    The Intelligent Web

    Many people are working on the Semantic Web with the main objective being to enhance web searches. Our proposal is a new research strategy based on the existence of a discrete set of semantic relations for the creation and exploitation of semantic networks on the web. To do so, we have defined in a previous paper (Álamo, Martínez, Jaén) the Rhetoric-Semantic Relation (RSR) based on the results of the Rhetoric Structure Theory. We formulate a general set of RSR capable of building discourse and making it possible to express any concept, procedure or principle in terms of knowledge nodes and RSRs. These knowledge nodes can then be elaborated in the same way. This network structure in terms of RSR makes the objective of developing automatic answering systems possible as well as any other type of utilities oriented towards the exploitation of semantic structure, such as the automatic production of web pages or automatic e-learning generation

    After a general overview in a previous paper [AMJ10b], in which we proposed Didactic Networks (DN) as a new way for developing and exploiting web-learning content, we offer here a deeper study showing how to use them for web-learning design and content generation based on Instructional Theory with the coherence guaranty of the RST [MT99]. By using a set of expressivity patterns, it is possible to obtain different final ¿products¿ from the DNs such as different level or different aspect web-learning lessons, depending on the target, documents or evaluation tests. In parallel we are defining the Fundamental Cognitive Networks (FCN), in which we deal with the most common patterns human being uses to think and communicate ideas. This FCN set reuses the representation of Concepts, Procedures and Principles defined here, and it is the main topic of a paper we are working on for the very near future

    Didactic Networks: A proposal for e-learning content generation

    The Didactic Networks proposed in this paper are based on previous publications in the field of the RSR (Rhetorical-Semantic Relations). The RSR is a set of primitive relations used for building a specific kind of semantic networks for artificial intelligence applications on the web: the RSN (Rhetorical-Semantic Networks). We bring into focus the RSR application in the field of elearning, by defining Didactic Networks as a new set of semantic patterns oriented to the development of eleaming applications. The different lines we offer in our research Jail mainly into three levels: • The most basic one is in the field of computational linguistics and related to Logical Operations on RSR (RSR Inverses and plurals. RSR combinations, etc), once they have been created. The application of Walter Bosma 's results regarding rhetorical distance application and treatment as semantic weighted networks is one of the important issues here. • In parallel, we have been working on the creation of a knowledge representation and storage model and data architecture capable of supporting the definition of knowledge networks based on RSR. • The third strategic line is in the meso-level, the formulation of a molecular structure of knowledge based on the most frequently used patterns. The main contribution at this level is the set of Fundamental Cognitive Networks (FCN) as an application of Novak's mental maps proposal. This paper is part of this third intermediate level, and the Fundamental Didactic Networks (FDN) are the result of the application of rhetorical theoiy procedures to the instructional theory. We have formulated a general set of RSR capable of building discourse, making it possible to express any concept, procedure or principle in terms of knowledge nodes and RSRs. The instructional knowledge can then be elaborated in the same way. This network structure expressing the instructional knowledge in terms of RSR makes the objective of developing web-learning lessons semi-automutkally possible, as well as any other type of utilities oriented towards the exploitation of semantic structure, such as the automatic question answering systems

    Analysis and Optimization of Multi-Winding Toroidal Inductors for Use in Multilayered Technologies

    The aim of this paper is to compare the performance of planar toroidal inductors and circular spiral inductors in multilayered technologies, in terms of achievable inductance density. New multi-winding toroidal inductor geometry is proposed to cover as much of the integration area as possible with the component footprint. The optimization of planar multi-winding toroidal inductors in multilayered substrates is investigated theoretically, and closed formulae are derived for their inductances as a function of geometrical parameters for any given value of the number of windings in the coil. The model obtained is validated experimentally and through electromagnetic simulation. Comparing the inductance of multi-winding toroidal inductors and compact spiral inductors allows us to update previously reported selection rules for the most suitable topology that leads to the most compact design

    The Rich Globular Cluster System of Abell 1689 and the Radial Dependence of the Globular Cluster Formation Efficiency

