A study investigate the impact of lead pellet to the air pistol and air rifle shooters health in Subang National Shooting Range
Handling of lead pellets among the Air Pistol and Air Rifle shooters are the potential risk that may have adverse effect on the shooter’s health. In shooting course of action, shooters need to physically handle lead pellet, susceptible to inhaling the lead dust or fume and the improper ventilation system may increase the lead contaimination in the shooting range. Limited of empirical evidence focusing on the lead pellet effect to the shooters has created some difficulty to the researcher to complete the research. The reseach was conducted among the Air Pistol and Air Rifle shooter in the Subang National Shooting Range with the objective to the
determine the contributing factors i.e physical contact, inhalation and ventilation system that may have impact to the shooter health statu
Techniques for Analysing and Reconciling the Progressive Mineral Taxation Regime of Papua New Guinea
The study investigated how progressive tax instruments behave to raise revenues from the mining industry without distorting the investment decision-making. The study used real option and Monte Carlo simulation cash flow tax models and historical data to investigate the revenue collecting potentials of Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) progressive mineral taxation regime. The results show that PNG and mineral endowed nations can successfully capture high magnitude of revenues from the resources sector by making tax instruments more progressive
Deletion of introne-4 of Endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene in Behcet’s disease-Iraq .Ali alkazzaz* Medical college- Babylon University
Behcet’s disease (BD) is multi systemic inflammatory disorder of unknown cause, it characterized by recurrent oral and genital ulcer, skin lesion and uveitis. The etiopathogensis of Behcet’s Disease had long been postulated, possibility that immunological abnormalities induced by microbial pathogens in genetically susceptible individual are important in the pathogenesis. There was no positive association between eye involvement, arteritis and HLA5 tissue typing and positive pethergy test .The HLA5 was positive in 62% of patients with Behcet’s disease in Iraqi patients. Endothelial nitric oxide synthase is synthesized by arginine oxidation, it is one of nitric oxide synthase family, this enzyme has three isoform tow constitutive (neuronal NOS include nNOS and NOS-I)and one inducible NOS (Inos, nos-II), endotheline enzyme responsible of generate small amount of nitrous oxide, The eNOS gene is located on chromosome 7q35-36. 33 Iraqi patients with Behcet’s disease compared with the same number of healthy population and it was conducted in Merjan teaching hospital in Babylon –Iraq in rheumatology unit from same ethnic Arabic group. The genotype study was done for both groups in the biological department of Science Collage in Babylon University during 2013. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood leukocytes using standard protocols. PCR experiment was performed using Forward primer 5-AGGCCCTATGGTAGTGCCTT-3 and revers primer 5- TCTCTTAGTGCTGTGGTCAC-3 in (clever scientific thermo cycler PCR). Role Of Digital Health Wearables In The Wellbeing And Quality Of Life Of Older People And Carers
The number of adults aged 65 and over has increased by 2% across Europe in the past 15 years, and in Northern Ireland by 22% between 2003-2013. The proportion of the population in this age group is projected to increase by 63% to just under 0.5 million by 2033 – which will be a quarter of the population in Northern Ireland. Given Northern Ireland’s Active Ageing Strategy (2015-2021), there is an increasing focus on encouraging physical activity as we get older to preserve mobility and motor skills, and to enjoy the benefits of living longer and to minimise health problems associated with ageing. Over the last two years, we have been investigating the role of wearable activity tracking technologies in self-monitoring of activity by people aged over 55. Example technologies include activity trackers from Fitbit, Garmin and Samsung, and smart watches. Typically, these devices record steps walked, sleep patterns, calories expended and heart rate.
