It is seen that the importance of entrepreneurship at regional and global levels is increasing day by day. The roles of entrepreneurs in this increase are pretty remarkable. Many studies have been conducted to understand entrepreneurs' roles better and reveal the factors that push individuals toward entrepreneurship in a better way. Some of these researches are shaped around the concept of entrepreneurial personality. It is seen that this concept, which includes both entrepreneurship and personality, is examined in a multidisciplinary manner. A bibliometric analysis was conducted to examine how studies on entrepreneurial personality have been handled from past to present and other characteristics. The Web of Science database encountered 169 studies on entrepreneurial personality between 1977 and 2023. VOSviewer program was used to visualize these studies with scientific mapping techniques. In addition, the MaxQDA program was used for additional analysis. As a result, it is seen that studies on entrepreneurial personality are shaped around different countries and different author groups. In addition, it has been concluded that academic interest in entrepreneurial personality has increased, and this increase will continue. It is thought that studies on entrepreneurial personality are effective in explaining a structure that expands from the individual to society and economy

Dative Arguments in Turkish: Caused Experiencers versus Applicatives

    Get PDF
This paper investigates a type of construction in Turkish which is similar to Ingason's (2016) "caused experience" construction in Icelandic. The study draws a distinction between experiencers and applicatives through an investigation of novel data, and contends that these two arguments occupy distinct syntactic positions in the structure. The caused experiencers in Turkish are introduced by the syntactic head Aff(ect) of Bosse and Bruening (2011); Bosse et al. (2012), whereas applicatives are introduced by the Applicative head (Pylkkänen, 2008). The proposal also captures the at-issue meaning of the sentence as well as not-at-issue meaning (an implicature) of the sentence

John D. Bernal: On the reconstruction of the history of science in the light of the social function of science

By the beginning of the 20th century, the discussions on the nature of science always are considered with regard to what the scientific knowledge is, to the criterion of scientific knowledge, and/or, to the problem of demarcation; and questions on the teleological cause of science or on the aims of scientific research are not taken up at all. The present study aims to consider and think furtherly on those untouched issues. In the first chapter, we discuss some major philosophers and their thoughts in the philosophy of science. Within the context of the problem of demarcation, the perspectives of some philosophers like Popper, Kuhn, Feyerabend and Lakatos are presented. In this framework, we introduce different views on demarcation between science and pseudo-science. In the second chapter of the study, the place of science in ancient, medieval and modern ages, and the relationship of science with problems of human and society are analysed in correspondence with John Desmond Bernal’s views. In this context, considering what the purpose of science is from Bernal’s perspective, we introduce the value and the significance of science for both human beings in particular and society in general. As a result, this study, as Bernal foresees, emphasises that science should not be destructive, but constructive, regenerative and life-saver, and the connection between science and other values of human being should never be cut off

Öğrencilerin Fikirlerini Takip Etme: Nereye Kadar?

The purpose of this study was to find answers to the following two questions: What happens when a teacher follows his students’ alternative ideas in his mathematics classroom? What is the limit of letting go in a problem solving process? A teacher with 15 years of mathematics teaching experience tried to modify his pedagogical practices towards an argument-based approach as part of a professional development project. This paper is a snapshot of a lesson selected from a number of videos recorded in his classroom when teaching “real numbers unit”. The data were analyzed using an observation matrix whose bases are creating dialogic interaction, controlling problem solving process and making connections. The results revealed that the teacher hesitated to let the students follow their own problem solving process and explain their mathematical understanding because of his “comfort zone” in traditional way of teaching. This type of hesitation in changing pedagogy blocks shifting from an algorithmic view of mathematics to the mathematics as a constructed actionBu makalenin amacı, şu iki soruya cevap aramaktır: Bir öğretmen problem çözme sürecinde öğrencilerin alternatif fikirlerini takip ederken neler olur?

Relationship between multidimensional perfectionism and cognitive flexibility in university students

    Get PDF
In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between multidimensional perfectionism and cognitive flexibility in university students. The sample consisted of 375 students (179 [47.7%] males) aged from 18 to 41 years. Data were obtained using the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS) and Cognitive Flexibility Inventory (CFI). Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the data. The results obtained from the research has shown that multidimensional perfectionism affects cognitive flexibility and as multidimensional perfectionism increases, the level of cognitive flexibility decreases

Mediating role of optimism in the relationship between self-compassion and subjective well-being

    Get PDF
In this study, whether optimism has a mediating role in the relationship between self-compassion and subjective well-being was examined. The sample of the study consisted of 302 volunteer participants (117 [38.74%] males) between the ages of 18 and 47. Data were obtained using the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), Positive and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS), and Optimism Scale (OS). The data obtained from the scales were analyzed with the Structural Equation Model using IBM SPSS Amos 22.00 statistical package program. According to the findings of the study, optimism plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between self-compassion and subjective well-being. Consequently, self- compassion affects optimism, and this effect may increase subjective well-being

QUESTIONING THE SOCIAL SERVICES IN TURKEY THROUGH RAPE SURVIVORS

    Get PDF
In Turkey, policies are mainly based on strengthening family ties which actually weaken women's positions in every aspect of life and there is still no gender equality in law especially in practice. Social policies and institutions in Turkey are not so much supportive of women or focusing on the needs of women. This stems from the social structure which mostly concerns men's needs. Raping women is a part of systematic and political violence in Turkey. Our research aims to examine what conditions women are in and suffer through in Turkey when they have been raped or exposed to sexual violence.A woman has to deal with the patriarchal structure in every step of reporting procedure to the police and prosecution officer in the process of forensics to get a report when she has been raped. It means that she experiences the same trauma over and over again. Women are questioned as offenders rather than victims. Hence, women avoid reporting their cases in the first place, and of course this happens when the case did not end with death However, lack of emergency response plan for rape survivors in Turkey is the main issue of this work. We need rape crisis centres established under the Ministry of Family and Social Policies (ASPB) and Ministry of Health or a network of NGOs and research centres in universities. However, Turkish government does not set budget for such centres. This is another concern of our research. This study mainly aims to investigate the legislation of rape crime and to argue the issues on implementations of international conventions on preventing and combating violence against women. It also presents the results of the interviews carried out with NGOs working on sexual violence

On Cognate Objects in Sason Arabic

This paper investigates the patterns of cognate objects (COs) associated with unergatives and unaccusatives in Sason Arabic. We propose that COs of both unergatives and unaccusatives are not true arguments, as evinced by their highly productive and unrestricted use, but constitute rhematic complements in the sense of Ramchand (2008), therefore cannot be used as diagnostics for unergative-unaccusative distinction in the language
