Methodical approaches to measuring sustainable development of industrial enterprises

The article is devoted to the problems of assessment of sustainable development at industrial enterprises with a dynamic scorecard based on growth rates of key performance indicators, arranged in the way allowing the evaluation of the sustainable development process when kept in the long time interval. The relative indicators allow comparing not only the incomparable values but also enterprises of different sizes. In addition the system allows comparing the results of current period to similar data from previous years, as well as to the results of other companies for the same period to determine their rating position or identify balance / imbalance. This system takes into account not only balanced state of environmental, economic and social spheres in particular time but also helps to reflect the positive changes in development process. Behavioral economics as a tool for adapting antitrust legislation to the digital transformation of society

Digitalization and the rapid development of society determine the need to adapt legislation and law enforcement practice to the requirements of the digital age. Antitrust policy is also changing and developing tools that allow timely response to the challenges of the digital economy. One such tool is behavioral economics, which is becoming increasingly important in today’s digital environment, and allows regulators to be flexible and contribute to the achievement of the main goals of competition law — to maintain a competitive state of the market and avoid the concentration of excessive power in the hands of one economic entity.The practice of applying behavioral economics by antitrust authorities is becoming more extensive, as there is a large pool of data in the digital environment, including information about consumers, which can be used by companies to influence users, as well as lead to unfair competition. Thus, the paper will study the issue of using behavioral economics in terms of consumer choice by antitrust authorities in order to identify possible behavioral insights of consumers that affect the correct establishment of product markets and the identification of competition law violations by companies.Applying the legal doctrinal approach, the descriptive method, and the comparative law method makes it possible to establish the issue’s relevance in different countries and the prospects and trajectories of the usage of behavioral economics in antitrust practice.As a result of the study, a global trend has been established in the application of behavioral economics by antitrust authorities both in determining the boundaries of commodity markets and in detecting violations of antitrust laws. It is concluded that the use of such a tool will continue, as it contributes to the timely adaptation of existing antitrust laws to the challenges of the digital age, contributes to the achievement of competition law goals, and creates a thriving competitive environment

The implementation of scenario planning approach in the volatile market: the case of the Russian insurance industry.

Scenario-based planning strategy is a highly complicated process which has become a new powerful tool allowing to construct the future strategy in the constantly changing environment. However, nowadays not only small companies, but big organisations as well do not use scenario planning efficiently. Another serious constraint in terms of implementation of scenario-based approach is a volatility in the market. The main research task is to investigate how scenarios’ activities, applications and examples could be implemented in the volatile insurance market in Russia. Using the best experience of scenario pioneers and the practice approach the research illustrates possible solutions and tools for successful implementation of scenario planning strategy. Moreover, the paper concentrates on the difference in approaches between organisations operating in the Russian insurance market and the regulators’ strategy. In the findings chapter the research looks into three subthemes: internal managers’ point of view, external specialists in the market vision and finally the regulator’s strategy. As a result, it identifies current market conditions affecting the performance of industry players, critiques of scenario planning in the Russian insurance companies and the role of Regulators in the market. This research identifies the main problems of scenario planning in the volatile market and the gap between companies and regulators’ strategy and demonstrates how important is to look closer at needed activities during scenario planning. Described approaches allow to implement scenario planning activities step by step even in the volatile market. The integration of scenarios and actions is the fundamental and the most difficult part of this cycle. The results of the findings reflect to the current market trends and bring additional advantages for the research. Moreover, it discovers an interconnection between market conditions and strategy development. The lack of competence and strategic thinking among the top managers of insurance companies also affected the market. The volatility in the market is a constraint in the way of scenario thinking strategy. However, the company, whatever its culture is, benefits from more robust planning and continuously improvement in the way of implementation of scenario thinking environment

The formation of a quasi-periodic surface profile by means of dislocation slip

This work presents the experimental results concerning the research of the morphology of the face-centered cubic (FCC) single crystals surface after compression deformation. Our aim is to identify the method of forming a quasiperiodic profile of single crystals with different crystal geometrical orientation. A set of modern methods as optical and confocal microscopy is applied. It is done to determine the morphology of surface parameters. The results show that the octahedral slip is an integral part of the formation of quasiperiodic profile surface and is starting with the initial strain. We present values of shear quantity directly in shear traces, meso- and macrobands and in shear tracks shift within them. The similarity of the process of surface profile forming at different levels of scale is given. Finally, we suppose that octahedral slip is the main way to form quasiperiodic deformation relief. We compare our results to published data and identify common regularities for various metal FCC single crystals with different deformation methods. The experimental results presented can be used for mathematical modeling of plastic deformation

Непараметрическая оценка деформационного рельефа

Настоящее исследование направлено на рассмотрение возможностей непараметрического подхода при оценке рельефа поверхности после пластической деформации. Данный метод заключается в использовании графиков функций, полученных на базе трехмерных топографий, в качестве критерия оценки поверхности. Анализ деформационного рельефа проводился на примере ГЦК монокристаллов никеля с различными вариантами кристаллографической ориентации оси сжатия и боковых граней. Образцы подвергались деформации сжатием при комнатной температуре, деформационный рельеф снимался при помощи сканирующей лазерной конфокальной микроскопии. В данной работе предлагается использовать непараметрические критерии (такие как функция плотности распределения ординат и автокорреляционная функция) для оценки и описания картины деформационного рельефа на поверхностях. Установлено, что для различных типов структурных элементов деформационного рельефа характерны свои оригинальные типы графиков функций плотности распределения ординат. С помощью автокорреляционной функции на примере ГЦК монокристаллов никеля показано, что организация следов сдвига в структурные элементы деформационного рельефа различного типа (мезо- и макрополосы, гофрированные структуры или складки) способствует увеличению размера области со взаимосогласованной деформацией. Кроме того, на основе анализа непараметрических критериев удалось идентифицировать наличие одного или нескольких типов структурных элементов рельефа на гранях монокристаллических образцов и показать их масштабную иерархию. При этом исходным или базовым структурным элементом деформационного рельефа являются следы сдвига. Таким образом, непараметрический (графический) подход может быть использован в качестве дополнительного инструмента при изучении рельефа поверхности деформированного тела.The present study is aimed at examining the possibilities of a nonparametric approach in evaluating the surface relief after plastic deformation. This method consists in using the graphs of functions obtained on the basis of three-dimensional topographies as a criterion for estimating the surface. An analysis of the deformation relief was carried out on nickel single crystals with different crystallographic orientations of the compression axis and faces. The samples were compressed at room temperature, the deformation relief was studied using scanning laser confocal microscopy. It is proposed to use nonparametric criteria (such as the distribution function of ordinates and autocorrelation function) to estimate the deformation relief on single crystals surfaces. Using the autocorrelation function, it is shown that the organization of shear traces in the structural elements of deformation reliefs of various types (meso- and macrobands, corrugated structures) leads to an increase of area with mutually consistent deformation. Based on the analysis of nonparametric criteria, the presence of one or several types of structural elements of the relief was identified in the deformation relief on the faces of the samples and their scale hierarchy was shown. The basic structural elements of the deformation relief are shear traces. Thus, a nonparametric (graphical) approach can be used as an additional method for studying the relief of surfaces in deformed solids