    We study the rich globular cluster (GC) system in the center of the massive cluster of galaxies Abell 1689 (z=0.18), one of the most powerful gravitational lenses known. With 28 HST/ACS orbits in the F814W bandpass, we reach magnitude I_814=29 with >90% completeness and sample the brightest ~5% of the GC system. Assuming the well-known Gaussian form of the GC luminosity function (GCLF), we estimate a total population of N(GC_total) = 162,850 GCs within a projected radius of 400kpc. As many as half may comprise an intracluster component. Even with the sizable uncertainties, which mainly result from the uncertain GCLF parameters, this is by far the largest GC system studied to date. The specific frequency S_N is high, but not uncommon for central galaxies in massive clusters, rising from S_N~5 near the center to ~12 at large radii. Passive galaxy fading would increase S_N by ~20% at z=0. We construct the radial mass profiles of the GCs, stars, intracluster gas, and lensing-derived total mass, and we compare the mass fractions as a function of radius. The estimated mass in GCs, M(GC_total)=3.9x10^10 Msun, is comparable to ~80% of the total stellar mass of the Milky Way. The shape of the GC mass profile appears intermediate between those of the stellar light and total cluster mass. Despite the extreme nature of this system, the ratios of the GC mass to the baryonic and total masses, and thus the GC formation efficiency, are typical of those in other rich clusters when comparing at the same physical radii. The GC formation efficiency is not constant, but varies with radius, in a manner that appears similar for different clusters; we speculate on the reasons for this similarity in profile.Comment: 13 pages, 11 figures; accepted for publication in Ap

    En este trabajo se describe el uso de un sistema de evaluación automática como herramienta de apoyo para el aprendizaje y seguimiento continuado de los alumnos de la asignatura de Fundamentos de Programación del primer curso de las titulaciones de los grados de Ingeniería en Tecnologías Industriales y de Ingeniería Química impartidos en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (ETSII-UPM) desde el curso 2010-11. El sistema de evaluación se implementa mediante uno de los módulos de la plataforma AulaWeb desarrollada en la UPM. Se analizan además los resultados obtenidos considerando que las calificaciones obtenidas en los ejercicios programados pueden tenerse en cuenta en la calificación final de la asignatura como parte de la evaluación continuada durante el periodo académico de acuerdo con la metodología propuesta en el Proceso de Bolonia para los estudios universitarios

    Para el desarrollo de la siguiente investigación tuvo como objetivo de estudio fundamentar la contribución del Programa Reactiva Perú en el restablecimiento de la liquidez de la empresa JKMB Generales SRL, Chimbote 2020, es de tipo descriptiva simple – no experimental, de forma aplicativa; se tuvo como muestra de la población de estudio a la contadora de la empresa JKMB Generales SRL, donde se realizó la técnica de recolección de datos en una entrevista y la guía de análisis documental. Del cual se tuvo como resultado en la entrevista que la empresa por medio del programa Reactiva Perú, mejoró su liquidez afectada por la pandemia del Covid 19, por el cual la empresa pudo hacer frente a sus obligaciones a corto plazo. Pudieron cubrir sus obligaciones, como además tener fondos para una inversión extra en la empresa, creando nuevos ingresos y una mejor rentabilidad. Y la guía de análisis documental que mediante el estudio de sus cuentas para el análisis de la liquidez denotamos que la empresa mejoró su liquidez mediante el programa Reactiva Perú

    Assessing Creativity In Engineering Students: A Comparative Between Degrees and Sudents In First And Last Year

    An online open access test (CREAX self-assessment) has been used in this work so that students from degrees in engineering in the Universidad Polite¿cnica of Madrid (UPM) could self-assess their creative competence after several classroom activities. Different groups from the first year course have been statistically compared using data from their assessment. These first year students had different professors in the subject ?Technical Drawing? and belonged to several degrees in the UPM. They were as well compared regarding sex and a group of first year students was also compared to another last year group of the degree so as to observe possible differences in the achievement of this competence. Only one difference was detected concerning sex in one of the degrees. Among degrees, the higher marks obtained by students who had done specific exercises for the development of creativity in class is highlighted. Finally, a significantly high mark was observed in students during their last year of degree with respect to first year students. The tool CREAX has become very useful in the assessment of this competence in the UPM degrees in which it has been implemented

    In the title compound, C10H8N3S+·NO3 −·H2O, one of the N atoms of the benzimidazole unit is protonated, unlike than that in the thia­zole group. This protonation leads to equalization of the bond angles at the two N atoms of the benzimidazole group. The benzimidazole and thia­zole systems are almost coplanar, forming a dihedral angle of 0.5 (2)°. In the crystal, the nitrate anion and water mol­ecule bridge the thia­bendazolium cations through N—H⋯O and O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, leading to a supra­molecular network based on an infinite one-dimensional chain using [001] as base vector
