    Developing tropical countries are expecting a large number of population in the near future, thus, environmental degradation issues due to excessive economic development and urban climate change are becoming a major threat to modern society. In order to improve urban design and sustainable architecture, in accordance with this specific tropical climate, a quantitative grasp of the microclimate in a developed city is highly desirable. Moreover, only a few studies have been carried out on the aforementioned issues in a low-latitude tropical urban region. Therefore, this study aims to provide a better insight into the use of in-situ microclimatic measurements and Geographical Information Systems (GIS), particularly in analysing the effect of greenery coverage and morphological aspects, i.e. height to width ratio of built-up features, for understanding the microclimate pattern at the university campus. The study area is situated at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, (UTM KL), which is a local-scale city campus environment, located near the Kuala Lumpur city centre. The urban microclimate was observed for the duration of one year. The climatic data were mapped and spatially analysed in relation to different land cover types in the GIS environment. Moreover, the effect of green areas and building morphology are critically evaluated with regards to the changes made to the local climatic variables in the campus. As a result, this study reveals that the effects of greenery coverage and the morphological characteristics on the campus providing a good indicator of the microclimate pattern in a developed city campus. In conclusion, with the support of in-situ measurements and GIS analysis, the campus temperature properties were quantitatively evaluated, and this directly contributed to a better understanding of climate change in the city of Kuala Lumpur

    Dapatan kajian juga harus dikongsi dengan mengenalpasti bagaimana proses akulturasi atau asimilasi berlaku terhadap pelajar perempuan Islam antarabangsa di Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) yang melanjutkan pengajian mereka dalam bidang sarjana muda, sarjana dan PHD. Kajian ini juga mengkhususkan hanya kepada proses adaptasi budaya dengan menggunakan Model Lekuk-U oleh Lysgaard (1955). Kajian ini ingin menghurai kesan penghijrahan yang berlaku oleh pelajar perempuan Islam antarabangsa sepanjang mengadaptasi diri mereka dengan budaya baru dan apakah faktor tarikan pelajar antarabangsa untuk melanjutkan pengajian di Malaysia. Kajian ini turut dilaksanakan menggunakan kaedah temubual sekaligus mengenalpasti para pelajar antarabangsa melalui fasa adaptasi budaya sebagai seorang perempuan Islam. Antara hasil dapatan kajian mendapati bahawa wanita-wanita ini telah berjaya mengharungi segala cabaran dan berjaya mengadaptasikan diri di Malaysia. Mereka juga melalui kejutan budaya serta menempuhi cabaran untuk mengadaptasi namun mereka mampu mengatasinya. Mereka mempercayai bahawa agama membantu mereka dapat mengadaptasikan diri mereka di sini

    The Determinants of Satisfaction and Loyalty to Digital Libraries: Islamic Economics Student Perspective in Indonesia

    This study aims to determine the factors that influence the satisfaction and loyalty of Islamic economics students in Indonesia to digital libraries. To test the structural and measurement models, the Partial Least Square Structural equation modeling (SEM) approach was used. Online questionnaires were distributed to purposively selected respondents throughout Indonesia, consisting of all major islands. In total, there were 104 respondents collected. This study found that the Perceived Usefulness variable had no significant effect on digital library user satisfaction for Islamic economics students in Indonesia. while the Perceived Ease of Use variable has a significant effect on user satisfaction. In addition, user satisfaction also has a significant influence on user loyalty of digital libraries for Islamic economics students in Indonesia

    This research is a quantitative research, which aims to know the marketing strategy that can be done by shariah pawnshops of ARRUM BPKB financing products. The population in this study is all employees associated with ARRUM products. While the sample used in this study is saturated samples. The type of data that the author uses is the primary and secondary data types. The method used to formulate strategies using SWOT Analysis. The results of this study indicate that the product ARRUM BPKB located in Quadrant I is in Progressive conditions. Under these conditions, the S-O strategy is the right one to apply. And based on the calculation of QSPM, the priority of strategy with the highest Value of Attractiveness (TAS) is the socialization of cheaper ujroh cost to UMKM in a more massive way

    Potential bioactivities of -mangostin from garcinia malaccensis Hk.f

    Guttiferae family is well-known to have a wide range of phytochemical constituents and bioactivities. A phytochemical investigation of Garcinia malaccensis lead isolation of -mangostin, -mangostin and a triterpenoid. α-Mangostin, a xanthone has a lot of health benefits. Many studies have been reported to investigate the biological activities of α-mangostin. The present study was carried out to evaluate the antimicrobial, antioxidant and anticancer activities of α-mangostin. Its structural determination was done based on its spectroscopic analysis. α-Mangostin was tested for antimicrobial sensitivity via disc diffusion method against 4 bacteria. Results showed that S. aureus culture formed a clear inhibition zone. The diameter of zone of inhibition observed was 8 mm and minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) value was 0.025 mg/mL and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) value was 0.1 mg/mL, indicated that α-mangostin is a bacteriostatic and bactericidal agent which correlates to presence of hydroxyl group in its structure. In antioxidant properties tests, dot-blot DPPH staining showed a positive antioxidant activity of α-mangostin. In FTC method, α-mangostin was proved to be a good lipid peroxidation inhibitor, whereas in DPPH free radical scavenging activity method, it has very weak scavenging effects on free radicals. In antiproliferative assay, -mangostin exhibited activity against K562 and showed different activity against HSC3 and H1299 cell lines. Against K562, it exerted the value of IC50 20 µg/mL. This study can form a foundation for future studies in investigating of biological activities of α-mangostin and developing the natural abundant in improving a healthy community

