Development of the utilization of traditional medicine Indonesia is a great potential in improving the quality of life and welfare of the nation. At this time Indonesia has not owned a standardized yankestradkom system, monitored and measured. Some efforts have been made either by the ministry of health with professional organizations are expected to improve the RPP yankestradkom will be a stronger laws in the administration yankestradkom in Indonesia, Jamu saintifikasi program, preparation of NSPK, revitalization Sp3T. In line with efforts to use yankestradkom developments in Indonesia, is also rife yankestradkom advertisements in various media several times that seem excessive and violated the existing rules so as to be misleading and potentially harmful to society. Now there are various laws in connection with the development of the utilization of traditional medicine / complementary alternative in Indonesia. The existence and diversity of the administered yankestradkom in Indonesia need in order in a system, so it can be integrated in the national health system and can be accounted for. For the development of herbal medicine in fasyankes necessary scientific data supporting the existence of evidence (Evidence based). In developing the use of a standardized yankestradkom monitored and measured, there will be many problems to be solved. For that we need to set priorities in handling such problems as develop a system, set a legal umbrella, as well as the guidance and supervision of both the implementation and utilization of advertising yankestradkom

Climate change heavily impacts smallholder farming worldwide. Cross-scale vulnerability assessment has a high potential to identify nested measures for reducing vulnerability of smallholder farmers. Despite their high practical value, there are currently only limited examples of cross-scale assessments. The presented study aims at assessing the vulnerability of smallholder farmers in the Northeast of Brazil across three scales: regional, farm and field scale. In doing so, it builds on existing vulnerability indices and compares results between indices at the same scale and across scales. In total, six independent indices are tested, two at each scale. The calculated indices include social, economic and ecological indicators, based on municipal statistics, meteorological data, farm interviews and soil analyses. Subsequently, indices and overlapping indicators are normalized for intra- and cross-scale comparison. The results show considerable differences between indices across and within scales. They indicate different activities to reduce vulnerability of smallholder farmers. Major shortcomings arise from the conceptual differences between the indices. We therefore recommend the development of hierarchical indices, which are adapted to local conditions and contain more overlapping indicators for a better understanding of the nested vulnerabilities of smallholder farmers

Finite Element Modeling of Resonance in Polycrystalline Materials for Resonance Ultrasound Spectroscopy

    Get PDF
Validation of models that predict the performance of aerospace engine materials depends on the ability to obtain accurate single crystal elastic constants. Resonance Ultrasound Spectroscopy (RUS) is a nondestructive technique in which the natural resonances of a material are utilized to obtain these constants. Traditional RUS utilizes an analytic approach to determine the resonance frequencies of a specimen given an initial guess set of elastic constants. A nonlinear optimization process then fits the elastic constants to experimentally measured data. This approach is limited both in its ability to handle specimens with complex geometry and to handle polycrystalline materials. These more complex scenarios can be approached by utilizing a finite element forward model to obtain sample resonances. A finite element forward model is being developed utilizing COMSOL Multiphysics to compute specimen resonance frequencies. Elastic constants are obtained utilizing a bounded nonlinear optimization routine in MATLAB by way of COMSOL\u27s LiveLink for MATLAB interface. Validation of this forward model has been performed on single crystal specimens, including a nickel superalloy parallelepiped and a fused silica cylinder with a chamfer, ultimately producing lower residual error after optimization than the traditional RUS approach. Model validation is also being performed on a Nickel Aluminide (NiAl) bicrystal. This paper presents the details of this validation process. Also presented is an examination of error sources and the impact they can play in the ability to accurately obtain elastic constants

Domain matched epitaxial growth of Bi1.5Zn1Nb1.5O7 thin films by pulsed laser deposition

    Get PDF
Bi1.5Zn1Nb1.5O7 (BZN) epitaxial thin films were grown by pulsed laser deposition on Al2O3 with a double ZnO buffer layer through domain matching epitaxy (DME) mechanism. The pole figure analysis and reciprocal space mapping revealed the single crystalline nature of the thin film. The pole figure analysis also shows a 60º twinning for the (222) oriented crystals. Sharp intense spots in the SAED pattern also indicate the high crystalline nature of BZN thin film. The Fourier filtered HRTEM images of the BZN-ZnO interface confirms the domain matched epitaxy of BZN with ZnO buffer. An electric field dependent dielectric tunability of 68% was obtained for the BZN thin films with inter digital capacitors patterned over the film

A targeted gene panel that covers coding, non-coding and short tandem repeat regions improves the diagnosis of patients with neurodegenerative diseases

    Get PDF
Genetic testing for neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) is highly challenging because of genetic heterogeneity and overlapping manifestations. Targeted-gene panels (TGPs), coupled with next-generation sequencing (NGS), can facilitate the profiling of a large repertoire of ND-related genes. Due to the technical limitations inherent in NGS and TGPs, short tandem repeat (STR) variations are often ignored. However, STR expansions are known to cause such NDs as Huntington\u27s disease and spinocerebellar ataxias type 3 (SCA3). Here, we studied the clinical utility of a custom-made TGP that targets 199 NDs and 311 ND-associated genes on 118 undiagnosed patients. At least one known or likely pathogenic variation was found in 54 patients; 27 patients demonstrated clinical profiles that matched the variants; and 16 patients whose original diagnosis were refined. A high concordance of variant calling were observed when comparing the results from TGP and whole-exome sequencing of four patients. Our in-house STR detection algorithm has reached a specificity of 0.88 and a sensitivity of 0.82 in our SCA3 cohort. This study also uncovered a trove of novel and recurrent variants that may enrich the repertoire of ND-related genetic markers. We propose that a combined comprehensive TGPs-bioinformatics pipeline can improve the clinical diagnosis of NDs
