Esta investigación parte desde los usos apropiados que optan los estudiantes de Educación Superior para las actividades que realizan dentro de sus instituciones educativas, en la realización de tareas, investigaciones, con el uso apropiado del internet en cada una de las acciones, la metodología que se realizó en esta investigación fue mediante la comparación de muestras estudiantiles, el objetivo principal se enmarca en la importancia de hoy en día la utilización de dispositivos móviles en el desempeño académico de los estudiantes de Educación Superior, se concluye la investigación dando a conocer el efecto importante de nuevas tecnologías en el proceso de aprendizaje, las cuales causan muchos beneficios

    Influence of a stellar cusp on the dynamics of young stellar discs and the origin of the S-stars in the Galactic Centre

    Observations of the Galactic Centre show evidence of one or two disc-like structures of very young stars orbiting the central super-massive black hole within a distance of a few 0.1 pc. A number of analyses have been carried out to investigate the dynamical behaviour and consequences of these discs, including disc thickness and eccentricity growth as well as mutual interaction and warping. However, most of these studies have neglected the influence of the stellar cusp surrounding the black hole, which is believed to be 1-2 orders of magnitude more massive than the disc(s). By means of N-body integrations using our bhint code, we study the impact of stellar cusps of different compositions. We find that although the presence of a cusp does have an important effect on the evolution of an otherwise isolated flat disc, its influence on the evolution of disc thickness and warping is rather mild in a two-disc configuration. However, we show that the creation of highly eccentric orbits strongly depends on the graininess of the cusp (i.e. the mean and maximum stellar masses): While Chang (2009) recently found that full cycles of Kozai resonance are prevented by the presence of an analytic cusp, we show that relaxation processes play an important role in such highly dense regions and support short-term resonances. We thus find that young disc stars on initially circular orbits can achieve high eccentricities by resonant effects also in the presence of a cusp of stellar remnants, yielding a mechanism to create S-stars and hyper-velocity stars. Furthermore, we discuss the underlying initial mass function (IMF) of the young stellar discs and find no definite evidence for a non-canonical IMF.Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures, 1 table, accepted for publication in MNRA

    A New Secular Instability of Eccentric Stellar Disks Around Supermassive Black Holes, with Application to the Galactic Center

    We identify a new secular instability of eccentric stellar disks around supermassive black holes. We show that retrograde precession of the stellar orbits, due to the presence of a stellar cusp, induces coherent torques that amplify deviations of individual orbital eccentricities from the average, and thus drive all eccentricities away from their initial value. We investigate the instability using N-body simulations, and show that it can drive individual orbital eccentricities to significantly higher or lower values on the order of a precession time-scale. This physics is relevant for the Galactic center, where massive stars are likely to form in eccentric disks around the SgrA* black hole. We show that the observed bimodal eccentricity distribution of disk stars in the Galactic center is in good agreement with the distribution resulting from the eccentricity instability and demonstrate how the dynamical evolution of such a disk results in several of its stars acquiring high (1-e < 0.1) orbital eccentricity. Binary stars on such highly eccentric orbits would get tidally disrupted by the SgrA* black hole, possibly producing both S-stars near the black hole and high-velocity stars in the Galactic halo.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, 1 table, submitted to ApJL.     The study assesses the guidelines of the Land Use and Management Plan in the historic center of Riobamba, utilizing the "Reference Framework for Sustainable Cities" (RFSC) to develop a matrix that verifies the comprehensiveness of these guidelines and their applicability in future planning. A qualitative and cross-sectional methodology is adopted, focused on the collection and analysis of information regarding the measures proposed by the plan, evaluating these through five dimensions of sustainable development. The results demonstrate a strategic integration of the plan's elements with the RFSC dimensions, highlighting an adaptation of land use that promotes diversity and vertical densification in key areas. The research concludes that, although considerable multidimensional integration has been achieved, there are areas for improvement in the political and economic dimensions. The significance of the findings underscores the importance of integrated strategies that address all dimensions of urban sustainability to promote comprehensive and sustainable housing development, emphasizing the need for continuous and critical evaluation of the implemented strategies to ensure equitable and sustainable development of the historic center.El estudio evalúa los lineamientos del Plan de Uso y Gestión de Suelo en el centro histórico de Riobamba, utilizando el marco de referencia "Reference Framework for Sustainable Cities" (RFSC) para desarrollar una matriz que verifique la integralidad de estos lineamientos y su aplicabilidad en futuras planificaciones. Se adopta una metodología cualitativa y transversal, centrada en la recolección y análisis de información sobre las medidas propuestas por el plan, evaluando estas a través de cinco dimensiones de desarrollo sostenible. Los resultados muestran una integración estratégica de los elementos del plan con las dimensiones del RFSC, destacando una adaptación del uso del suelo que promueve la diversidad y densificación vertical en áreas clave. La investigación concluye que, aunque se ha logrado una considerable integración multidimensional, existen áreas de mejora en las dimensiones política y económica. La significancia del hallazgo resalta la importancia de estrategias integradas que aborden todas las dimensiones de la sostenibilidad urbana para fomentar un desarrollo habitacional integral y sostenible, subrayando la necesidad de una evaluación continua y crítica de las estrategias implementadas para asegurar un desarrollo equitativo y sostenible del centro histórico. &nbsp

