Synchronous testicular liposarcoma and prostate adenocarcinoma: a case report

    Get PDF
Prostate adenocarcinoma is the most common malignancy and the second leading cause of cancer related deaths in men. Testicular liposarcomas are uncommon soft tissue neoplasms. We report coexistence of prostate cancer and testicular liposarcoma in a 69 year-old-man because while orchiectomy endications are decreasing day by day, these second malignancies should not be missed

WOS: 00029821680001011 aphid species are reported as new records for Turkey aphid fauna at the end of the study carried out in Samsun Province of Turkey between 2009 and 2010. New records are Aphis gerardianae Mordvilkoi, Aphis loti Kaltenbach, Aphis middletoni Thomas, Aphis pashtshenkoae Remaudiere, Aphis proffti (Borner), Aphis pseudocardui Theobald, Chaitophorus lapponum Ossiannilsson, Cinara watanabei Inouye, Lachnus longirostrum David and Ghosh, Sipha arenarii Mordvilko and Uroleucon kashmiricum (Verma). With these new records, the number of species of aphids listed for Turkey has increased to 475.Ondokuz Mayis University Scientific Research Projects Commission [PYO.FEN.1904.09.030]The financial support of the Ondokuz Mayis University Scientific Research Projects Commission for Project No. PYO.FEN.1904.09.030 is gratefully acknowledged. WOS: 000281496500018Nine aphid species from the Ondokuz Mayis University Kurupelit campus in Samsun province, Turkey, were determined as new records for the Turkish fauna. These species were Aphis helianthi Monell in Riley & Monell, 1879; Macrosiphum impatientis (Williams, 1911); Macrosiphum mordvilkoi Miyazaki, 1968; Macrosiphum pallidum (Oestlunt, 1887); Uroleucon pseudoambrosiae (Olive, 1963); Cinara maghrebica Mimeur, 1934; Cinara wahluca Hottes, 1952; Stomaphis cupressi (Pintera, 1965); and Maculolachnus submacula (Walker, 1848)

Acoustic and morphological characters are very important to distinguish species of Cicadidae. In this study, the morphological and acoustic characters of Cicadatra platyptera Fieber, 1876 (Hemiptera, Cicadidae) collected from Turkey were analysed. The external morphological structures of two species were drawn and photographs of some specimens were taken. We evaluated taxonomically important morphological characters such as body shape, colors, patterns, structure, and genital structure. We evaluated measurements of external morphological structures and acoustics characters of C. platyptera from Turkey, partly with statistical analyses. Morphological characters were compared and differentiated from the closely related species, C. atra. The distribution in Turkey including previous records and the material examined were shown on a map, and the distribution in Palearctic Region was given

WOS: 000272196100001Six aphid species were determined as new records for Turkey aphid fauna from far Eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey, where no studies have been carried out related with aphids. These species are Adelges cooleyi, Adelges pectinatae, Aphis impatientis, Betulaphis quadrituberculata, Periphyllus aceris and Pterocallis albidus. With these new records, the total number of aphid species in Turkey comes up to 446, The findings of the presented study and other recent studies showed that a higher number of aphid species is expected in Turkey due to particular ecological, geographical, climatic, continental position and floristic features of Turkey.Turkish Scientific Council (TUBITAK)This study is supported by the Turkish Scientific Council (TUBITAK)

Prognostic factors in medically inoperable early stage lung cancer patients treated with stereotactic ablative radiation therapy (SABR): Turkish Radiation Oncology Society Multicentric Study

Objective We identified factors influencing outcomes in patients with medically inoperable early stage lung cancer (MIESLC) treated with stereotactic ablative radiation therapy (SABR) at 14 centers in Turkey. Materials and Methods We retrospectively analyzed 431 patients with stage I-II MIESLC treated with SABR from 2009 through 2017. Age; sex; performance score; imaging technique; tumor histology and size; disease stage radiation dose, fraction and biologically effective dose with an alpha/beta ratio of 10 (BED10); tumor location and treatment center were evaluated for associations with overall survival (OS), local control (LC) and toxicity. Results Median follow-up time was 27 months (range 1-115); median SABR dose was 54 Gy (range 30-70) given in a median three fractions (range 1-10); median BED(10)was 151 Gy (range 48-180). Tumors were peripheral in 285 patients (66.1%), central in 69 (16%) and 100 Gy (P = .011), adenocarcinoma (P = .025) and complete response on first evaluation (P = .007) predicted favorable LC. BED10> 120 Gy (hazard ratio [HR] 1.9, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.1-3.2,P = .019) and tumor size ( 120 Gy was needed for better LC and OS for large, non-adenocarcinoma tumors
