Different strains of Newcastle disease virus (NDV) worldwide proved to have tumouricidal activity in several types of cancer cells. However, the possible anti-cancer activity of Malaysian NDV AF2240 strain and its mechanism of action remains unknown. The ability of cytokine-related apoptosis-inducing NDV AF2240 to treat breast cancer was investigated in the current study. Methods A total of 90 mice were used and divided into 15 groups, each group comprising of 6 mice. Tumour, body weight and mortality of the mice were determined throughout the experiment, to observe the effect of NDV and NDV + tamoxifen treatments on the mice. In addition, the toxic effect of the treatments was determined through liver function test. In order to elucidate the involvement of cytokine production induced by NDV, a total of six cytokines, i.e. IL-6, IFN-γ, MCP-1, IL-10, IL12p70 and TNF-α were measured using cytometric bead array assay (plasma) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent spot (isolated splenocytes). Results The results demonstrated that 4 T1 breast cancer cells in allotransplanted mice treated with AF2240 showed a noticeable inhibition of tumour growth and induce apoptotic-related cytokines. Conclusions NDV AF2240 suppression of breast tumour growth is associated with induction of apoptotic-related cytokines. It would be important to further investigate the molecular mechanism underlaying cytokines production by Newcastle disease virus. Abstract Curriculum is one of the important tools in education. The curriculum has a central position in realizing the educational goals and objectives that are aspired to. The curriculum itself is a set of plans and arrangements regarding objectives, content and learning materials, to achieve certain educational goals. The Islamic education curriculum must start from the preparation or formulation of educational goals according to Islam. The aim of education according to Islam is the realization of kaffah Muslims, namely Muslims who (1) are physically healthy and strong; (2) his mind is smart and clever: (3) his heart is filled with faith in Allah. The development of these aspects must be balanced. The development of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum has undergone a paradigm shift, although some of the previous paradigms have been maintained until now. Values in Islam contain two categories of meaning from a normative perspective, namely considerations of good and bad, right and wrong, right and wrong, blessed. and cursed by Allah SWT. This research can provide concrete recommendations to improve the Islamic Religion education curriculum, so that students can have a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings and are able to practice religious values in everyday life

Patients in the sarcopenia group were mostly aged 70-79 years (41.9%), female (64.5%), married (58.1%), history of primary education (32.3%), had worked (58.1%), had mild comorbidities (58.1%), sedentary physical activity (74.2%), and at risk of malnutrition (54.8%)

Dependence of preferred c-axis orientation on RF magnetron sputtering power for AZO/Si acoustic wave devices

We report the deposition of high quality c-axis oriented Aluminium doped Zinc Oxide (AZO) on silicon substrate for surface acoustic wave (SAW) applications. AZO thin film is prepared by Radio frequency magnetron sputtering method. Sputtering is a preferred method because it is able to perform deposition at low temperature, produce uniform thin film and possesses high deposition rates. In preserving the functionality of the device during post CMOS process, low deposition temperature is crucial. In order to obtain the preferred AZO structural properties with strong acoustoelectric interaction, we investigate the influence of RF power on c-axis preferred orientation of AZO/Si multilayer. The deposited thin films are characterized by X-Ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The crystal structures are evaluated in terms of c-axis lattice constant, d-spacing and crystallite size. It is observed that as RF power increases, the AZO film is predominantly oriented at c-axis (002) and achieved high crystalline quality. However, if the applied RF power is too high, the energized ions would impede the growth of high quality film. The optimum RF power was found to be at 250 W, at which the material exhibits hexagonal wurtzite-type lattice of ZnO structure, high crystallinity (lowest FWHM value) and crystallite size, and high deposition rate

A study on controllable aluminium doped zinc oxide patterning by chemical etching for MEMS application

    Get PDF
This present work reports on the study of controllable aluminium doped zinc oxide (AZO) patterning by chemical etching for MEMS application. The AZO thin film was prepared by RF magnetron sputtering as it is capable of producing uniform thin film at high deposition rates. X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) characterization were done to characterize AZO thin film. The sputtered AZO thin film shows c-axis (002) orientation, low surface roughness and high crystalline quality. To pattern AZO thin film for MEMS application, wet etching was chosen due to its ease of processing with few controlling parameters. Four etching solutions were used namely: 10 % Nitric acid, 10 % Phosphoric acid, 10 % Acetic acid and Molybdenum etch solutions. For the first time, chemical etching using Molybdenum etch that consist of a mixture of CH3COOH, HNO3 and H3PO4 was characterized and reported. The effect of these acidic solutions on the undercut etching, vertical and lateral etch rate were studied. The etched AZO were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and stylus profilometer. The investigations showed that the Molybdenum etch has the lowest undercut etching of 7.11 µm, and is highly effective in terms of lateral and vertical etching with an etch ratio of 1.30. Successful fine patterning of AZO thin films was demonstrated at device level on a surface acoustic wave resonator fabricated in 0.35 μm CMOS technology. The AZO thin film acts as the piezoelectric thin film for acoustic wave generation. Patterning of the AZO thin film is necessary for access to measurement probe pads. The working acoustic resonator showed resonance peak at 1.044 GHz at 45.28 dB insertion loss indicating that the proposed Molybdenum etch method does not adversely affect the device’s operating characteristic