    Tidal torques. A critical review of some techniques

    We point out that the MacDonald formula for body-tide torques is valid only in the zeroth order of e/Q, while its time-average is valid in the first order. So the formula cannot be used for analysis in higher orders of e/Q. This necessitates corrections in the theory of tidal despinning and libration damping. We prove that when the inclination is low and phase lags are linear in frequency, the Kaula series is equivalent to a corrected version of the MacDonald method. The correction to MacDonald's approach would be to set the phase lag of the integral bulge proportional to the instantaneous frequency. The equivalence of descriptions gets violated by a nonlinear frequency-dependence of the lag. We explain that both the MacDonald- and Darwin-torque-based derivations of the popular formula for the tidal despinning rate are limited to low inclinations and to the phase lags being linear in frequency. The Darwin-torque-based derivation, though, is general enough to accommodate both a finite inclination and the actual rheology. Although rheologies with Q scaling as the frequency to a positive power make the torque diverge at a zero frequency, this reveals not the impossible nature of the rheology, but a flaw in mathematics, i.e., a common misassumption that damping merely provides lags to the terms of the Fourier series for the tidal potential. A hydrodynamical treatment (Darwin 1879) had demonstrated that the magnitudes of the terms, too, get changed. Reinstating of this detail tames the infinities and rehabilitates the "impossible" scaling law (which happens to be the actual law the terrestrial planets obey at low frequencies).Comment: arXiv admin note: sections 4 and 9 of this paper contain substantial text overlap with arXiv:0712.105

    NeBula: TEAM CoSTAR’s robotic autonomy solution that won phase II of DARPA subterranean challenge

    This paper presents and discusses algorithms, hardware, and software architecture developed by the TEAM CoSTAR (Collaborative SubTerranean Autonomous Robots), competing in the DARPA Subterranean Challenge. Specifically, it presents the techniques utilized within the Tunnel (2019) and Urban (2020) competitions, where CoSTAR achieved second and first place, respectively. We also discuss CoSTAR’s demonstrations in Martian-analog surface and subsurface (lava tubes) exploration. The paper introduces our autonomy solution, referred to as NeBula (Networked Belief-aware Perceptual Autonomy). NeBula is an uncertainty-aware framework that aims at enabling resilient and modular autonomy solutions by performing reasoning and decision making in the belief space (space of probability distributions over the robot and world states). We discuss various components of the NeBula framework, including (i) geometric and semantic environment mapping, (ii) a multi-modal positioning system, (iii) traversability analysis and local planning, (iv) global motion planning and exploration behavior, (v) risk-aware mission planning, (vi) networking and decentralized reasoning, and (vii) learning-enabled adaptation. We discuss the performance of NeBula on several robot types (e.g., wheeled, legged, flying), in various environments.     Excretion of catecholamines in rats, mice and chicken

    Stress assessment favours methods, which do not interfere with an animal’s endocrine status. To develop such non-invasive methods, detailed knowledge about the excretion of hormone metabolites in the faeces and urine is necessary. Our study was therefore designed to generate basic information about catecholamine excretion in rats, mice and chickens. After administration of 3H-epinephrine or 3H-norepinephrine to male and female rats, mice and chickens, all voided excreta were collected for 4 weeks, 3 weeks or for 10 days, respectively. Peak concentrations of radioactivity appeared in one of the first urinary samples of mice and rats and in the first droppings in chickens 0.2–7.2 h after injection. In rats, between 77.3 and 95.6% of the recovered catecholamine metabolites were found in the urine, while in mice, a mean of 76.3% were excreted in the urine. Peak concentrations in the faeces were found 7.4 h post injection in mice, and after about 16.4 h in rats (means). Our study provides valuable data about the route and the profile of catecholamine excretion in three frequently used species of laboratory animals. This represents the first step in the development of a reliable, non-invasive quantification of epinephrine and norepinephrine to monitor sympatho-adrenomedullary activity, although promising results for the development of a non-invasive method were found only for the chicken

    Sleep disturbances in highly stress reactive mice: Modeling endophenotypes of major depression

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Neuronal mechanisms underlying affective disorders such as major depression (MD) are still poorly understood. By selectively breeding mice for high (HR), intermediate (IR), or low (LR) reactivity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenocortical (HPA) axis, we recently established a new genetic animal model of extremes in stress reactivity (SR). Studies characterizing this SR mouse model on the behavioral, endocrine, and neurobiological levels revealed several similarities with key endophenotypes observed in MD patients. HR mice were shown to have changes in rhythmicity and sleep measures such as rapid eye movement sleep (REMS) and non-REM sleep (NREMS) as well as in slow wave activity, indicative of reduced sleep efficacy and increased REMS. In the present study we were interested in how far a detailed spectral analysis of several electroencephalogram (EEG) parameters, including relevant frequency bands, could reveal further alterations of sleep architecture in this animal model. Eight adult males of each of the three breeding lines were equipped with epidural EEG and intramuscular electromyogram (EMG) electrodes. After recovery, EEG and EMG recordings were performed for two days.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Differences in the amount of REMS and wakefulness and in the number of transitions between vigilance states were found in HR mice, when compared with IR and LR animals. Increased frequencies of transitions from NREMS to REMS and from REMS to wakefulness in HR animals were robust across the light-dark cycle. Detailed statistical analyses of spectral EEG parameters showed that especially during NREMS the power of the theta (6-9 Hz), alpha (10-15 Hz) and eta (16-22.75 Hz) bands was significantly different between the three breeding lines. Well defined distributions of significant power differences could be assigned to different times during the light and the dark phase. Especially during NREMS, group differences were robust and could be continuously monitored across the light-dark cycle.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>The HR mice, i.e. those animals that have a genetic predisposition to hyper-activating their HPA axis in response to stressors, showed disturbed patterns in sleep architecture, similar to what is known from depressed patients. Significant alterations in several frequency bands of the EEG, which also seem to at least partly mimic clinical observations, suggest the SR mouse lines as a promising animal model for basic research of mechanisms underlying sleep impairments in MD.</p