    Tujuan dari pembuatan jurnal ini adalah untuk mengetahui kajian secara filosofis mengenai revealed knowledge yang diterapkan di UIN Syarif Hidayatullah. Revealed knowledge merupakan penempatan wahyu sebagai sumber dari ilmu pengetahuan. Wahyu diberikan kepada manusia melalui perantara Nabi sebagai petunjuk bagi kehidupan manusia. Manusia memperoleh kebenaran dan pengetahuan atas dasar wahyu. Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah merupakan satu dari sekian banyak universitas Islam yang ikut serta dalam menerapkan revealed knowledge.  Kajian filsafat ilmu menyatakan bahwa, secara umum metode mencari pengetahuan adalah dengan melalui pendekatan rasionalisme, empirisme, dan metode keilmuan. Metode-metode yang digunakan dalam mencari pengetahuan, pada dasarnya semuanya bertujuan untuk memperoleh kepastian, Tetapi perlu disadari bahwa kebenaran yang dicapai manusia hanyalah kebenaran berdasarkan sudut pandang pendekatan yang digunakan. Ditinjau dari filosofisnya pada dasarnya universitas islam di seluruh indonesia mempunyai landasan atau misi yang sangat mulia, akan tetapi tidak semuanya berjalan dengan baik, setidaknya misi yang mulia itu akan berdampak positif pada sebagian besar mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penyusunan jurnal ini adalah dengan deskriptif kualitatif, yaitu menelusuri jurnal-jurnal yang relevan sebagai sumber literatur kemudian digeneralisasi melalui pemikiran penulis.

    Effect of PVP as a capping agent in single reaction synthesis of nanocomposite soft/hard ferrite nanoparticles

    Nanocomposite magnets consist of soft and hard ferrite phases are known as an exchange spring magnet when they are sufficiently spin exchange coupled. Hard and soft ferrites offer high value of coercivity, Hc and saturation magnetization, Ms respectively. In order to obtain a better permanent magnet, both soft and hard ferrite phases need to be “exchange coupled”. The nanoparticles were prepared by a simple one-pot technique of 80% soft phase and 20% hard phase. This technique involves a single reaction mixture of metal nitrates and aqueous solution of varied amounts of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). The heat treatment applied was at 800 °C for 3 h. The synthesized composites were characterized by Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Fourier Transform Infra-red (FT-IR), Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The coexistence of two phases, Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 and SrFe12O19 were observed by XRD patterns. It also verified by the EDX that no impurities detected. The magnetic properties of nanocomposite ferrites for 0.06 g/ml PVP gives a better properties of Hc 932 G and Ms 39.0 emu/g with average particle size obtained from FESEM was 49.2 nm. The concentration of PVP used gives effect on the magnetic properties of the samples

    Kajian terhadap EIS dan kaedah kehilangan berat: novel perencat kakisan hijau daripada ekstrak etlingera elatior

    Perencatan kakisan berasaskan bahan pengekstrakan tumbuhan telah mendapat perhatian penyelidik sejak beberapa tahun kebelakangan ini disebabkan tidak bertoksik dan biodegredasi. Hasil ekstrak Etlingera elatior telah digunakan dalam kajian ini sebagai perencat kakisan hijau dalam medium 0.5 M asid hidroklorik (HCl). Dalam kajian ini, bahan ekstrak yang diperoleh telah dicirikan menggunakan analisis spektroskopi inframerah Fouriertransformasi (FTIR) dan spektroskopi jisim-kromatografi gas (GC-MS) untuk mengenal pasti kumpulan berfungsi dan sebatian kimia yang wujud. Keberkesanan bahan ekstrak dalam perencatan kakisan keluli berkarbon rendah telah dikaji melalui ujian kehilangan berat dan ujian impedans (EIS) dalam medium berasid mengikut parameter suhu (25 °C, 45 °C dan 65 °C) dan kepekatan ekstrak (250 ppm, 450 ppm, 650 ppm, 950 ppm dan 1050 ppm) yang berbeza. Spesimen keluli berkarbon rendah dicirikan melalui mikroskop elektron imbasan (SEM) dan serakan x penyebaran tenaga (EDX). Spektroskopi inframerah Fourier-transformasi (FTIR) telah menunjukkan kehadiran kumpulan berfungsi seperti hidroksil dan alkena. Sebatian organik yang mempunyai ikatan π dengan kepadatan elektron tinggi akan memudahkan proses penjerapan. Analisis GC-MS pula mendedahkan empat sebatian utama yang terdapat dalam ekstrak Etlingera elatior iaitu N-asid hexadekanoik, siklododekan, 9,12-asid oktadekadienoik dan asid dodekanoik. Kecekapan perencatan yang diperoleh dari ujian kehilangan berat mendapati bahawa peratusan kecekapan perencatan tertinggi adalah 93.6%, manakala bagi ujian impedans (EIS) adalah 90.5% pada kepekatan 950 ppm. Suhu yang tinggi juga mempercepatkan kadar kakisan dan kecekapan perencatan (IE%) menurun. Morfologi pembentukan lapisan pelindung dilihat pada permukaan berkarbon rendah apabila dengan kehadiran perencat kakisan ekstrak Etlingera elatior. Secara keseluruhannya, perencat kakisan daripada ekstrak Etlingera elatior berupaya menghalang kakisan berlaku disokong pula dengan sifat yang mesra alam
