y trabajo femenino en el Pueblo Mágico de Metepec, México
The typical city of Metepec, in the State of Mexico, has become a cultural tourism destination mainly due to its pottery production. The purpose of this paper is to examine women’s work in pottery production and its relationship with tourism from a gender perspective. The research is ethnographic, exploratory and descrip‑ tive. Qualitative techniques were employed for data collection (participant observation and semi-structured interviews). Even though the majority of artisans in Metepec are male, women have adopted essential tasks in pottery production and participate actively in the sale of crafts for the tourism market. Women’s work is not always visible or socially recognized due to the prevailing gender dynamics and the differences in power within the family and community contexts. The research contributes to the body of knowledge on tourism and gender in Mexico and aims to make women’s contributions visible in local tourism contextsLa ciudad típica de Metepec, Estado de México, se ha convertido en un destino de turismo cultural debido a su producción alfarera. El objetivo del artículo es examinar el trabajo de las mujeres en la alfarería y su relación con el turismo de Metepec, desde la perspectiva de género. La investigación es etnográfica, de sondeo y descriptiva. Para la recogida de datos se emplearon técnicas cualitativas (observación participante, entrevistas semi-estructuradas). La mayoría de los alfareros en Metepec son varones; sin embargo, las mujeres han adoptado tareas esenciales para la producción de artesanías y la venta dirigida al mercado turístico. Estas aportaciones no son reconocidas socialmente debido a las dinámicas de género y a las diferencias de poder en los contextos familiar y comunitario. La investigación contribuye al conocimiento sobre turismo y género en México y visibiliza las aportaciones de las mujeres en los contextos turísticos locales
A política de admissão à carreira docente no México: Resultados de uma suposta adequação
As a consequence of the Mexican Educational Reform of 2013, the educational system allows the entry into teaching in presschools and primary schools to professionals without preservice teacher education, as long as they demonstrate their suitability through two large-scale tests. This article describes and analyzes the implementation of the tests used in the evaluation of admission to the professional teaching service at these educational levels, and in addition, presents empirical evidence of the results of the process of entering the teaching career as a basis to question the alleged suitability in the evaluation results, both nationally and in a federal entity in the northwest of the country. Two references are observed that define the suitability of the teaching performance. The first is an instrument called Profiles, Parameters and Indicators, which serves as a general ideal of what is expected by the teaching function. The second, the standards defined in the measurement process itself. The conclusion addresses the need to review the process of evaluation of the admission to the teaching career in Mexico, as well as to analyze the implications for the devaluation of the teaching profession and the desired educational quality that the entry of professionals without the appropriate training can bring.Como consecuencia de la Reforma Educativa Mexicana del año 2013, el sistema educativo permite el ingreso a la docencia en los niveles educativos de preescolar y primaria a profesionales sin formación docente, que demuestren su idoneidad mediante dos pruebas a gran escala. Este artículo describe y analiza la implementación de las pruebas utilizadas en la evaluación de ingreso al servicio profesional docente en estos niveles educativos, además, presenta evidencia empírica de los resultados del proceso de ingreso a la carrera docente como fundamento para poner en duda la supuesta idoneidad en los resultados de evaluación, tanto en el ámbito nacional como en el de una entidad federativa al noroeste del país. Describe dos referentes que se observan para definir la idoneidad del desempeño docente. El primero es un instrumento denominado Perfiles, Parámetros e Indicadores, que funge como un ideal general de lo esperado por la función docente. El segundo, son los estándares definidos en el proceso mismo de medición. La conclusión aborda la necesidad de revisar el proceso de evaluación del ingreso a la carrera docente en México, así como analizar las implicaciones para la desvalorización de la profesión docente y la anhelada calidad educativa que el ingreso de profesionales sin la formación adecuada puede traer aparejada.Como consequência da Reforma Educacional Mexicana de 2013, o sistema educacional permite a entrada no ensino nos níveis pré-escolar e primário de educação para profissionais sem formação de professores, desde que demonstrem sua adequação através de dois testes em grande escala. Este artigo descreve e analisa a implementação dos testes utilizados na avaliação da admissão ao serviço de ensino profissional nesses níveis educacionais, além disso, apresenta evidências empíricas dos resultados do processo de inserção na carreira docente como base para questionar a alegada adequação nos resultados da avaliação, tanto a nível nacional como em uma entidade federativa no noroeste do país. Ele descreve duas referências que são observadas para definir a adequação do desempenho do ensino. O primeiro do instrumento chamado Perfis, Parâmetros e Indicadores, que serve como um ideal geral do que é esperado pela função de ensino. O segundo, dos padrões definidos no próprio processo de medição. A conclusão aborda a necessidade de rever o processo de avaliação da admissão na carreira docente no México, bem como analisar as implicações para a desvalorização da profissão docente e a qualidade educacional desejada que a entrada dos profissionais sem o treinamento adequado pode trazer
