This study aims to trace the numerical and topical trends of the production of Jordanian books that are deposited in the Jordanian National Library during a ten-year span  starting 2002 until 2011; in order to pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses and provide guidance for future productions and publishing; the study uses bibliometric studies as a methodology by data analysis and bibliographical information that were published in the National Jordanian Bibliographies editions during the years between 2002-2011 in which it was the main tool for data collection. the most important findings of the study is that there is no correlation between the size or quantity of production and the chronology of years in general, and that the annual production rate in Jordan of books is (1106.2) books; where Arabic Language books dominates the larger percentage, with the total of Arabic books produced is 10563 calculated as 95.49%. Also, the general trend of publishing in Jordan focuses on topics related to humanities and social sciences at the expense of other sciences; and there is a lack in the printing and publishing movement in the governorates and cities as it is concentrated in the capital, Amman. The study has concluded many important recommendations: Supporting the publishing movement in Jordan, providing licenses for publishing and printing services as well as intellectual property rights in other governorates outside the capital Amman, and encouraging authors and writers to publish in the subjects that did not get enough interest before. Conducting bibliometric cumulative studies similar to this study and more detailed in terms of throughout analysis and the publishing prioritization in accord with an objective coverage by the National Library Department to these studies of such importance in determining national priorities in copyright. To provide and make sources of information in libraries, information centers and academic libraries available for free to all citizens in universities to encourage the intellectual and publishing movement. Get PDF
The possibility of combining the finishing and natural dyeing of cotton fabric has been studied using a single-stage, paddry-cure technique, by treating it with chitosan/titanium dioxide nanoparticle colloids and turmeric dye. Differentparameters have been studied to optimise the process, such as the chitosan/TiO2 nanoparticle colloid concentration, citricacid crosslinker concentration, sodium pyrophosphate catalyst concentration, dye concentration, pH, curing time, andtemperature. To investigate the effects of combined treatment on the dyeing and functional properties of the treated cottonfabric, its ultraviolet protection factor, antibacterial activity, self-cleaning properties, rigidity, colour strength (K/S), fastnessbehaviour, nitrogen content, and wettability are determined. In addition, the cotton fabric surface is characterised usingscanning electron microscopy. The samples treated with chitosan/TiO2 in the presence of citric acid exhibit excellentprotection against ultraviolet radiation as well as antibacterial activity. The optimum conditions are 0.75% TiO2 (w/v), 10% dye (w/v), 2.5% chitosan (w/v), 30 g/L citric acid, 4 g/L sodium pyrophosphate, 70°C drying temp. and 5 min drying time,180°C curing temp. and 2 min curing time. The results also indicate the efficiency of the treatment in improving the selfcleaningproperties of the fabric. A significant improvement in the colour fastness is observed for the treated fabrics

The present study aimed to explore the extent of carrying out self-assessment practices by leaders in private schools in Amman in accordance with the standards of the Arab Organization for Quality Assurance of Education. To meet the study’s goals, a sixty two item questionnaire was developed. This questionnaire sheds a light on six areas. The reliability and validity of the questionnaire were measured. The questionnaire forms were distributed to 256 principals. Those principals were selected randomly.  They were selected from the private schools located in Amman. It was found that the extent of carrying out self-assessment practices by leaders in private schools in Amman is high. It was found that there are statistically significant differences –at the statistical significance level of (a=0.05)- between respondents’ attitudes which can be attributed to gender. The latter differences are for the favor of females. It was found that there isn’t any statistically significant difference –at the statistical significance level of (a=0.05)- between respondents’ attitudes which can be attributed to experience. The researchers recommend providing the principals in private schools with training courses about the way of forming groups for carrying out self-assessment. Such training courses must promote knowledge about the way of carrying out self-assessment in accordance with the standards of the Arab Organization for Quality Assurance of Education. The main function of the smart meter system is to transport the volume consumption value to main data base unit (server or main computer) through some repeating points.  The system included these elements: The flow sensor, the valve (DC solenoid valve), the transceiver, the controller, the LCD, Vent valve   Each home or factory connected to smart meter and these meters relay the data to sub stations through any appropriate method these methods could be : Wired method Cables. RF communication methods (AM and FM), GSM network Wi-Fi connection, Ethernet network. Then the substation carries the data to main station, and the master computer does bill processing while no manipulation attempt, the substation will read the consumption and then convert it to m3. Also the authority can easily control the service so they could cut the service out by sending the stopping code to the meter. The benefits of smart metering for the utility accurate meter reading, no more estimates, improved billing, accurate profile, true costs applied and Improved security efficient procedure. We have achieved the goal of research; It can be used efficiently in Lima Company. Kay word: smart, water meters, sensors, controllers, bill value

Human resource development as a strategic tool for developing the Omani economy: The case of Duqm Special Economic Zone in Oman (DSEZ)

    Get PDF
Research is increasingly acknowledging the pivotal role of national human resource development (NHRD) in economic development. There is a growing call to conduct research in country-specific contexts to further explore this concept and the factors that influence its outcomes. The concept differs from one country to another; therefore, many HRD studies focus on one country. However, few have focused on the Middle East region, and there has been even less research on Oman. The aim here is to fill this research gap by analysing Oman’s HRD practices. Specifically, the intent is to identify the gap in skillsets in Oman and to develop an NHRD model that is appropriate for the country’s economic requirements for national skills development

Early Muslim Traditionalism: A Critical Study of the Works and Political Theology of Ahmad Ibn Hanbal

    Get PDF
The political theology of AÎmad Ibn Íanbal (d. 241/855( is analysed through comprehensive examination of the authenticity of theological and juridical books attributed to him. The eponym of the ÍanbalÐ school (madhhab) of law and theology, AÎmad’s importance lies in his teaching as a jurisprudent and his practices as a zÁhid (renunciant), which attracted many students to his circle. However, he is best known for his reputation as a defender of correct belief, and for firmly resisting the doctrine of three ÝAbbÁsid caliphs that the QurÞÁn was created, although he was imprisoned and beaten during the Inquisition known as al-MiÎnah (between 218/833 and c. 232/847). As a result of AÎmad’s importance, a variety of different opinions and epistles were ascribed to him. Theologically, the most important among these are the Six Creeds and al-Radd ÝalÁ al-ZanÁdiqah wa-al-JahmÐyah which is a polemical epistle. In jurisprudence there were response collections from AÎmad’s students called al-MasÁÞil, eight of which are still extant, either partly or completely. These works are examined in this thesis. AÎmad’s theo-political ideas are critical to understanding the political thought of Sunnism in general, and the study analyses his doctrines on the importance of the JamÁÝah (Community), ÓÁÝah (Obedience) and al-Amr bi-al-maÝrÙf wa-al-nahy Ýan al-munkar (commanding right and forbidding wrong). AÎmad was a quietist thinker, but the main purpose of his quietism was in fact to save the unity of the Muslim community from internal fighting and protect the common people who always lacked security and suffered from threats of looting of their shops and houses. Though a quietist, AÎmad was not in favour of the rulers and avoided all kinds of connections to them, including not accepting their gifts or working with them. He became angry with his family when they accepted the caliph’s money
