State of Governance in Bangladesh: Problems and Prospects.

    Get PDF
This paper discusses the problems and issues on the political failures in Bangladesh as well as identifies some possible solutions. The approach here is analytical mostly reviewing current news, reports and other related materials. A comparative study is also done between the present and proposed system to get a quick glimpse on the overall situation. The idea here is to seek out reasonable and practical solutions that would yield better result for Bangladesh and bring about positive changes in the political scenario that would allow the country to move forward as a successful and dignified nation. I’ve kept the scope of this paper limited to political party, elections and governance.Governance, Good governance, Public Policy, Public Administration, Elections, Parliament, etc

Power conditioning for energy systems in green buildings

    Get PDF
This research work proposes an improved model of stand-alone renewable energy system for green buildings by using a sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) multilevel inverter with a smaller number of power switches. The energy sources for this system is photovoltaic (PV) solar panels. The main advantage of using multilevel inverter rather than normal two-level inverter is the reduction in the output voltage harmonics and this leads to a reduction in the filter size. In this case, the number of power switches used as well as the number of the gate driver circuits required is less compared to the cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter (CHMI), therefore the weight and switching losses due to the inverter is reduced. To test the effectiveness of the proposed model simulations are carried out using MATLAB/Simulink under temperature and irradiance varying conditions. In addition to the use of the multilevel inverter, a perturb and observe (P&O) maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm is used for the PV array and a feedforward control system is used for the output voltage control. This research work is carried out to develop a model of stand-alone renewable energy system which is capable to provide constant 240 volts to the load at 50 Hz irrespective to the disturbances on the PV side. Simulations are carried out for both constant as well as for varying conditions and it is found that the output voltage of the inverter is constant and stable for both the cases at 240 volts, 50 Hz

Leakage analysis of gasketed flange joints under combined internap pressure and thermal loading

    Get PDF
Leakage in Gasketed Flanged Joints (GFJs) have always been a great problem for the process industry. The sealing performance of a GFJ depends on its installation and applied loading conditions. This paper aims to finding the leak rate through ANSI class#150 flange joints using a compressed asbestos sheet (CAS) gasket under combined structural and thermal transient loading conditions using two different leak rate models and two different bolt-up levels. The first model is a Gasket Compressive Strain model in which strains are determined using finite element analysis. The other model is based on Porous Media Theory in which gasket is considered as porous media. Leakage rates are determined using both leak rate models and are compared against appropriate tightness classes and the effectiveness of each approach is presented

Application of Nida’s Concept of Formal and Dynamic Equivalence to English Translation of Surah Al-Tariq

    Get PDF
The Holy Quran is the last book of Allah revealed to Holy Prophet Muhammad PBUH. It has been translated into many languages of the world. I have chosen English translation of one of its chapters i.e. Surah Al-Tariq to examine Eugene Nida's theory of translation. Considering Formal and Dynamic Equivalence as theoretical framework, I will evaluate the translation of Surah Al-Tariq, translated by an Ahmadi scholar, Muhammad Ali, in order to examine to what extent Eugene Nida's theory of translation is applicable to English translation of Surah Al-Tariq. The Holy Qura'n is comprised of 114 Surahs which are in certain order. Current research will facilitate us apply the same theoretical framework to other Surahs of the Holy Quran in order to enhance our understanding about it

A Stochastic Total Least Squares Solution of Adaptive Filtering Problem

    Get PDF
An efficient and computationally linear algorithm is derived for total least squares solution of adaptive filtering problem, when both input and output signals are contaminated by noise. The proposed total least mean squares (TLMS) algorithm is designed by recursively computing an optimal solution of adaptive TLS problem by minimizing instantaneous value of weighted cost function. Convergence analysis of the algorithm is given to show the global convergence of the proposed algorithm, provided that the stepsize parameter is appropriately chosen. The TLMS algorithm is computationally simpler than the other TLS algorithms and demonstrates a better performance as compared with the least mean square (LMS) and normalized least mean square (NLMS) algorithms. It provides minimum mean square deviation by exhibiting better convergence in misalignment for unknown system identification under noisy inputs
