The Osona Research Group on Folklore: research and the archive

Amb Josep Maria Pujol ens va unir la passió cap a la recerca folklòrica. Junts férem diversos treballs d’investigació i d’estudi del folklore oral. Ens apassionaven parlant sobre la manera de com tractar la llengua i la transcripció, de la importància de la conversa i, especialment, sobre la comunicació folklòrica. Així en Josep Maria Pujol va ser el nostre punt de referència i el nostre avalador.La metodologia de treball del Grup de Recerca Folklòrica d’Osona (1980) ha estat el resultat d’abundants i fecundes reflexions que podem sintetitzar en deu punts: treball en grup; base teòrica; importància de la tecnologia; enregistraments; coneixement del lloc; presa de la informació; arxivar; conversa com a base de recerca; relació amb l’informant; tractar la llengua amb molta cura.Fruit de les campanyes de recerca tenim uns arxius amb més de 700 informants i gairebé 21.000 entrades de fragments de converses d’interès folklòric. Precision cosmology as a test for statistics

We compute the shift in the epoch of matter-radiation equality due to the possible existence of a different statistical (non-extensive) background. The shift is mainly caused by a different neutrino-photon temperature ratio. We then consider the prospects to use future large galaxy surveys and cosmic microwave background measurements to constrain the degree of non-extensivity of the universe.Comment: to appear in Physica

La falta de homogeneidad del producto (FHP) en las empresas cerámicas y su impacto en la reasignación del inventario

La asignación del producto disponible a prometer (ATP) a pedidos en contextos de fabricación contra almacén (MTS) es de la máxima importancia ya que puede influir en la satisfacción del cliente y en los beneficios de la empresa. Sin embargo, una asignación inicial adecuada, puede pasar a ser inadecuada por diversas razones. En estos casos, es necesaria la reasignación del inventario, la cual será más compleja cuanto más ambiciosos sean los objetivos a alcanzar con ella y mayor el volumen de información a utilizar. En este sentido, cabe destacar que la falta de homogeneidad en el producto (FHP), presente en distintos sectores industriales, provoca la atomización del inventario y aumenta la complejidad de la reasignación, dificultando la obtención de soluciones óptimas. En el presente trabajo se describe la problemática de la FHP, primero de manera genérica, y luego, particularizada a empresas cerámicas MTS. Posteriormente, se identifican las situaciones en las que una determinada asignación de ATP puede dejar de ser adecuada en dicho contexto y se propone la reasignación como una forma de búsqueda de nuevas asignaciones válidas. Finalmente, mediante un caso de estudio de una empresa cerámica, se analiza el impacto de la FHP en cada una de las situaciones identificadas, observando que la FHP provoca alguna de éstas situaciones y complica, en todas ellas, la reasignación del inventario a pedidos.Peer reviewe

Virtual effects of light gauginos and higgsinos: a precision electroweak analysis of split supersymmetry

We compute corrections to precision electroweak observables in supersymmetry in the limit that scalar superpartners are very massive and decoupled. This leaves charginos and neutralinos and a Standard Model-like Higgs boson as the only states with unknown mass substantially affecting the analysis. We give complete formulas for the chargino and neutralino contributions, derive simple analytic results for the pure gaugino and higgsino cases, and study the general case. We find that in all circumstances, the precision electroweak fit improves when the charginos and neutralinos are near the current direct limits. Larger higgsino and gaugino masses worsen the fit as the theory predictions asymptotically approach those of the Standard Model. Since the Standard Model is considered by most to be an adequate fit to the precision electroweak data, an important corollary to our analysis is that all regions of parameter space allowed by direct collider constraints are also allowed by precision electroweak constraints in split supersymmetry.Comment: 22 pages, 5 figures, v2: typos fixed and note adde

Reactive dynamics on fractal sets: anomalous fluctuations and memory effects

We study the effect of fractal initial conditions in closed reactive systems in the cases of both mobile and immobile reactants. For the reaction $A+A\to A$, in the absence of diffusion, the mean number of particles $A$ is shown to decay exponentially to a steady state which depends on the details of the initial conditions. The nature of this dependence is demonstrated both analytically and numerically. In contrast, when diffusion is incorporated, it is shown that the mean number of particles $$ decays asymptotically as $t^{-d_f/2}$, the memory of the initial conditions being now carried by the dynamical power law exponent. The latter is fully determined by the fractal dimension $d_f$ of the initial conditions.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures, uses epl.cl

A guide to the eggs and larvae of 100 common Western Mediterranean Sea bony fish species.

This guide presents the egg and larval descriptions of 100 species of fishes belonging to 55 families, which are most likely to be present in plankton samples collected in the continental shelf and oceanic waters of the Western Mediterranean Sea. The guide is structured in two parts. The first introductory part describes the different applications of ichthyoplankton studies in fisheries research, the main sampling strategies, methods and gears, the early life history of fishes and how to identify them. A brief historical account of ichthyoplankton identification studies in the Mediterranean Sea is also provided. The second part of the guide contains the identification sheets of the species. Each species sheet includes the following information: illustration of the adult fish and information on its habitat and spawning season; description of the main features useful towards identifying the egg, yolk sac and larval stage of each fish species; illustrations and (when available) photos of the different life stages.Versión del edito