Based on empirical investigations, this policy paper describes the benefits of activity monitors for people aged over 55 for self-monitoring of physical activity, for adopting healthy lifestyles, and for increasing or maintaining physical activity as a way to avoid high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, and other medical conditions associated with weight or lower physical activity. It outlines the role of activity trackers in post-operative monitoring of mobility during rehabilitation, in caring, and for possible use of the data for diagnosis and medical interventions. It then discusses the challenges for adoption of these technologies, given currently, off-the-shelf devices are designed and calibrated for use by physically fit (typically young active people) with unrealistic fitness targets for the older generation
Effect of swift heavy ion irradiation on surface resistance of DyBa2Cu3O7−δ thin films at microwave frequencies
We report the observation of a pronounced peak in surface resistance at microwave frequencies of 4.88 GHz and 9.55 GHz and its disappearance after irradiation with swift ions in laser ablated DyBa2Cu3O7−δ (DBCO) thin films. The measurements were carried out in zero field as well as in the presence of magnetic fields (up to 0.8 T). The films were irradiated using 90 MeV oxygen ions at Nuclear Science Centre, New Delhi at a fluence of 3 × 10^13 ions/cm2. Introduction of point defects and extended defects after irradiation suppresses the peak at 9.55 GHz whereas no suppression is observed at 4.88 GHz. These results and the vortex dynamics in the films at microwave frequencies before and after irradiation are discussed
Automated fetal brain extraction from clinical Ultrasound volumes using 3D Convolutional Neural Networks
To improve the performance of most neuroimiage analysis pipelines, brain
extraction is used as a fundamental first step in the image processing. But in
the case of fetal brain development, there is a need for a reliable US-specific
tool. In this work we propose a fully automated 3D CNN approach to fetal brain
extraction from 3D US clinical volumes with minimal preprocessing. Our method
accurately and reliably extracts the brain regardless of the large data
variation inherent in this imaging modality. It also performs consistently
throughout a gestational age range between 14 and 31 weeks, regardless of the
pose variation of the subject, the scale, and even partial feature-obstruction
in the image, outperforming all current alternatives.Comment: 13 pages, 7 figures, MIUA conferenc

TEK DOZ POLEN YÜKLEMESİNİN DAYANIKLILIK SPORCULARINDA MAKSİMAL OKSİJEN TÜKETİM VE KAN PARAMETRELERİNE ETKİSİ Bu araştırmada an poleni dayanıklılık sporcularının mak. Analiz neticesinde 15mg an poleninin maksimal oksijen tüketimi (mak. OF A SINGLE DOSE OF BEE-POLLEN ADMINISTRATION ON MAXIMUM OXYGEN CONSUMPTION AND BLOOD PARAMETERS OF ENDURANCE ATHLETES The purpose of this study is to reasearch if a single dose of bee-pollen administration has an effect on maximum oxygen consumption VO2 max. and blood parameters (serum cholesterol, serum glucose, serum triglycerid, HDL-C (High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol), LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein), total protein (Albumin and Globulin)) of endurance athletes. Subjects of this study were selected from athletes who were performed endurance type of exercise on a regular basis. Twelve voluntarily subjects ages 21-26 were participated the study. Each subject received two treatments in cross over fashion and was assigned randomly and in a double-blind order to either bee-pollen (15 mg) group or placebo group. During the study phase, meals or drinks were not taken in order to avoid interactions of the studied substances with food. Twelve minutes run- walk test was performed and blood samples were taken after the 5 hours of ingestion of the bee-pollen. 12min. cooper test results are recorded and VO2 max. value for twelve minutes run- walk test was counted at the end of the study. Blood samples were taken before and 5 hours after the bee-pollen or placebo ingestion. The effects of 15mg bee- pollen on 12min. cooper test results, VO2 max. value, the blood lipid parameters, HDL- C, LDL, total protein, the blood cholesterol and the blood glucose are collected after 5 hours. For statistical evaluation, the data were analyzed by the Wilcoxon signed rank test. Significance level was set at p<0.05. As a result, the bee-pollen administration has a positive effect on VO2 max. (p<0.04) and 12min. cooper test results (p<0.04). On the other hand, there are no significance differences between the bee-pollen group and placebo group on the blood parameters of endurance athletes
