Intelligent Digital Twin to make Robot Learn the Assembly process through Deep Learning

    Get PDF
The objective of this paper is to utilize deep learning technology to develop an intelligent digital twin for the operational support of a human-robot assembly station. Digital twin, as a virtual portrayal, is used to design, simulate, and optimize the complexity of the assembly system. For testing purposes, a convolutional neural network (CNN) is integrated with a digital twin. It is used for the application of a collaborative robot for an assembly application. Collaborative robots are a new form of industrial robots that are safe for humans and can work alongside humans and have received ample attraction in recent years for automation of simple to complex tasks

Sarcoidosis Presenting as Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome.

Sarcoidosis is a multisystem granulomatous disease of unknown origin. It typically involves the lungs and mediastinal lymph nodes in a chronic fashion. However, acute syndrome has been reported possibly in response to systemic release of proinflammatory cytokines. Acute pulmonary manifestations, especially acute respiratory failure or acute respiratory distress syndrome, remain extremely uncommon in individuals without a prior diagnosis. We present the case of a 41-year-old African American female, who presented with ARDS. An extensive workup into the cause of her illness remained negative, and she subsequently succumbed to her illness. A diagnosis of sarcoidosis was made upon autopsy, after exclusion of other granulomatous illness. The case highlights the need to consider this uncommon diagnosis in patients with unexplained ARDS to guide therapy

Market timing ability of fund managers in India : an analysis

    Get PDF
The mutual fund industry in India consists of public sector, private sector and foreign funds. All the three sectors were studied to compare the selectivity and timing performance on the basis of sponsorship of funds. However, from these only active funds belongings to Growth, Income, Balanced and Tax-Saving Schemes were selected for the study. The period of study is five years from April 2007 to 31st March 2011. The rationale for selecting the study period of 5-years from 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2011 stems from two reasons. Firstly, during this period, the stock market experienced higher volatility, as such chosen to find-out whether the funds have succeeded in surpassing the market performance even under depressed market conditions. Secondly, the five years were long enough to capture different market phases and to draw meaningful conclusions. Regarding timing performance empirical results have indicated that the majority i.e. 85 percent of fund managers have shown superior timing performance. As such, it is evident that Indian fund managers during the reference period were more inclined towards timing performance and market timing was evidenced, suggesting that there is a trade –off between a fund managers stock selection and market timing performance. This is indicative of the evidence of activity specialization among fund managers, implying that no manager can excel in both the activities.peer-reviewe

Charla invitadaMicro-satellite development at University environment provides hands-on experience of building a satellite from design through launch and orbit operations for students in a cost effective way. Since multi-disciplinary efforts are required for satellite program are normally available in Universities therefore this kind of projects coupled with team building would provide valuable contribution to aerospace field. It would not only involve training scientists and engineers for the future but it can also used as a tool for development of new technologies using research culture of university environment for future system. Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the national space agency has taken an initiative in the form of “Pakistan National Student Satellite Program (PNSSP)”, envisioning a long-term program to involve, train and prepare university students for the high-tech space industry. The proposed program is a way forward for sustainable and progressive student satellite developments under the umbrella of SUPARCO. Sir Syed University of engineering and Technology, Pakistan has taken initiative to join hand with SUPARCO for first student satellite program. The development of attitude determination and control, and power sub systems will be carried out at Electronic Engineering Department with review and funding support from SUPARCO. The project will be implemented through involvement of students, research scholars and faculty members. The proposed design of satellite is a 50 kg class Micro Satellite, measuring 50cm by 50cm by 50cm, with an average power of ~50 W and design life of 1-2 years, to be launched in a low earth orbit (LEO) at ~500 km altitude, carrying Store forward, earth μCAM, and scientific experiments payload. This talk will describe the system design concept, science mission, common subsystem description, and major challenges for development of student satellite.Universidad de Málaga. The economy of state Jammu and Kashmir has suffered from disturbed conditions prevailing in the state since past 24 years .both the centre and state governments are trying to put the economy back on the rails by enabling the average person to get employment apportunities.in a state ridden with violence and having a population 600,000 unemployed youths, the challenges before j & k state are immense. In this scenario, the thrust is on employment generation for youth-both boys and girls in state. This research work shall examine the challenges of entrepreneurship development in state Jammu and Kashmir. This paper sees entrepreneurship as the process of creating something new with value by devoting the necessary time and effort, with the accompanying financial and social risks, and receiving in return monetary rewards, personal satisfaction and independence. In this era of shrinking economic activities, government should endeavor to provide the necessary infrastructures required for skills acquisition among its citizenry. This is because without technological skills, entrepreneurial spirit which drives economic development through job creation will be lacking. The paper conclude that entrepreneurship is essential for rapid and sustained economic growth but there is urgent need to change the mindset of the Average Jammu and Kashmir especially the youths towards embracing self employment and de-emphasize the search for white collar jobs that are non-existent. Entrepreneurship as a means of self employment suffers a number of great challenges”, and these challenges are what this research work would identify. Emotional intelligence (EI) is based on the concept of understanding one’s own emotion and the emotions of others. Aggression is often categorized by hurtful and destructive behaviour towards others; it seems to oppose the empathetic nature of EI. In this study the objective was to study the role of emotional intelligence on adolescents and also a gender difference in emotional intelligence and aggression of adolescents. The aggression scale developed by D. Spielberger et al., State Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI) (1983) was used to measure aggression and the emotional intelligence scale developed by Mangal S.K., Emotional Intelligence Inventory (MEI) (2004) was used to measure emotional intelligence of adolescents. Data was collected from 246 adolescents from various Colleges. The t-test was used and it was found that there exists a significant difference between the levels of emotional intelligences and aggression of adolescent girls as compared to adolescent boys. Boys were found to be more aggressive whereas girls were found to be more emotionally intelligent
